Hearing a familiar voice from down the hall, Lorelei immediately checked around her. Last time she had seen Robb had been the day of nightmares and his voice just brought back the memories. But seeing as it was just her friend, Lorelei rushed over towards him and brought the witch into the tight hug. “It’s really good to see you again. Where did you head off to?”

The hug from the werewolf was a little unexpected, but it only took Robb a moment to process before his arms found their rightful place by tangling around her tiny frame, “Hey Lori,” he mumbled into her hair, smiling, “It’s good to see you too.” Pulling back, he glanced at her, “Back over to the States. Had to help my little sister with her big move to California.”

The dainty faery swivelled round to face the witch, her palms pressed against the edges of the cushioned chair, “You were gone?” Sybella smirked, her eyes squinting at the witch, “Hardly even noticed your disappearance.”

Scoffing, Robb stepped closer and sank through his knees a little, “Come here you rugrat,” he muttered, opening his arms wide, expecting Sybella to greet him with a hug.

Irma smiled as she watched the graduate student enter the castle, always pleased to see a returning presence. “Mister Storm, welcome back,” she greeted, keeping the smile on her face. “How was California? I checked the weather a few times while you were away, but I just hope you kept cool enough and hydrated enough.”

“Miss Vogel,” he replied with a nod, “Thanks. Glad to be back.” Tucking his hands in the pockets of his jeans, he shrugged, “California was great, if you couldn’t tell from my fantastic tan,” Robb smirked a little, hoping the whitelighter knew he was only joking, “And my sister is all settled into her new apartment. So far, so good. Did I miss anything while I was away?”

Allison looked up from her spot criss-cross on the floor, ceasing to ruffle through a small notebook full of physics formulas. “Ryan probably did,” she replied. “But the void was filled with Doritos and other foods that’ll kill us before we’re sixty.”

Smiling at the mention of his girlfriend’s name, he nodded, “Hey Ally -- well, I hope she did,” otherwise something might be awry in her relationship. “Glad to hear it she had the appropriate food to be comforted while I was away. Any Idea where she might be?”

Isaac was leaning against a wall, talking to one of his housemates, when he heard the familiar American accent of Robb Storm not too far away. Flipping the cap in his hand around aimlessly and shoving it on his head backwards, he looked over his shoulder. “Look what the fucking cat dragged in!” he shouted to the public present in general as he motioned toward Robb.

Robb smirked, the Irishman’s voice not going unnoticed, “Isaac, my man,” he said, holding out a hand for him to shake as the other clasped around his shoulder with a decisive pat. “Didn’t miss me too much while I was gone, I hope?”

“Oh, you were gone?” the fae said with a surprised look, as if noticing only now that he hadn’t been around “I’m sorry to inform you that your absence went unnoticed, Robb”. A soft chuckle followed her words, evidencing that she was teasing “Where did you disappear to?”.

“Your words, they bruise Julie, geez,” feigning to be hurt, he pressed a hand against his chest. “California. My ‘lil sister moved out and into her own apartment. Asked me to help her move. Then proceeded to guilt me into staying longer because sleeping in her own place somehow terrified her,” he chuckled and shook his head, “But, I guess she’ll just have to suck it up now.”

After a long flight followed by a long drive, Robb found himself setting foot inside Clearbrook Castle. Sighing, he looked around, “So, did anyone miss me while I was gone?” He chuckled lightheartedly. His trip to California -- to help his younger sister, Rachel, move in and settle in -- had taken him away from the Academy longer than he had anticipated. But it was pretty damn good to be back.

The library’s clock blinked 3:04 AM, and there lay a princess with her head in a book – quite literally. She had fallen into her slumber somewhere between the chapters of Global Security or Comparative politics, eyes shrinking with every word until they closed and she rested her head. 

“Ahh!” Sybella woke with a startle as her phone buzzed next to her ear. After a minute of regaining her bearings she looked around the room until her eyes settled on a familiar face. “Are you this sleepy too?” The faery asked, with a soft chuckle.

“I was. But then I had coffee. Pretty magical stuff,” he said, nursing a mug, “Want some? Fresh coffee beans from Chile.”

