[Eyes narrow.] I did. Just doin' what my job is. [Sighs, turning back to his work hoping she'd give up and go. Realizes she didn't, and sighs again, looking back to her with a stern frown.] Depends, are you buyin'? Or just tryna waste my time?

*Nods her head, her eyes twinkling with determination.* I am, you’ll see!

*Turns to look at him, making mental notes of the pointers he was giving her.* Mhm.. *Turns to stare at the direction of her barn.* So I’ve noticed. I usually sense that something’s off when they suddenly start to behave weird; stop moving around so much and making less noise, stuff like that. *Starts walking towards her barn.* I’m not worried about the commitment part though, I’d agreed to that when I signed up to become a farmer. *Point ahead.* This way!

[Nods his head.] Yeah, stuff like that will usually give it away. Just make sure to keep an eye out, don't go off daydreamin'. Pay attention. [Follows her lead towards the barn, noticing everything in order as they make their way.] Well good. A lot of idiots don't realize the commitment and it's the animals that suffer for their owner's lack of brains. Seen enough of it.

"Oh. Oh, yes. Let’s just call the literal Mother Nature a child, I’m sure that’ll go over so well,” she sassed.

When he started freaking out about the hat, she couldn’t hold in a giggle. “What’s wrong? Don’t you like mangoes? They’re delicious! And your hat?”

Marina snapped her fingers again, and a black cowboy hat with a brown band around it popped onto her purple head. “Your hat’s mine now, buster!” She said, blowing a raspberry in his direction, only proving his point about her childishness.

"I still ain't buyin' it." Vaughn snapped, tossing the strange hat at the woman in attempt to hit her with it. 

"No I don't give a flyin' f--" His eyes widened with a mixture of anger and disbelief as his hat appeared atop the woman's head. As the disbelief faded, his anger only grew. 

"Listen here. I ain't got time for this crap." His eyes narrowed and his jaw stiffened as his anger swelled. "Give. It. Back."

New Places [Gwen&Vaughn]

He knew how to swim, right? Gwen grimaced as she looked at the surface of the water. If he didn’t know how, she would have to go in after him. It was her fault that he wound up in there. To not save him would be dangerous. When he finally emerged from under the water, she let out a sigh of relief. At least he knew how to swim.

Unfortunately, they were now back to how they were previously. Gwen couldn’t say anything about it. She did push him into the water, after all. Now he had every right to be angry. Before she could speak, she soon found herself within the water as well. The water was frigid and her lungs burned. Rising up, she coughed the small amount of water that pushed itself into her when she had fallen into the water.

She fixed him a glare and wrapped her arms around one of the many poles that held the pier up. Despite the cold water, it wasn’t enough to cool her temper. It still wasn’t wise to continue like this. Angrily throwing verbal abuses to one another. Closing her eyes, Gwen counted backwards from ten. Once she believed she was calm enough, she pulled herself out of the water. “Do what you want then,” she answered as she stood up. “I’m sure he won’t mind a bit of water company.”

Gwen looked at the dolphin who seemed happily chirping at who knows what. Wrapping her arms around herself, she turned and headed for the Inn. It would just be like karma to give her a cold. She hoped that didn’t happen.

After the initial shock of the incident wore of, Vaughn began to realize just how freezing the water was. With slow. rigid movements, he latched on to the pier, hoisting himself up, teeth clattering from the chill. "You... A-are... In-insane." He managed to spit out, sitting up and shoving his hands in his pits for any amount of warmth. 

Vaughn watched as the woman took off, and once she was out of sight, he got to his feet. There was no way he could make the trek home soaking wet in this weather, so his only option was to search for the town Inn. He shivering grew more violent as he walked around, searching for the building, and after what seemed like ages, he found what he hoped and assumed was the inn. 

The animal trader leaned into the door to open it, not wanting to move his freezing hands from the spot they were in, and he scanned the area for any signs of the innkeeper, he'd just stay the night, dry his clothes and be out of this insane town by the morning.

One purple eyebrow rose at his remarks. “Stupid prank, huh? You don’t think I’m real?” Her arms crossed as she made a face. How come so many humans didn’t believe she was who she said? Was it really so hard to believe?

"How about you listen here, bud! If you wanted a prank, I could give you a prank. I’ve dyed this pond pink so many times, I’ve lost count. I’ve glitter-bombed entire towns. I’ve even wet-willied a knight of Selphia! If I wanted to prank you, I would’ve done something more like this!"

She snapped her fingers, and a spark of purple swirled off of them. Suddenly, Vaughn’s black cowboy hat had become a Chiquita Banana fruit turban.

"Course I don't. I'm not an idiot." Vaughn responded, thinking about just turning and walking away right there. He didn't have the time or patience to play along with whatever scheme this was. 

