Doubly embarrassed, it would appear.

I have been notified that the previous post I reblogged regarding tumblr's suicide assistance was incorrect, and it does not, in fact, work anymore. While it still leads you to a list of useful websites, Tumblr staff have discontinued their assistance on the matter, and instead encourage calling the appropriate authorities.

In addition, I would like to deeply apologize, again, for the lack of activity. While I can't do nearly as much as I would like to do on my end, that doesn't mean the Calliope Project has to take a hit. It has been made possible because of all of you out there that care. The Project has always been, at its heart, an initiative to watch out for those who need encouragement, and to use their interests (Homestuck in particular) to cheer those who are in dire straits.

I will continue to work to the best of my abilities, even though personal issues make my availability laughably small, but I know that so long as there are people like you fine folk out there, that people can receive the help and encouragement they need. Stay strong, stay hopeful, stay vigilant.

I have a friend who seems like she's boarder line depression and we've been best friends for three years and she's always upset and I feel so bad because no matter what i say or do she's always upset

I'm no professional, but what I can say without knowing more is that some people aren't good at expressing themselves, so others might get the wrong impression. Whether this be expressing what they want, how they feel, or just whatever. If you've known them for that long, then you probably know a lot about them! Use your knowledge to do things for them. Use their hobbies, their favorite things, and whatever they happen to like, and use them as a way to connect to them. If they seem upset... Maybe you might ask them if they want to talk about it? People oftentimes keep a lot of things pent up, and giving them an avenue to vent it out can be more help than you might realize.

I apologize to other mods and followers for my inactivity, but I need to take a break for a while. I feel that if I relapse back into depression, which seems to be the way I'm headed, I won't be able to properly help. We've recently received several very concerned people regarding people who have decided that taking their own life is the only option, and I am very regretful to say that we were not able to respond in time. While we love to be able to help, I will be the first to admit our reaction time isn't always the best, so if the situation is dire, there are other places to turn if you don't hear from us quick enough. The Tumblr Suicide Watch is a good place to report people who plan to harm themselves. They also have a large collection of the appropriate helplines and other resources. Call the appropriate authorities if someone is in danger and if you have any information on them. If someone is considering suicide, get as much help as humanly possible. what if you try really really hard to make someone happy but they don't seem to like you all that much? they aren't a bad person at all; they actually are very very nice.

There isn't any specific "right way" to cheer people up, although somethings are obvious, such as cheerful banter and compliments. You have to get a good feel for each person, what they like, what they dislike, how they feel, what they've been through; and find out ways to break through to them. This is especially true when someone is in urgent need of help!

Sometimes something we say can be taken the wrong way, and this is especially true for those who already have a lot on their plate. It's possible to be a bit "pushy" when trying to help people, and sometimes it might not even feel like help at all! On the other hand, sometimes people just don't get along without any clear reason, helpful intentions or otherwise. All we can do is try to be as polite as possible, while also being firm in our mission; spread the love to those who need it! If someone isn't responding well, it might just be because they are in a bad mood, or maybe worse. Just do what you can, and I send you my thanks for trying your best! Stay strong out there.

its ok that you didnt get to it right away, the night it was happening i had to wake one of my friends up, then she came over and stayed up with me the whole night while i was freaking out, although ive been having constant panic attacks and ive been hallucinating more than i usually do, im really scared of it happening again, its starting to push me off the edge..

I'd say try talking to an adult you trust about it. Your friend may be able to help some, but if it's this serious you may want to get help from professionals. It can be difficult, but if it helps, it really is worth it to talk to people and get help.

Oh my god, I'm so sorry I didn't get this sooner, anon... if you ever need help, call suicide hotlines, or wake people up. If it's serious, it shouldn't matter if they were sleeping or doing something else, a life takes precedence. You can always talk to me or any of the other mods if we're online, and there are scores of support groups across the web... if you want, I can give you links, or you can message off anon and I can give you my personal tumblr. The toxic anon again - I think the main problem is that I don't understand what I'm doing wrong most of the time. Sometimes people don't tell me what I've done wrong until it's happened several times and they're sick of it, and other times they don't tell me at all and leave me to guess. My moirail was one of the latter and even months later I still can't figure out why. I warn everyone I meet that I'm a monster, but no one believes me until it happens to them.

That's a communication problem, and with some effort, they can be fixed. Just try sitting down and talking with them, calling, IM-ing, just something personal- though I recommend in person- and talk it out as best you can. If you're the right people for each other to be around, it can always be fixed, and if not, there are always more people and the oncoming future.

I had this same problem- my moirail left me because she felt I wasn't talking to her anymore, when I thought she was the one not talking. We're not still friends, after two months of nearly relapsing back into depression on my part, and we're able to still be friends because we talked everything out and explained what happened, and I'm sure it would have worked while the problem was ongoing as well.

Good communication can be hard, especially if you're introverted, but it really does pay off. It can take getting used to, but without it, both sides suffer.

What do you do when you ARE the toxic person that everyone is getting rid of? I try as hard as I can to be nice and be the perfect friend, I offer help but avoid asking for it, I try to talk about them all the time and not about myself, but just one slip-up and everyone vanishes before I can try to fix things. I don't want to be this way but no matter how hard I try, I can't become someone else.

They're not the correct people for you to be around, then. You also need to remember that people will always come and go from your life, and that's not always bad. I've had this problem myself, and I'm only recently coming to terms with it, but just because some people aren't the right people for you to be around doesn't mean there is nobody out there that is right.

Another problem I've noticed is that, with types like us that tend to give more than take, it can be very easy for those we give to to hurt us without them knowing. It can be hard, but speaking up for yourself can actually help because the other people may not know what they're doing
