I like to leave my coworker highly inappropriate pastry drawings when I bring him snacks. Just noticed he saves them. It keeps me sane. This is Penny. Penny is a very cute, intensely frustrating cat. She’s a Savanna cat and very nervous and neurotic. She existed for 10 years of her life with only minor incidents. She’s a sweet, easily stressed very worried cat. She 100% loves people and is a great ambassador for people that think cats are aloof. Then Pants (our other kitty she was raised with) who she, loved, died. That’s when the bad behavior began. She rips huge chunks out of her fur all the time. And buffs literally every thing at cheek level possible. All of the corners of the house are brown from her cheek marking. Nothing makes her stop, drugs, allergy stuff, extra love, play, punishment (She has a kitty tree and enrichment)... nothing. It looks like someone has murdered a fluffy bunny every time I go into a new room. I have resorted to shaving her so her fur is too short to pluck. We got a new kitty companion thinking maybe she’s very lonely and grieving. She hates him of course, and it has compounded her behavioral problems. This new foray of bad-catism has now turned into peeing on stuff. While on vacation Penny peed all over our BRAND NEW couch while my mom was watching her. Just a note here... 50/50 vinegar and water solution works to get out cat pee. She got every cushion! She spent the remainder of her time while I was away locked in the spare bedroom by herself. She peed on the bed, but luckily there was a waterproof barrier. She made my poor moms life a living nightmare. Penny wants to be an only cat-child and clearly that’s not possible because we love our other puffs. I’ve never rehomed a cat... but I am close. She’s miserable, we’re miserable and our furniture, corners and vacuum full of fur are miserable. I don’t know how to make her feel more happy or secure. She is an adorable demon. I’ve had kitties my whole life and I have never met a cat I couldn’t handle. In case you ever wondered- this is what 50lbs of glitter looks like. It took all of this and a bit extra to glitter the fire and force field tube with Vi and Jack-Jack. The other picture was my super high tech (rolled up 11x17 printer paper) guide for the motion of the flames coming from Jack-Jack. I adopted a deaf kitty! It's been three weeks and he doesn't have a name yet, so by all means, SUGGEST SOME! He's very angular, looking more rat than cat. He has a substantial nose and is in general sort of a strange kitty (but sweet). He has adult-like features which makes him look like a mini cat than a kitten. That one time I lit a baby on fire. For real though, I hadn't used an airbrush in 15 years! Sometimes you gotta go for it. The first image is my little "bubble" test of Jack-Jack to show Pixar I could get his likeness as a rear painted image on a clear surface. The others are the final before installation with special effects. The human eye looks for two things- contrast and facial features. It's how our brains are programmed. Jack-Jack has flame animation in the fire and force field tube, but because you're moving so fast you may not notice. Jack-Jack's mask and eyes are the largest point of contrast so it's the only part you really register. In that split second as the vehicle passes it's enough to queue people to what is happening. Because JJ is lit with SFX from the rear the paint had to be translucent enough to let the light pass through. Queue monitors! Inspired by the Philco Predicta, the monitors in the Incredicoaster queue went through a few hands. The sketch was done by me on my iPad during a meeting (people need designs fast). It was then refined by the lovely and talented @paigiew07 and then finally into the hands of our capable production designer Aki where he hammered out the structural limitations. Perhaps unsurprisingly the design undergoes many small changes based on what you physically can and can't do. Before the Cookie Num Num cart went in our brilliant lighting designer Lesli dropped in some cool light for our man Frozone and warm light for fire baby Jack-Jack! I draw most stuff, but I used Modo to create every aspect of the look of the Incredocoaster. If I had questions on color or how anything was going to look I was able to quickly mock up examples. In his case it was the giant glowing logo on the front of the building. The question was black or red... black looked better.
