This is the Wikileaks Documentary. It goes for 50 minutes, if you have time, have a browse.

Does Wikileaks put lives at risk?
Who hasn’t heard of Julian Assange, it seems like every country has a vendetta against the man. Huckabee has called for his execution and Gingrich calls him an enemy combatant, while Obama wants him for espionageand Clinton charges him of “an attack on the international community”. But why? Because he is the man behind the infamous Wikileaks. The prevailing charge against Wikileaks is simply that it endangers American and other lives.
Sowhyiswikileaksagoodthingagain.com (2010). So, Why is WikiLeaks a Good Thing Again?. [online] Available at: http://sowhyiswikileaksagoodthingagain.com [Accessed: 6 Sep 2012].
One would presume that the released documents list names of individuals who would be compromised should they become known to the “enemy”, whoever that may be at the time. However, that is not the case at all, all documents before being leaked, are sanitized of personal information like specific names. How then does Wikileaks put lives at risk? According to the Pentagon: “We have yet to see any harm come to anyone in Afghanistan that we can directly tie to exposure in the Wikileaks documents.”
Bbc.co.uk (2010). BBC News - UN urges US and Iraq to probe Wikileaks torture claims. [online] Available at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-11632839 [Accessed: 6 Sep 2012].
How, then, can the faces of media outlets make such cursory claims? The answer, of course is that journalism has become a lost art at least in the mainstream. High ranking government officials should be held to a higher standard before lashing out but at this point in our governmental discourse, we know standards have gone out the window.
The reason people are so scared of Wikileaks, particularly the higher-ups in the administration, is because it makes clear on many levels the incompetence of the federal government. It causes embarrassment, and it is easier to band together against a fall guy like Assange, than admit that the government is vulnerable and, at least to an extent, incompetent regarding such things as potentially important to our national security as “state secrets”.
In this electronic age, if one document gets into the wrong hands, it can never be taken back. And where one site gets offed, ten more will pop up. Claiming that Wikileaks should be shutdown (or worse) is akin to Senator Jay Rockefeller’s claim that the “Internet should have never existed” because of the high amount of hacking attempts on high-profile DoD databases every day.

Online Shopping vs. Retail Shops
Australians were just not spending as much as experts had predicted. Why not? Was it because in these economically unstable times people are being more cautious about spending and deciding to spend less on material goods? No, according to Myer, David Jones and Harvey Norman, the drop in Australia’s retail sales is all because of foreign websites selling goods at cheaper prices.
Christopher Zinn, campaign director of Choice, stated that Australian retailers only have themselves to blame, with their “high prices, limited range and poor customer service that increasingly encourage people to use the internet.” However, the high prices, limited range and poor customer service you get in store are equally prevalent on the websites of these retailers.
Crikey.com.au (2012). Online retailing: impact on Australian retailers is yet to be felt | Crikey. [online] Available at: http://www.crikey.com.au/2011/07/27/underestimating-the-threat-of-the-internet-to-retail/ [Accessed: 5 Sep 2012].
A look at the Myer and David Jones sites shows that catalogues get precedence over any user-friendly online shopping experience, and even though it looks like you can, you can’t even buy online on the Harvey Norman site! That’s kind of sad in an age where a twenty-year-old fashion blogger can set up a basic online store overnight using just Blogger and PayPal.
The Internet is how people have learnt to shop, it is the future and Australian retailers like Myer, David Jones and Harvey Norman need to grab hold of it or lose this opportunity to come up against their foreign rivals.
"First things first. We have to admit that the average retail store these days is a bit like a man who is carrying 10 kilograms too much fat. Not as attractive as he could be, a bit slow to move and wheezing slightly when he stretches further than the remote control on the armrest of life. But make no mistake, he is not at death’s door. In fact with a simple change of diet and the right exercise he’ll have a six-pack and a swagger in an instant." - Peter Ryan

Cy-Cy-Cyberspace
Cyberspace, is a vaguely defined term - invented by William Gibson - that refers the non-geographical, virtual, even metaphoric space in which all computer objects "exist". The term can include the entire content on the Internet, as well as the objects created by virtual reality simulations and computer games. What you should know is that the exact definition of the term is non-existent. Some people use it as a metaphor for the Internet, some people use it as an all-encompassing term for general networking and anything associated with computers there are some people then who use the term in a philosophical sense, as an alternative reality of some sort. "All I knew about the word 'cyberspace' when I coined it, was that it seemed like an effective buzzword. It seemed evocative and essentially meaningless. It was suggestive of something, but had no real semantic meaning, even for me, as I saw it emerge on the page." -William Gibson, No Maps for These Territories.
Dux, E., Neale, M., Gibson, W., Ford, R., Docurama (Firm), & New Video Group. (2003). No maps for these territories: On the road with William Gibson. United States: Docurama.
It is noted in Book: ‘Communities in cyberspace,’ that cyberspace isn’t remotely or electronically controlled, and therefore is it grammatically correct to call it a VIRTUAL space. But, what the heck, Cyberspace it is. It’s essentially the world that we have created by uniting all computers into a mass of networks. Where we exchange images, sounds, texts, emails, videos, communicate in news groups. In some ways we travel through Cyberspace to: different countries, different worlds. We can travel through it with a mouse and keyboard, you can leave it when you like and it’s there when your back. It can be a dangerous place and a it can be a safe place. This is cyberspace.

What are the Olden Days?
A little research into the history of social networks over the past 15 years suggests that social networks collapse far more quickly than they are created. So it is probably time to ask the question is the collapse of Facebook inevitable? and, is it actually possible to build a social network that is immune from collapse? Most studies conclude, no. In the end the users abandon their digital nests because they become bored with yesterday and decide to go in search of tomorrow. Hence "cascading failure is the inevitable end game" for all social networks no matter how big they become at the height of their popularity.
Pultar, E. Raubal, M. A case for space: physical and virtual location requirements in the CouchSurfing social network,
"It would appear to be self-evident that Social Networks are a risk of rapid collapse through Cascading Failure (i.e. one or more of the high-capacity nodes catches a cold (i.e either becomes bored and gives up, suffers congestion failure (i.e. cannot process all the relationships in a timely fashion) or discovers a new alternative) and this creates a viral reaction (i.e. Chain reaction) that kills off most, if not all, of the other nodes in the network."
Pultar, E. Raubal, M. A case for space: physical and virtual location requirements in the CouchSurfing social network,
Today I suspect the key to understanding the problem of social network longevity is simply the fact that Information Technology renders relationships meaningless. And I will leave you with this, “We live at a time when friendship has become both all and nothing at all… [So] In retrospect, it seems inevitable that once we decided to become friends with everyone, we would forget how to be friends with anyone.

"When the target was present in the array, 12% picked the wrong person and 18% said they were not present (overall only 70% correct). When the target was not present in the array 70% still matched the target to someone in the array."

Searching for IT and Surveillance Cameras This topic is very broad and It was hard to find anything useful on the net. Most search results came back with job offers.. So to improvise, this is JUST about surveillance cameras.
Being a HUGE NCIS and CSI fan, I've always thought the use of surveillance cameras to 100% identify suspect faces was far fetched. And I was right;
"Surveillance cameras, as they are currently used, are almost useless for the identification of people. The poor resolution of surveillance images means that it is likely that many of the spatial frequencies important for face recognition will not be present. In addition, the low resolution means that compression DCT blocks will interact strongly with the spatial frequencies important for face recognition."
