A Hindu temple or as its most commonly called a 'mandir' is a place of worship for Hindus and is considered as the house of God. India is a vast nation with as many religions, cultures and beliefs, Hinduism forming the majority. Hindu temples are very varied in style and architecture, with Nagara architecture of North India and Dravidian style of southern being the most common, though the essential feature remaining the same viz. an inner sanctum where the primary murti or the image/idol of the deity is housed. All the cosmic elements from fire to water, from images of nature to deities, from the feminine to the masculine, from kama to artha, from the fleeting sounds and incense smells to Purusha—the eternal nothingness yet universality—is part of a Hindu temple architecture. Like every other religion, Hinduism also teaches us the all life is sacred and is to be loved and revered. With the common belief in karma, the law of cause and effect by which each individual moulds his own future through his own thoughts, words and actions. Gurudwaras ( meaning 'the gateway to reach the guru' ) are a place of worship for the Sikhs. All gurudwaras have a main hall called Darbar Sahib where the holy scripture 'Guru Granth Sahib' is placed on a raised platform (takhat). There is always a water body to be found inside a gurudwara called 'sarovar' which is believed to have medicinal properties. Additionally a medical room, a library, nursery or a classroom may be attached to a gurudwara sahib. There are no idols, statues, or religious pictures in a Gurdwara, Nor are there candles, incense, or bells, or any other ritualistic devices. Every Gurudwara has a langar hall/community meal service, where free vegetarian food is served by the volunteers. And the most endearing part is that the meal is prepared by volunteers irrespective of their economic status or various strata they may belong to and is humbly served to all visitors regardless of caste, creed, race, religion or social or economic backgrounds. Buddist Stupa is one the most important monument in Buddhism, and houses the remains and/or possessions of saints. According to one of the buddhist sutras, followers on Budha divided his cremated remains and erected Stupas to house them. Most stupas have a semi-spherical shape, often surrounded by a fence and are believed to be the living presence of Budha, a depository of his protective powers and energy in addition to being the commemorative symbols.
