What a glorious start to the school year! Our first Harvest Fest in 3 years - something we had to give up on due to the pandemic. It was a perfect Fall day and our exceptional Parent Community organized a wonderful event. The air was relaxed, squeals of laughter from the children, amiable conversations among adults...so much to do....face painting, rock painting, bouncy house, yard games, hay wagon rides, farm tours, fresh pressed apple cider, fresh produce from our farm garden, delicious baked goods and spectacular soups....just the BEST start to a year filled with community events!

Our farm serves as a sanctuary for 8 sheep, 9 goats, 3 cats, a llama, and numerous chickens, ducks, turkeys. The animals roam freely over 20 acres. During the school year, students are the primary caretakers of the animals and contribute to their upkeep by selling eggs and produce that they harvest from the farm. The animals receive the best feed, regular veterinary care and lots of love. In return, they help teach the students compassion, animal husbandry, gardening, and resource management.

Sadly, the current COVID-19 pandemic has been very hard on Nature’s Classroom Montessori. The school has had to absorb significant expenses involved in keeping the school safe for in-person attendance. Moreover, the environmental education program (Nature’s Classroom Institute), that partially funded the school and farm, has been unable to operate since March 2020. Because of this, school administration has been forced to consider ways of decreasing expenses. Animal care is expensive.

If you choose to support us, you will be helping cover the expenses associated with maintaining the farm and caring for the animals. With your help, we can make sure that the children keep their animals and that the animals continue to live blissfully on the school farm.
