Brb gonna go cry my eyes out I just realized that Itachi Uchiha's situation around "protecting" Sasuke is damn near the same outcome of how my mom has tried to keep protecting me. Like, to love someone so much, but also to pick all the worst decisions for raising them out of stress and love, and the loved one then takes on the outcome of these bad decisions. I never realized how strong of a theme generational trauma is in the Naruto story until reading through Itachi Shinden. Like, 'cycles' are a motif, especially with many characters being reincarnations. But specifically, there's a lot of generational trauma and narrative showing what happens to people when pain is never processed and healed.

It's "I'm not a sasuke kinnie" until you realize you wrote a poem about how much you like a casual crush because they're so sunshiney and positive and the thought of them getting closer to you and seeing the horrible person you are makes you want to stay as far away as possible

Thinking about how Uchihas are always written as having a really intense stare or gaze to the reader, and how a "hyper-eye contact autistic" would be one of the few people to be their one true competition. The way they don't know when to break eye contact, how they look at them because of their own interest, unaffected by what they're supposed to think of Uchihas, hell it might even be intimidating to them.

Or maybe Uchihas are just autism coded, idk
