What is this for? I'm glad you (hopefully) asked! This is a blog for The Mechanisms AU: The Consequences of Creation and Love (Or, CoCaL!). We'll talk about the AU by answering questions, providing updates on the master doc, talking about ideas, reblogging art, etc.!
What even is the AU about? Well! It's The Mechanisms but Beauty and the Beast! A lot of thought and effort is put into this and it's very detailed!
How the hell did this start? I, Blazeismyname, was begged to go to a friend's musical of Beauty and the Beast. That combined with my OC who loves Disney and I was drumming up a joke AU for created a singular post from me that spiralled into a whole thing

Any pronouns but she/they is good! I have a pinned post on my main for more. Honestly this au definitely spiraled out of control but I'm not complaining a bit I love it here.
@unsat-and-strange- Hello! I'm Ebb. I draw things sometimes! (This au is one of the biggest things staving off art block rn lmao) I'm also working on figuring out this whole writing thing. I use they/she mostly because that's what I'm used to but I'm really not picky. More in my pinned post
@moons-br- Yo, I'm Moons. I'm a writer who sometimes draws thing. I use any pronouns with a preference for they/fae or any neo/xeno + mixed pronoun uses. My page has my personal intro that goes into stuff more. I have dyslexic so when I'm writing it's very noticeable lmao. I'm probably the one with the least ideas here but I do love me a good silly au and I'm gnawing at the bars of my cage :)

I, Blaze, had hit a rut with CoCaL a while back. I also had other projects and life. But, recently, I've been back on the grind. Currently, there are about 7 canon characters (Lyfrassir, Ashes, Tim, Bertie, Marius, Ivy, and Raph) and a bunch of lesser CoCaL original characters.
In addition, I need to get through the main plot and other things such as detailing the important wars, and other lesser character like Ulysses and Galahad (And maybe the special little gods ;) ).
All in all. There's a lot I'm getting through. However, the canon characters (and the royal throuple since I already did them lol) will be coming out later, along with a special little surprise from me!
Thank you all for the support on this silly little passion project in the past and in the future, hopefully. I'm working my best to ensure quality and ease for everyone! I'm really happy that this story has gotten to so many people's eyes and interests, it's actually flabbergasting.
Hopefully the canon character will be done by April or May, consider that the servants aren't as lore heavy as say Brian, Jonny, or Nastya. I look forward to sharing it with you, but don't take this as a promise. Take this as an estimation with many changing factors.
What's, in your opinion, the most fitting song on the CoCaL playlit???
Eeeeeeeeee okay sorry I took so so so long to try to answer this lol. I keep thinking about an answer then I'd forgot to actually respond and I also keep forgetting I made that playlist cause I for sure have more songs to add to it by now!!
I actually still don't think I can pick a song for this question, somewhat cause I'm very indecisive but also because I did pick a lot of songs to focus on different specific stories. By know there's so many backstories for each character and plenty of OC lore that it's all branched out! CoCaL is made up of a bunch of solitary tales that eventually intertwine into a whole.
"Egg and Soldier", "Sleeping Giants", and "Passerine" are so so so good for the war trio and their story. "Inkpot Gods", and "Dear Arkansas Daughter" fit into the complicated feelings between Nastya and Jonny deliciously for me. "Beauty", and "A Place by a Lake" make me go insane over the royal trouple OCs. I think "White Rabbit" wound up there for Ivy, and "Sweet Bod" and "Cicada Days" for Raphaella. A handful of silly tracks gifted to my favorite sillies Toy and Marius, like "See You Tomorrow", "Like Ships", and "The Wind and The Rain".
There ARE plenty of fun tracks I picture for the general main storyline though, like all the Beauty and The Beast tracks and "Interdimensional". So yummy.........
I'd also mention that I can go into detail about any of songs, which I still can, but uuummmm admittedly some of the songs I picked out to put in there I forgot why I put in there lol.
What's your favorite short story for CoCaL? Mostly asking about the ones you wrote but it'd be cool to know your favorite in general as well!!!
ooo picking a favorite is always really hard!!! i can't pick a favorite overall cause im chewing on everybody else's writing like a starved feral animal. but of my own i think (as of now) its still "like rubbing wine stains into rugs" from the little marius and toy collection. i wanted to do more for that short story, but im still happy with how it turned out. i like the vibes and casual intimacy :)

Oh, by the way! Blaze here, taking a brief, at least a week, break from the doc because I'm 8k words in and getting bad burn out from it + started a new fic by accident.
WHATS THIS???? ART???? OF COCAL LYF???? more likely than you think! So in the corner are the colour refs for them because I think the other mods/anyone who draws them would like that with what colour goes where.
ignore the fact that I didn't draw their hands and I'm kinda bad at drawing hoofs lol. I also gave them fluffy ears to match their wings because pretty! they are a Fae and not human in this au. I also made them more rounded rather than the sharp points because it makes them seem more friendly in a "deceiving you" kind of way that fae are kind of known for.
hello all!! we the mods decided it would be a pretty solid idea to fill everyone in on the discussion we've got going on in the discord so I, mod Ebb, am here for that noble purpose!!
anyone else remember that one line in the bifrost incident, Thor saying "I don't care if my vengeance will us into civil war"? friends, that civil war is the one our lovely war trio got themselves tangled up in!! on one side, Thor and the revolution he finally decided to support, along side any fae who wanted to get involved and most of the part- fae polulation. on the other, Odin, trying desperately to keep control on her country, and manipulating her people into fighting this war for her.
Loki was one of the top researchers for Odin, she and baldur started a project with the intended goal being a magically enhanced missile that would wipe out whole areas of land and poisoning and corrupting the magic within (which explains why lyf lost their connection to the wild for a while!!) when Loki realized how far Odin was willing to go to maintain control over the land she defected, taking most of the research she had collected with her. and she joined the revolution! next bit is just my idea, haven't brought up the idea, but rocks mentioned how in the classic story Loki tricks baldurs blind brother hod into throwing a mistletoe dart at baldur, which kills him. so what if Loki comes back to try to assassinate baldur since he was the other big mind behind Odin's project and Loki just needs to buy the revolution some time, she idk maybe poisons him or something and gets hod to take the drink to baldur? she gets caught on the way out, however, and survives an absolutely horrendous time as a prisoner of war while Odin forces her to finish the project
thor is pretty solidly on Odin's side of the fight until he finds out that Loki has been kept alive as a prisoner, he defects and joins the revolution. just spitballing again but what if after the magic bomb goes off he travels back to the capital, kills Odin, and takes her place on the throne? idk I need to think more about Thor, he's been on my mind today
the bomb!! Odin managed to keep it secret enough that when it went off she could claim the royal court knew nothing about it, it must have been the soldiers going too far, she was planning on prosecuting any survivors as war criminals to maintain the good image of the crown. Tim, Bertie, and their squad were assigned to escort the bomb to it's detonation location. they didn't know what it was. when it went off it wiped out hundreds of square miles, leaving survivors very few and far between and badly injured. Tim was looking right at the blast when it went off. when they got picked up by a retrieval squadron looking to capture any survivors they realized that their country had straight up planned for them to either die or take the fall, so they burned down the camp and went on the run.
I think that was all we got figured out? but please add on anything I missed or other things y'all come up with! ok byeeeee (scurries back to my own blog to minimize any confusion if this turns into a full thread)
