Thoughts: The actuality that many teenagers view their towns in isolation, the events that happen seeming worldly important, their neighborhood a solitary world all its own, for the time being, is wonderfully portrayed here. It captures a specific point in time in the lives of the boys from whose point of view the story is told. The girls and their determined plight are fascinatingly portrayed in a way that pulls at your heart and leaves you contemplating life and its inevitable end, as well as the inevitable fact that time passes even after those we love are gone, a sense of melancholia lingering in the pages.