She started to go on about pranking, which only confirmed his suspicions. "Look, whoever the hell ya are, I don't got time for yer juvenile pranks. Unlike some people who like to hang out in forests all day and act like children, I gotta job to attend to." That was the final straw, Vaughn turned to leave, no longer wanting any part of this.

But then he felt the weight on his head change, and he quickly reached above him and grabbed what he assumed was his hat off his head. Instead, he stared at the abomination in his hands. "The hell---?!" Vaughn wheeled back around, staring the woman in the eye. "What the hell did ya do with my hat?!"

((hello friend i am here and very sorry)) -blinks for a moment, taken aback, but her smirk soon slips back- Eh, I've heard some people like doin' that stuff for fun, y'know. -crosses her arms, nodding over to one of the sheep- I was wonderin', y'know, why they're supposedly better than regular sheep. -grins- You know why, dontcha?

Well then they'd be idiots for doin' it without pay. [Folds his arms across his chest and examines the woman in front of him.] Course I know why, tryna insult me? They're fed the best grains, raised on an open pasture off the island, I tended to each of 'em myself so I can assure the quality.

O-Oh … [Knowing for a fact that she won’t win this] Well, if you insist then I would be very glad for you to accompany me, Vaughn. [Small smile, nodding ever so slightly]

  [Stays silent for a few moments, the same, worn copy of “Peter Pan” that she always seemed to carry around is set first on the small stack of books] … Have you … [Turns to look at the man] Have you been well, Vaughn? It seems like it has been some time since we last spoke …

[Glad she doesn't try to argue her way out of it, and gives a simple nod, watching as she looks through the books at her side.] Hm...? [Looks rather taken aback that she asked about his well being and shrugs his shoulders in response.] Fine. Been fine. I ain't around the island much, so makes sense ya didn't see me. [Leans back in the bench looking over at her for a moment.] ... You been alright?

*Calms down once she takes in some fresh air, closing her eyes for a brief moment as the cold air made contact with her face.* Of course! *Places her hands on her arms, rubbing at them in an attempt to warm herself up.* I’ve got three adorable chickens; Maggie, Pepper and Chirp~ I’ve been taking care of for around a year now. *Nods her head, proud of her accomplishment.*

I’ve babysat a lot when I was younger, and now I noticed that taking care of animals isn’t that different from taking care of kids. *Adjusts her scarf around her neck, breathing out small puffs of air.* Only animals don’t drive you crazy when it’s time for them to go to bed. *Lets out a small chuckle, shaking her head as they neared her farm’s entrance.*

[Nods along as she lists the animals, at least she had some experience.] Interestin' names, but at least you have some clue about what yer doin'. [Shoves his hands in his pockets as he walks through the cold.] A year? Well, maybe yer ready, but I'll be the judge of that... 

[Listens to her story, frowning as he walks.] Well -- [Surprised by the knowledge, maybe she did know something after all.] Animals are a bit more complicated, they can't tell ya when somethin' is wrong, you gotta be able to know what it is. That's important to know. Plus, ya take care of animals their whole lives, it's a real big commitment. [Looks up to see that they've arrived at the farm, and starts scanning the area carefully to make sure things seem in order.] Hm...

[Pushes a strand of her ebony-colored hair away from her face and tucks it behind her ear as she waits for his response] … ! [Her eyes light up considerably as he agrees not to tell Regis] O-Oh! Thank you very much, Vaughn, I really do appreciate it but you really don’t have to stay out here if you don’t wish to do so, I’m perfectly capable of being on my own [Or so she tried to reassure herself that she’d be fine without a chaperon, so to speak] Hm? Oh … [Rubs her arm, thinking over his question] I have time, yes, but as for an exact amount I’m afraid I can’t give you that as I am unsure myself …

[His expression changes to a more stern one as she speaks, trying to assure him she'd be okay.] Don't be ridiculous, if your father did catch ya, and knew I passed by and let ya sit out here in the dark, he'd have my head. [Shakes his head releasing a quick sigh.] Besides, wouldn't sit right with me if I left ya out here alone either. [Folds his arms across his chest.] Well then we'll stay out here for a bit, but once it gets darker, I'll be walkin' ya home. [Nods his head, and gives her another stern look, but eventually relaxing into a softer one as he seats himself on the opposite end of the bench.]

[Was sitting on a bench, a few, older looking books stacked next to her] … [Looking to the sky at the stars and such, a small, smile spread on her face as she looked considerably calm] Mm? [Turns from the night sky to look at Vaughn] !!! G-Goodness! [Jumps up from her seat to face the cowboy] I was, I was just looking at the sky, that’s all, you see, in Winter some constellations come out that you won’t regularly see in Summer or so I read in one my books … [Fiddling with hands, her eyes downcast as he small smile turns into a light frown] My father usually won’t let me out of the house this late or at all but I tried to tell him that the stars look very much different this time of year however needless to say, he didn’t quite understand I ah, I’m only out here because he retired to his room earlier then normal b-but he still doesn’t know I’m out here so please don’t tell him, Vaughn—! 

