Jace picked up after the first ring, "Hello?" He sounded a bit hesitant, nervous.

He had finished the bridal party's hair hours ago and had gone through the work day as per usual just in a lot less pain which was shocking to him to say the least. He had been looking up colors on his phone when the other called. Having seen them for the first time he didn't know what they all here called.

"It's good to hear your voice, Jace."

Luca smiled as he held the phone to his ear, closing his eyes.

"I'm still at the shop if you want to meet up. Of I can bring food to your place. I want to see you. I need to see you. I've been waiting for you for so long."

"Hello Luca.. I.." Normally the pain and the fatigue dealing with it would have him calling an early night. He wiggled his fingers and toes and realized he wasn't tired. A full day no pain.

"Yeah I can come over there... ummm I just need to take some meds and I'll be over." He could feel an over stimulation headache coming.

He listened and blushed gently, especially when he was touched again. The man shrinked a bit like he was self-conscious at the physical contact, and unused to it.

Feeling his own magic hum made him feel nervous he worriedly looked around before back to Luca when he spoke again.

"I'm Jace... I... I think..." Jace got cut off by his phone timer ringing, "Shit! I got to go sorry I'm gonna be late if I don't ah.... here my number." He made a card appear in his hand and all but shoved it in the other witch's hand, "Sorry but I really do have to go." And before anything else could happen, he was out the door running with the flowers in hand.

Luca felt as if Jace should have left a shoe behind with how he had run off. He looked down at the card and smiled softly as he slipped it into his pocket to give Jace a call later.

After closing up the shop, he sat on the counter and called up Jace. It was around eight in the evening. He hoped that Jace would be available.

"Hm? Oh no, I'm the hairstylist for the wedding." He smiled gently eyes looking around at all the colors the second the other witch turned away.

Blinking Jace looked at the flowers, "You sure, it's not my budget..." he paused, looking the flowers over processing too many things at once before it hit him, "Wait a date? Why would you owe me that?" The witch looked up a blush on his cheeks.

"Ummm no I don't know what our magic dancing means I'm sorry."

"It happens to two witches who are meant to be one. In other words...I am your soul mate and you are mine. Our magic danced to show that we belong with one another."

He reached out and gently touched the other's skin, feeling the vibrations of their magic trying to reach one another again. It wouldn't though...not unless they were intimate.

"So I think I owe you a nice date, don't you? I'm Luca."

Jace continued to rub his back and hug the man, “I know it is…. But you don’t have to fight, you get to just be you… And I’m going to change everything so that no one has to go through what either of us did when becoming champions. I promise.” He held on a bit tighter. Jace didn’t get to retire. He would eventually but he would never get to exist in the mortal realm as human ever again. His human body was long dead.

“But that’s just it. For almost half my life, I’ve been a champion. I don’t know who I am. I haven’t the slightest clue.”

He pulled from the hug and looked up at the godling.

“Will you guide me?”

Jace looked down at him. Could he really help him? Guide him?! Jace only knew how to be a champion and a god. But this is one of his champions, technically, and he needed to help him.

"Yes I can... But I am not above admitting when I'd need help.. I know some people here in this plan, ex champions who can also guide you if you would let them... I never got the chance you or they had to be human... So they would be helpful support."

Jace walked over and gave him a gentle hug, “You’re not a mess you’re just figuring things out.” He whispered, “And that’s okay… You’re allowed to cry and to be upset.” He rubbed the man’s back gently not letting go unless the other did.

Oli didn’t understand it. It had been so long since he had been held in such a way that…he relaxed fully into the hug. He closed his eyes, and took in the other man’s pleasing scent.

“It’s been so long. To suddenly change everything. It’s…crazy…to know I won’t have to fight anymore.”

Jace continued to rub his back and hug the man, "I know it is.... But you don't have to fight, you get to just be you... And I'm going to change everything so that no one has to go through what either of us did when becoming champions. I promise." He held on a bit tighter. Jace didn't get to retire. He watched the shift and the crying summoning a handkerchief and offering it to the other, “Its okay to cry though you’ve been through a lot.”

He shifted slightly, “Would you like a hug? Or some chocolate?” He offered not sure what to do.

Why did a hug sound so appealing?

“It’s been a long time since I’ve had a good hug. I know we don’t know one another well. But if you would be willing. I could really go for a hug right now.”

He chuckled.

“God, I’m a fucking mess.”

Jace walked over and gave him a gentle hug, "You're not a mess you're just figuring things out." He whispered, "And that's okay... You're allowed to cry and to be upset." He rubbed the man's back gently not letting go unless the other did.

Jace ate a bit more food. Humming, “I’m sorry you had to go through all that and happy you can retire.” He smiled, “You deserve it.”

“I’m happy too.”

But was he? What was he going to do with himself if he didn’t have to save people? He supposed he could go to school, or start a band. He had always been interested in music and he played guitar. He had a nice singing voice and plenty of lyrics in a journal he kept.

But what he wanted most? It was someone to share his life with.

He chuckled as tears started to fall against his will.

He started brushing them away.

“I don’t know why I’m crying.”

He watched the shift and the crying summoning a handkerchief and offering it to the other, "Its okay to cry though you've been through a lot."

