The instruction caused Lorelei to pause, and her cheery outlook dimmed for a brief moment. “O-Oh, yeah, definitely. I wouldn’t want to ruin it at all.” And she only grew a little more anxious at Irma’s comment. “Oh no, no, no! I promise it’s not going anywhere weird, I just have been wanting to make a scrapbook of my time here and now I finally have a camera to do so,” she frantically explained.

Irma smiled a little, still shaking her head again to decline the possibility of a photograph. “I understand you’ll safeguard it, but I don’t like leaving things up to chance. If you’d like, you can take a picture of my office and I’ll make myself unseeable for it. Otherwise, I really prefer not to be in photographs. There’s too much coincidence in life, and a number of people still alive think I’m dead.”

Lennon squints at Vogel in his usual resignation of ‘oh, it’s you again’ with a small sigh. It’s a force of habit at this point which trumps the fact that he actually has a business to settle with her. “Um, what did I do this time?” he looks at her incredulously at her demand for a talk. In God’s honest truth, he has been behaving, not that he gives her any credit of it. He adjusted, he supposes, slowly but gradually. And punching people isn’t just as fun without alcohol in your system. “I’ve just got something for you.” He shoves a paper bag, inside of which is a mug. “You’ve left yours at my place but I’ve grown kinda fond of them, so here’s another. Now we’re even,” explains him.

Irma peered inside the bag, at first just noticing the white and she was about to make a comment about how white stains easily when she realized there was some writing on it. She slowly removed it from the bag, lips tugging into a frown as she read the block print on it. “I didn’t expect one in return,” she pointed out, placing the mug back firmly in the bag and pushing it toward him. “As kind as the gesture is, I really don’t need it. And as for your first question, you’ve done nothing wrong, but I wanted to check in with you to make sure that’s completely accurate.”

The airbender looked up from his mobile when he heard Irma speak to him. He quickly finished sending a text to Thais and slipped the phone into the pocket of his jeans. “Am I in trouble?” the man joked, giving the Whitelighter a carefree smile. Some months ago the only reason the two of them talked was whenever he screwed up, but luckily for him, the relationship with the counselor had improved over the past semester. “Yeah, I could use some tea” he gladly accepted the offer and poured himself a cup and glanced back at her “You want one?”.

Irma just looked at him briefly, clearly not as amused as she could have been by his comment, and turned back to what she was reading. Once she was done, she entered the room and shook her head slightly at his question. “No, my cup is still hot,” she said, motioning toward the mug that was set on her desk next to a precariously tipping stack of files. Her office was reaching the point of clutter where it would soon be time for her to tear through it like a cleaning tornado and make the place look brand new again. “I just wanted to see how your term was going so far. And more importantly, how your students seem to be doing.”

Irma was distracted with looking over the papers on the corkboard in the hallway just outside her office. Glancing over her shoulder only long enough to see someone was there, she motioned for them to head toward her office where her door was wide open. “If you have a minute, I’d like to talk. There’s a fresh pot of tea just on the table if you’d like some. I’ll be in in just ten seconds.”

Lorelei pulled the old camera out of the box and immediately rushed to town and took a bunch of pictures of random objects. “I can’t believe I got this for only twenty pounds,” she gushed, recognizing one of the residents. “Oh, oh, could I take some photos of you?”

Irma stopped short when she saw a flash, smiling a moment later when she realized who it was pointing the camera around. “Twenty pounds or not, still be careful with it,” she instructed, smile turning into a slight frown. “I prefer not to be captured in pictures that might end up where I don’t know.”

“Fine.” He shoves his hands into the pockets, shrugs, jerks his head to the general direction. “Go on. I ain’t got all day.”

She let out a quiet huff and started toward the dunk tank, having a quick conversation with the operator until she was shown how to climb up onto the seat. She smoothed her jeans out and folded her hands neatly on her lap, looking toward Lennon daringly.

She narrowed her eyes at him. “Fine.”

Lennon opts not to answer that, simply squinting at her with clear disgruntlement.

“Do you know what you should try? The dunk tank.”

“No. Not really,” Christina said, taking a sip of her drink. She was only there for a day and that day included the night of the costume party and day one of this festival that she had never heard of.

“Why not? Then what drew you back here? Was it your cousin?”

“I agree and yup! The festival has definitely lifted my spirits during this hectic time of the semester—at least I’m almost done. As for the costume party c’était merveilleux! Wonder Woman Thais definitely kicked ass!” The werewolf paused before furrowing her brows, lips forming into a pout. “…That was until Howe took my sword and lasso away from me. It was fun while it lasted, but anyways how about you? I’m sure you’ve attended a bunch of these, but was there anything different or was it the same old same old?”

She smiled with a surprisingly open amount of warmth as she nodded. “The costumes were all wonderful, from what I saw. Picking a costume contest winner would have been too difficult.” She made no comment on Howe’s confiscation of Thais’s weapons, knowing it was probably for the best to remove as many sharp and dangerous objects as possible from a group of drunk supernaturals. “It’s the same setting every year, but it always changes. There are new people, it keeps it interesting. There’s always someone trying to get up to some trouble.”

How often our muses call: Rarely. If it couldn’t be done in an e-mail or text, they don’t work very far away from each other and she can orb in literally anywhere.
