she bites the inside of her cheek to keep her smile at bay. he’d hate to hear it,
but barbara thinks damian is a bit predictable at times. it’s not often, to be fair,
and most of the family could likely have figured this much when it comes to pets.
nonetheless, barbara keeps it to herself and instead quietly considers his words
as she pets the cat.
“ i sincerely hope that’s not what you think of me. ”
an inquisitive gaze is directed his way, but not for very long. damian’s thoughts on
her are not something she’s actually interested in hearing; if only because she’s not
up to fighting a child tonight.
“ of course i won’t hand him over to the pound, but i don’t have time to care for him myself. i’m too busy; it’d hardly be fair. i guess – i’ll just have to find him a good owner. ”
the teen gives a slight lift of his shoulders. no, it’s not what he thinks of barbara. despite outward appearances, he does care for the family members that had had gained since he had been brought to gotham. he had known them all for six years, and eventually they had begun to grow on him. not that he would ever tell any of them that. best to let them think that he despised them all.
his gaze darts back to the feline in her grasp. of course damian has plenty of room for the pets that he has. wayne manor is large, and the tower only gives him more room. it wouldn’t be too much trouble to take the cat, given that pennyorth stayed at the manor. he could have this one remain at the tower.
“hm. i suppose that i have the room available to take the animal.”