“Yes well before I was given my position… I was a mortal just like you. I preferred portals or doors but fate’s champions are those the god of Fate allows to hop realities and planes… Our old boss… He wasn’t one for instructions just sent us this way and that so we can change fates of people and save the day.”

“He kind of sounds like an asshole, taking kids and making them killers. I’d probably be dead now though. My parents were killed by home invaders and…I was so close to being killed before the door opened. I guess I should thank the bastard.”

He sighed.

“But it’s been a hard 14 years.”

"Yeah having met him he kinda was... Also the job was driving him crazy...not that that's an excuse." He Chuckled

Jace ate a bit more food. Humming, "I'm sorry you had to go through all that and happy you can retire." He smiled, "You deserve it."

“You can ask me what you wish to know and I can try and answer.” Jace said with a smile, “I was in similar shoes as you, not entirely the same but similar. So I have some answers from that and I could always point you in the direction of our fellow retired champions if I think they would have a better answer.”

Jace smiled at the compliment before eating some food himself, “I’m glad you like it. I can give you the recipe you should be able to find all the ingredients in that realm you came from.” He took a sip of his lemonade.

“I make a mean stew or roasted meat over a fire. But I’m not sure about anything else.”

He chuckled softly.

“You said you were in similar shoes. What did you mean by that. What are ‘champions’?”

“Ah I see that can be arranged, my apologies for the misunderstanding. But I say you have just as much a place here as I do… Both ex-champions of the old god of fate.” He got the man a cup of water with ice.

“If you want a fancy juice drink I can make one… I don’t drink alcohol anymore either.” He made himself a lavender lemonade before sitting down and placing both drinks on the table.

“Water is fine.”

He looked at the God of Fate that sat before him. His head tiled. There was so much he wanted to ask, but with this being the new god of fate, he doubted that he had the answers.

So he took a bite of food, and let his shoulders relax.

“This is really good.”

"You can ask me what you wish to know and I can try and answer." Jace said with a smile, "I was in similar shoes as you, not entirely the same but similar. So I have some answers from that and I could always point you in the direction of our fellow retired champions if I think they would have a better answer."

“You don’t need an identity here well not papers like most places… You are in the Fate god’s domain. There are others around a few towns and cities but no need for paperwork.” He explained.

“Well it’s a good thing I made it mild then… If you want more spice there’s red pepper flakes, to lessen it there’s some cheese.” He pointed to the two on the table, “What would you like to drink?”

“I think you misunderstand. I want to go back to the world where the church is. My things are there and…well…you need an identity there.”

He shrugged.

“I don’t belong in the world of gods. I’m a man. As for a drink? Water. I don’t drink alcohol…anymore.”

"Ah I see that can be arranged, my apologies for the misunderstanding. But I say you have just as much a place here as I do... Both ex-champions of the old god of fate." He got the man a cup of water with ice.

I could hire you if you wish for spending money… But we can go over that later dinner and free you from the old fate god’s path first.” He walked to the path leading to the back of the house with an even bigger garden, a patio lit with string lights and a dinner table set and ready for them.

“I hope you like spicy pasta I made chicken rigatoni.”

“I don’t know, honestly. I haven’t had spicy in a long time. Most worlds I’ve been to have been hard to find spices. My food has been pretty bland. I used to like spice though.”

He sat down, blanket still wrapped around him.

“I have plenty of money. It’s the identity that’s the problem. I don’t exist in this reality. If you can forge that…then I can have a home and career of my own.”

There was soft grass under his feet the sun hung in the sky all and all he was in a warm garden in front of a stone house. Jace came next and wrapped a blanket over his shoulders, “I’ll keep that in mind when sending that where you wish to go.” The portal closing behind him.

“Do you need help getting to the dining area? It’s okay if you do.”

The blanket is warm and he’s thankful for it. He pulls it tighter around himself before looking around. The garden is beautiful.

“I don’t want to go anywhere. I want to stay here. I’m tired of going from place to place. If this is to be my final destination then so be it.”

He shrugged.

“I can walk. Just a bit cold.”

He chuckled gently at that. "I suppose you can stay with me in fate's domain.... I could hire you if you wish for spending money... But we can go over that later dinner and free you from the old fate god's path first." Jace smiled, “I might not have all the answers I’m pretty new to my post the old guard didn’t leave me a lot of backstory just a rulebook… Not gonna lie he was a jerk.” He took out some scissors his eyes glowing for a moment before cutting into the air revealing a portal

“I’m Jace the fated nice to meet you Oliver.” He smiled, “You first the portal closes once I go in.”

Oliver didn’t like portals. So he sighed as he stood and walked through it. The feeling of ice cold water washing over him had him gasping as he entered the other’s ‘home’. He curled in on himself as he waited for his temperature to get back to normal.

“I hate those things. Door ways are much more comfortable forms of travel.”

“I’m being honest I have to give you a job before setting you free… I just figured you’d like a retirement dinner ” Jace looked sincere.

“Honestly?”

His body sagged.

“That would be wonderful. But…I also want answers. I’ve never had them. Why was I chosen for this? And what is the purpose of it? I don’t understand. I was just a broken kid tossed into a world I had only read about in books. I never got a chance to mourn for my parents.”

He looked at the other.

“You got a name? I’m Oliver but I imagine you knew that.”