[Raises his brow in shock as she jumps backwards, his frown deepening.] Hm... Stars? [Looks up to the sky, trying to see what she might be talking about - they looked the same as always.] Regis, huh? Well, he might have a point here it's gettin' dark, and there ain't anyone else about. [Turns to look back at her, not saying anything for a while. Thinks it over, finally giving a slow nod and speaking.] How long you got out here? I ain't got nowhere to be and it'd be a lot safer for you to be out here with someone. And don't you worry, I won't say anythin' to Regis, got no reason to talk to the man anyways. [Gives a slight smirk, looking up to the stars once more and still seeing the same sight as every night. Did they really look all that different in the winter?]

"Cal-verv-tu-trp," Jamie corrected, speaking slowly so the stranger understood him. "And yes, that is his name.” He slowly turned around to completely face the man, his arms crossed.

Vaughn scoffed in response, what a strange name from a strange dog. He almost felt sorry for the pup, but he seemed to be healthy enough. "Strange." He replied, shrugging his shoulders. "Guessin' ya didn't get that one outta a baby name book."

*Immediately hops off her seat, smoothing out her shirt and adjusting her rucksack on her shoulders.* Fine, I’ll give you a look around if it’ll put your mind at rest. *Puffs her chest out confidently, turning to the direction of the door and walking towards it.*

*Places a hand on her hip as she turns on her heal and shoots him a stern look.* He was a farmer for goddess knows how long, I’m pretty damn sure he’d taken care of cows at some point. *Jabs a thumb toward the door, signaling for him to follow along as she made her way outside.*

[Simply grunts in response, finishing up what he was working on and following her towards the door, shaking his head at her sudden confidence.] 

Maybe, but there ain't any here, so I ain't just gonna go takin' his word for it. [Frowns, continuing to follow her.] I'm comin', I'm comin'. [Walks out the door, slamming it behind them.] So, what, have you even raised a single animal before this?

Marina smirked and pointed a finger at herself. “Oh, you mean me?”

Walking smugly across the pond’s surface, her smirk grew into a fully-fledged grin. “I’m just the Harvest Goddess. This is my pond, ya know. I sensed you touching the water, so I thought I’d come say hi.”

She stepped onto the dry land looked him in the eye. “So… Hi. What can I do for you?”

The Harvest Goddess? What a load of crap, Vaughn knew that deities didn't exist and was now convinced this was some sort of elaborate prank. "Yeah, and I'm a harvest sprite, really funny." After his sarcastic remark, he got himself back to his feet, staring at the woman in front of him.

"You can't do anythin' for me, I just came here to take a break, not be pulled into some stupid prank. So give it up already."

Of course, everyone had to make a comment when he mentioned his dog’s name. Most just commented on the strangeness of the name, but never implied it was a bad name. The way this man asked his question struck a nerve,

"What was that?" Jamie turned his head some so that one eye was on the man.

The man turned to face him, and Vaughn immediately took it as a challenge. His tone was cold and confrontational, so matching it, he gave a simple reply. "I said, the hell kinda name is calverturnip?" Vaughn frowned, standing up to his feet and crossing his arms. "That what you named that poor dog?"

After looking around in the animal shop a bit, Claire spotted the silver-haired cowboy out of the corner of her eye and, without a beat, strode up to him, smirk beaming. "Excuse me~? I was just wonderin' 'bout the suffolk sheep you carry? Ya do work here, right?"

[Finishing some paperwork when he's interrupted by the blonde, and he briefly glances up before looking back to his work as he responds.] What 'bout them? And no, I don't work here, I just stand around fillin' work for the animals because it's fun.

Marina was, oddly enough, just floating around in the middle of the water. It was really the only place she could find where she couldn’t hear the sprites squeaking and complaining left and right. She didn’t really have to breathe air, so it suited her just fine.

Sensing a touch on the water, she floated up. Instead of her full Goddess outfit, she was wearing her peasant dress today. But the purple-haired woman couldn’t get rid of all of her innate tendency to show off, and stood barefoot on the water’s surface. She crossed her arms and smiled at the newcomer.

"Hey there, stranger!"

When the purple haired women appeared suddenly before him - standing on the surface of the water to boot, he simply stared in shock. His mouth opened, but no sound came out. Shielding his eyes with his hand, he muttered under his breath, not acknowledging the woman. "Jeez, I've gotta get a better nights sleep, dammit." Lowering his hand, he was surprised to see the woman still before him.

"Just - what the - what the hell?" His eyes widened to the point they could have popped right out of his head. And Vaughn blinked rapidly, trying to get rid of the illusion before him. "Who the hell?"
