The Casperan Family: A Brief Introduction
Hisirdoux “Douxie” Casperan: Successor to the Master Wizard Merlin, eternally 19 years old, and also Very Tired about 90% of the time. His job is to keep an eye on the magical stirrings around Arcadia. As such, when a baby in the Arcadian foster system began exhibiting “otherworldly powers,” it fell to Douxie to find the child a suitable caretaker. That child is now his son, so he clearly didn’t do his job correctly.
Zoe Casperan: Employee of Hex Tech and talented hedgewitch. She was “dragged into this mess” when Douxie asked her to be Lin’s mum (not that she and Douxie weren’t already practically married at that point). Zoe is brash, stubborn, outspoken, and fiercely loyal. She has no idea how to be a mum, so she’s just been winging it for the last 17 years.
Archie: Douxie’s Familiar and the unofficial Therapy Cat of the house. His relationship with Lin straddles the line between uncle and older brother, depending on what the boy needs.
Nari of the Eternal Forest: The quiet and diminutive presence in an otherwise completely chaotic household. Though she is no longer in any danger from the Arcane Order, Douxie remains her guardian/caretaker/adopted brother. Lin confides in her more than anyone else. She is likely the only thing keeping the Casperan house from falling into complete bedlam.
Merlin “Lin” Samuel Casperan: A boy with wild, uncontrollable magic, and mysterious origins. Lin came to the Casperan household at just six months old, and was officially adopted into the family at age two. Though he is mostly unbothered by the fact that no one seems to know what he is or where he came from, he often struggles to contain his magic and live up to the expectations that come with being the son of the only resident Master Wizard. He tries his hardest to come across as rebellious and arrogant, but he is kindhearted and loyal, and eager to prove himself to the people who love him.
