Why do we love spoiling our pooches so so much?
You've had a bad day at work.
Its been stressful, you may of missed a deadline, the boss's husbands just left her so you're now getting the brunt of her awful mood, you've got an impossible client who won't stop calling you and demanding everything for "now". After a hellish fight through the rush hour traffic your blood pressure feels like it is about to burst and you may just collapse at any given moment as you approach your front door. As soon as the door swings opens your faithful mutt catapults out wagging his tail so fiecefully happy to see your return. If he could talk he would say something along the lines of "Never leave me again, I missed you so much, I wuu you!! Woof."
Suddenly all your stress is gone and you wondered what it ever felt like to be in a bad mood. `"Oh how wonderful your little friend is" you think to yourself as he runs around your feet, he seems to be the only one to ever understand you and you just want to smother him in kisses and spoil him rotten.
He gets your every mood, how could you ever be sad again when those big black eyes lovingly stare up at you with his cute little face and wet nose.
He deserves a doggy Harrods spa day, a new Swarovski collar, a little cashmere scarf- or how about even a fluffy doggy dressing gown and some home made doggy cookies?
He deserves it all and we just love spoiling our dogs rotten, we can't ruin then like we can children, they don't answer back like human partners do- and they certainly will not cast things up that happened over a year ago.
Our little friend always knows how to bring us out of a bad mood, he understands when we are down and he's always there for us.
He can therefore have as many Swarovski collars and Knightsbridge shopping trips as his little doggy heart would like!
Hounds and Cars
Question: So just why are hounds great driving companions?
Answer: Fashion wise- before you have even left the drive way they have already complimented the car- being that fantastically long sight hound shape they just look fabulous in almost everything especially a polished up old classic (you may have to buy one to match the dog), they love the adventure of a long road trip and the thrill of not knowing where they are going.
They don't complain like spouses or kids or even friends do, they won't want to stop off a million times to go to the loo or ask you constantly "are we there yet" They won't criticise your driving, tell you you've taken the wrong turn or argue with you over the radio station.
In fact you will do nothing but smile when you look across and see your beloved 4 legged friend, as his mouth balloons up in the wind and his heads dangles out of the window enjoying the air whizz past his ears.
You will get nothing but compliments on his good behaviour and terribly quiet nature from passers by as you pull in at service stations, while his big dark eyes peer out from behind the wheel.
Although he may whine slightly if he sees a park, and he will most definitely steel your bacon butty when one isn't looking- oh and do mind the sharp claws on the leather. But all that is easily fixable with a cashmere blanket, a long walk and an extra bacon sandwich.
So it has been agreed, the next time you have to go on a road trip think wisely about inviting the spouse, lover, mistress or friend and think about just how lovely it would be to have that fabulous long nosed quiet companion next to you, who simply just makes the best travel buddy.

“Just give me a comfortable couch, a dog, a good book, and a woman. Then if you can get the dog to go somewhere and read the book, I might have a little fun.”