“It is such a beautiful day. We should go outside! Go swimming or gliding or just get some fresh air.”

“The lake is still freezing, dude. It’s still only spring.”

Hannah had found herself awake in the night, unable to sleep from an over crowded mind. It was storming outside, and it reminded her of bad memories. Finding a bowl of grapes, she brought them over to the counter and sat down, scrolling through her phone on her social media.

“And here I was thinking the entire castle was asleep,” Robb stated upon sighting the brunette in the Ravenscar common room. “What are you still doing up, Hannah?”

I think any time anybody sees the bad guy show emotion and you’re not hitting the audience over the head, there’s always a tinge of empathy for that individual.

“So, about that camping trip…” Karina leant across the desk in the library to the stranger, pushing her work aside for a brief moment. She was finished, anyway – this was all extra reading. She hadn’t gone on the trip herself, but there had certainly been enough talk about it around campus. “Did you go? Apparently it was all a little out of hand. Manticores – though I can’t say I’ve ever seen one.”

“I didn’t see one either,” Robb replied, crossing his arms in front of his chest. Unlike many of the students, he hadn’t strayed from the camping site and wandered around in the woods. “Figure they only roamed around the camping site, but were smart enough not to come too close.”

Once again, Ryan felt herself backing up. She needed a plan, something to get herself out of here since something told her that it wouldn’t be so easy just to say that she was leaving and walk out. As he glanced at the window, Ryan looked around for something she could use. This wasn’t her boyfriend - that much she had said over and over again in her head no matter how convincing this person may be. “Sounds like a really shitty way to live.” She responded before her eyes caught hold of a lamp. Not Robb. She reminded herself once again before raising it with her telekinesis and looked back at this person. “I’m going to throw this lamp at your face.” She said calmly, “Unless you stop spouting bullshit and tell me what the hell is going on. You’re not Robb - we’ve met before and you attacked him, me, other people. Robb wouldn’t do that.”

Robb turned around, watching the lamp hover in the air. He let out a chuckle, his hand making a grab for his stomach as the chuckle slowly transitioned into full on laughter. “Right. Of course you will,  honey,” Robb then glanced at the lamp and with a flick of his wrist, sent it flying against the wall. “Do you really think you’re stronger than me?” He asked, his nostrils flaring as he danced dangerously close to the line between simply being menacing and rage. “I’m a fucking Storm, Ryan. Do you know what that means?” the furniture in the room began to shake as Robb’s anger grew.

“It’s what I was born to do.” That, and a whole lot of other things. Living a life of luxury, Sybella never complained, and she wasn’t going to now either. “I like how we always build something for ourselves.” The princess said, out of the blue, “We build pillow forts – désolé – pillow kingdoms, and tents.” She paused, “More like you build all the tent, but still.” At his wink, she stuck out her tongue as if she was six again. “I’ll arrange the snacks.” Sybella said, picking up a bag of crisps.

Sticking the tent poles through the slots, he smiled at Sybella. “Let’s face it, Sybella. You should just stick to the pillow forts. Tents are for advanced, master builders, like myself,” he shot a glance her way and winked, only teasing. “You brought snacks?” he perked up, firmly planting his foot on top of one of the tent’s pegs and digging it into the ground by applying all his weight and some additional pressure, “See. This is why we’re the best tent buddies. We’re the dream team.”

His touch was familiar to Ryan, like for a moment nothing had changed. Her hands reached up to his cheeks as she leaned in to kiss his lips softly, like she was apologising for doubting him all along.

She felt at ease for a moment yet there was something… off. As Ryan pulled away from the double the girl smiled something that read ‘nice try’. “Except… Robb doesn’t just care about me. Other people matter to him.” She patted his cheek in a mocking fashion before pushing him away. “I don’t care how convincing you think you are, I’m not an idiot and I can tell when you’re lying to me.”

Robb winced a little when she pulled away, staring her down and letting her speak. He rolled his head back and chuckled. “Oh right, he cares about people.  That was always a good act, pretending to care about people when really,” he wandered around the room, halting once he reached the window, staring out of it, “Really, I couldn’t give a rat’s ass. People only matter when they’re useful ...” he glanced over his shoulder and winked at Ryan, “Or hot.”
