Dear friend
My name is Ghada. I lost my husband and everything we had in the war, leaving just me and my daughter to face these hardships alone. The donations we receive are minimal, and I am in desperate need of support to increase the number of donors who can help us survive. Unfortunately, my previous account was blocked, and this is my new one.
Any assistance would mean the world to us.
With gratitude,
Ghada

mario party jamboree is a really fun game so far.
the only thing i dislike is that when it cant find an online match, it kinda... gaslights you into thinking youre playing online when youre not. you can only tell its not online because it skips interactions between the computer players (like duels).
i eventually dc'd by going into flight mode, because i could tell these were just computers and i wanted to quit. but if you do that, it just cold quits. it doesn't reveal that hey, these were npcs and so you can keep playing offline, it treats it like you quit a real online match.
for the record, i'm talking about regular party mode here, not koopathlon. not sure how the online works there yet.
but i really dislike this "fake online" arrangement. if you can't find real players, ASK me if i want to continue with computers. don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining.
i can understand the necessity of adding computer players in koopathlon, which is up to 20 players. but if its regular party mode, and i'm the ONLY real person, at least tell me it's a regular npc match so i can take a break if i want to. make it 100% clear who's real.
update: the online in the plaza seems to only be for friends. it doesn't say that anywhere, but based on failing to find anyone... yeah.
so yeah, Certified Nintendo Moment: if you want to play with randoms online, you have to ignore the machine labelled "ONLINE." instead, go into the balloon, pick the mode you want, then pick "worldwide." and that does NOT allow you to play with friends, so "friends online" vs "randoms online" is weirdly segregated. @nintendo: why. why are you like this.
in better news: having now actually played koopathlon, that mode does NOT struggle to find players. filled up 20 people very quickly. and those were clearly real people, who played like real people and spammed reactions frequently (computers don't use reactions). i got 2nd place, twice in a row.
koopathlon is also very fun. having constant, simultaneous minigames is a great way to have quick matches that don't take an hour, while still feeling more structured than a plain ol' minigame mode. americans, you're in for a treat tomorrow!
also, more committed mario fans noticed this earlier than i did, but they seem to be giving daisy her old tan back. very based.

FINISHED echoes of wisdom! very fun and sweet game, with a lot of surprisingly interesting lore for such a "lighthearted" zelda title.
might make a longer post about it, but i'll say right off the bat i like the theme of duality and balance we got going on. there's one glaring missed opportunity with that theme, buuuut i will leave that for a longer post.
there's also an interesting subtheme of the gods as amoral, conceptual beings who don't care about human morality. all they care about is making sure the universe keeps going - life winning over death. existence over entropy. it leads one to understand why they would grant their blessings to both zelda and ganon. it also makes it sweet when their servants (fi and tri!) learn to care about human emotion. aww.
overall, i greatly enjoyed my time from start to finish.
tumblr just deleted a huge swathe of palestinians who were on here trying to fundraise. if you've been helping any of these fundraisers please take this time to 1) check in with palestinians you're in contact with 2) help them submit support requests if needed 3) keep these campaigns circulating while the beneficiaries are being silenced. these campaigns are life or death, this isn't just social networking. do not let these fundraisers languish.

come closer we are a normal pokemon spinoff series
apologies to those hoping "no zelda = i work on something better", but i finally got zelda, so i'm not sorry and i will be playing all night.
i still don't understand why the devs didn't just... confirm botw is in the child timeline. i think that was the original intent. it would have saved so much discourse. zelda even has a really on-the-nose line like "the hero has been Skyward bound, through Time, and steeped in Twilight...", which seemed like a pretty clear answer to me!
i guess at some point, fans decided random easter eggs "contradict" this? so the devs just caved, and decided to be like "uhh it can be whatever timeline you want." thats honestly my best guess
i thought the timeline was a fun idea when hyrule historia came out, but its clearly become this unnecessarily convoluted beast where the devs are trying to distance themselves from it. which i guess i respect.
so i guess that, in the end, actually validates the idea that you should just let fans do whatever they want with it lol.
hope everyone else are enjoying echoes of wisdom… my copy probably won’t arrive until october 1st 😭

it remains extremely funny to me that so many zelda fans act like tears of the kingdom is the first game to not care that much about previous games
so much to see at the festival!
finally caved and got the nintendo online expansion. honestly i'll probably just keep it for one year because i wanna play minish cap, four swords, etc.
been playing minish cap all day today. just as fun as i remember (i never finished it, just played the first couple dungeons as a child).
first dungeon is surprisingly complex for a first dungeon. its not super hard, but compare it to other "first dungeons" which are often very simple. theres definitely a bigger chance you can miss things. theres one part with a hidden heart piece wherein you have to uncover secret switches then backtrack to the entrance to get it.
its also themed very well. its the first dungeon, but they already do the minish gimmick well - youre tiny the whole time. you float on lilypads and traverse a vast barrel. the boss is just a chuchu, but its gigantic for your scale. its fun and the item is used well.
hyrule castle town is also very engaging. theres a ton of little paths you cant access yet because you havent unlocked certain abilities or the right shrinking portal to become minish-sized. it feels like there will be a lot of side quests to do here. its colorful and pretty.
this is what i love about classic "linear" zelda: i like the pacing of not being able to do everything right away. i like filing away secrets in my mind and having the right tools to tackle them later. its fun. you can call it "locked door simulator" all you want. its still fun.
i find it interesting that several memes have referred to princess zelda being like "i'm a healer, but..." when she is not a healer. that is not her role in the games.
zelda's powers are, broadly: 1) sealing powers, 2) magicking weapons, like creating the light arrows/blessing the master sword 3) general light magic, like the attack she uses to "hold" ganondorf in oot, 4) magic door opening, 5) teleportation 6) magic transformation (sheik)
"but she healed midna!" mm not exactly. she doesn't have dedicated healing powers. she transferred her triforce power/light energy to midna, sacrificing herself in the process. that was very much a one-time thing and not reflective of her "role." i wouldn't call that "being a healer" any more than i would call donating a kidney that.
and even so... that would be one instance, in a series of over 20 games. meanwhile, she has used some form of offensive magic or direct violence (whether in the form of sealing power or shooting arrows) MUCH more often than she has been any kind of "healer."
idk. i just find it... interesting, that people seem to assume she's usually a healer, and echoes of wisdom is an exception to that rule.
