This weekend I headed to the great state of Oregon and visited Halloweentown. Yes, the same “Halloweentown” from Disney Channel’s original movie in 1998 starring the witch family, the Cromwell’s! I mean, who didn’t want to be Marnie?! “Halloweentown” was filmed in St. Helens, Oregon and every year they do a huge celebration for Halloween.
Everyone wants a picture of the giant pumpkin in front of City Hall (which looks the exact same)! Someone got engaged in front of it later that night! When you walk around the town square you’ll even find Benny’s taxi! Earlier this month Marnie (Kimberly Brown) was there to kickoff the celebration and promote her new children’s Halloween book, “Poppin’s Pumpkin Patch Parade”. Kimberly also has her own Etsy store and she created handmade items with quotes from “Halloweentown”. #dead
The people behind the celebration in St. Helen’s know exactly what they’re doing because they had a surprise performance from the Sanderson sisters! (”Hocus Pocus”) It was a true blast from the past and I felt like a kid getting to visit the North Pole. The people who live in St. Helen’s go all out and decorate their houses and bring their classic cars to the center of town and decorate them as well. St. Helens itself is super cute with shops, restaurants, and a great view of the Columbia River. It’s 45 minutes North of Portland and makes for a great weekend trip in the PNW! As grandma Aggie Cromwell would say “Magic is very simple. All you’ve got to do is want something and then let yourself have it!”
