Case#006 - The Haven’s Jane Doe
The fishermen were understandably spooked.
What should have been a simple task of bringing in fishing nets left out overnight turned into a nightmare as a body was pulled into the boat, the bloated corpse entangled within the netting.
She assisted her small team of Envoys in bringing the body ashore from where it had been abandoned aboard the small fishing skiff by the fishermen, depositing her upon the dry ground up the bank so that the field examiner could look the corpse over.
The damage done to the body, not only from the previous series of torture before the victim's death, but from the aquatic creatures, carrion, and the netting that cut into the bloated flesh was substantial.
Adra felt a wave of pity for Medic Song who would have to perform the required autopsy of the body once it was brought back, it was certainly not a task she envied.
It was another case she did not look forward to putting into a report.
Case#005 - The Cascade’s Jane Doe
It seemed like it was all getting out of hand.
Adra stood there with a pensive look about her features, hovering as the field examiner conducted a preliminary inspection before the body would be carted off to Song’s autopsy table.
The extent of the damage done to the woman was savage, to the point she was almost unrecognizable and she felt her gut churn with anger.
With each murder, her desire to catch the culprit with her bare hands intensified, along with the desire to inflict bodily harm should she get so lucky.
She stood off to the side, the report in her hands as the envoys drug the poor woman’s body from the thick, dense shrubbery that grew wild between a cluster of birch trees, their white bark stained with blood long dried by now.
The woman would be avenged, along with the other victims of The Ritualist killer, Adra would personally see to that.
Urthryn had spent hours combing through the reports and evidence that had been stockpiled on the cases pertaining to the White Mantle insurgence.
It was maddening how those responsible for so many brutal killings continued to elude her grasp.
In addition to keeping the nature of the majority of the murders out of the public eye, she was also tasked with spreading her few field agents unreasonably thin over the areas where the bodies where discovered.
It seemed as though all of their lives had been placed on the back burner in their scramble to try and get a leash on this. Her agents even started sleeping in the barracks rather than going home, working around the clock until they dropped in the hunt for who was now being labeled as “The Ritualist”.
The manner in which the crimes were carried out, the fanaticism and methodical mayhem in the torture performed on the victims- largely female- spoke of someone disgustingly sadistic and misogynistic, someone who delights in inflicting unimaginable pain onto others weaker than themselves.
It was unforgivable. The images in the photos taken of the crime scenes burned into her mind. They were sickening.
As the reports continued to fall onto her desk, she scoured them relentlessly for clues, taking notes on everything and anything that stood out to her, anything to tie them all together in a way that made sense.
Too many.
Far too many of these cases were popping up as the White Mantle continued their assault on the people of Kryta. And she vowed she would put an end to it.
