Graduating!
So, I graduate college in the next few weeks, May 8th, to be precise. Rushing around right now to finish the last of my classes, and prepare myself for graduation/having to go out into the world and adult.

“See?” he said, shaking his head, but he’d’ve sounded more forlorn if he weren’t smiling back at her. “I knew it. Most of us guys, we haven’t got a prayer.”
Her breathing was barely audible until the moment it paused. He glanced at her in alarm, then immediately looked away, embarrassment mingling with irritation and the remnants of shock. He bit his tongue - don’t do that.
(Stupid. Worst thing that’ll happen, you’ll worry her by jumping like a scared rabbit. The blood loss was the issue, and she wasn’t even pale - She was blushing, for god’s sake.) He carefully smiled, fixing his face before he looked back at her. “Say, girl. What do you do when you’re not getting yourself assaulted?”
The pink of her cheeks deepened as he smiled at her. “I wouldn’t say that.” Celeste offered, her voice light as she spoke.
Her breathing slowed down now, her panic was setting in. She could feel her throat starting to close itself up, her chest feeling tight. Her attempt to monitor her breathing was failing and it hitched, picking up again as he spoke.
“It’s Celeste.” she offered in a low squeak, her body becoming restless. She didn’t want to be there any longer, she just wanted to get up. To go. She hated feeling so hopeless like this. She’d worked so hard to get over this feeling, but now here she was, at the mercy of — come to think of it, she didn’t know his name either. “I work at an art gallery.” Celeste started, one hand moving up to her throat as the tightening sensation continued. “Well, I own it.” she added. He already seemed to know she came from money. Most of the time she tried to avoid that subject. She’d run into people who were far too eager to know her for all the wrong reasons when they found that out.

“Its plenty of reason to growl. Is a person is so rude as to bump into me and not apologize then they need to see a form of punishment for being an ass” he shrugged then he nodded “Of course I would apologize. Cuz its the right thing to do”
Celeste fought back a soft smile. “I doubt a growl will make them change their ways though.” She pointed out, her smile winning. “But if you want to, I really can’t stop you, now can I?” a light laugh parted her lips. “Are you ready to go?”

Marcie laughed, imagining him in a crown. “You would look great in a crown. All the jewels to bring out those blue eyes of yours,”she teased. A small graced her lips as he messed with her, having missed their banter over the past few years. “I am actually starving. I couldn’t eat on the plane since I was sitting next to a guy who doesn’t believe in deodorant and a small child that had a dripping nose the whole time,”she admitted, shaking her head to get rid of the memory.
“You don’t have to tell me!” Alexander announced smugly, his usual lopsided grin claiming his face.
“Well, If Celeste was here, she’d have made you dinner, but she’s out of town for an art show.” Alexander sighed and clicked his tongue softly. He wrinkled his nose at her description. The one way he allowed himself to be spoiled was with his family’s private plane. Otherwise he worked for himself. Both DuMont children had be raised learning the value of a dollar. “We’ll have to go out, you know how Stella gets when people touch her kitchen.” he laughed. “What do you feel like eatin’?”

“Cel, you know I had stupid selfies..”Max told the blonde with a sigh as she held her phone up. “Only for you,”he muttered as he stood behind her, giving the phone a small smirk.
“Quit complaining, Max.” Celeste grinned, swatting gently at his side. “This is the first time we’ve seen each other since the fifth grade.” She reminded him. “I mean, I suppose I could always share the last picture I have of us...Halloween...you made a cute Dalmatian to my Cruela DeVille.” Celeste teased.

Marcie laughed as she hugged her friend. She rolled her eyes as he mentioned calling the cops. “You are such a drama queen…It took forever to find my luggage when I got off the plane,”she explained as she looked up at him. “Almost three, yeah, but I had to come home to see my friends now that I’m finally done with school!”
Alexander snorted at her response. “At least I get to wear a crown.” He noted with a gentle click of his tongue, his usual grin gracing his lips as he spoke. “Makes me feel all warm an fuzzy inside,” he jested when she said she’d come back for her friends. He reached out, musing her hair slightly. “So, you hungry, or have you had your fill on those tasty half baked spaghetti meals from the plane?” he asked.

He’d been joking, too… just not very well. Pretty-girl-scowling-at-him was anathema, but he couldn’t exactly just leave, and trying to explain his babble would only make things worse. (The conversation was a good distraction, anyway.) He grinned a moment, trying to project an image of good humour. “Really, huh? Seems to me, girls like you ’re tough to catch.”
It was probably both, he figured. Suffice to say, if he saw her on the street, he didn’t think he’d assume she was poor. “You right with the pain?” he asked, more quietly. His hands kept pressing - he wanted to make certain.
“Hard to catch?” Celeste couldn’t help but echo the remark. She wasn’t entirely sure (if at all) what he had meant by it. She’d only honestly been involved with one person, and he’d been the one to give her the scar. Since then — a short laugh parted her lips as she thought about it. Maybe she wasn’t that easy to catch. Then again, being attacked was a different sort of situation. As she realized her sudden reaction, pink tinged her cheeks and she cleared her throat, head turning away.
Celeste turned her attention towards his question. Inhaling deeply, she held her breath momentarily. With the fresh wounds there was a dull throbbing, which she knew would only grow with time. Any sort of ache would magnify itself before it got better, and trying to do anything during that time wouldn’t end up well. “I’m fine.” she said, her voice thin. It wasn’t a lie, but it felt like it to her.

The more he thought he knew women, he actually knew less, that was the whole truth. Who would ever be able to figure them out? “Fine, you don’t need to let me in,” he raised his hands up as in a defeat, but chose to ignore her question. They both knew and that didn’t need to voiced aloud. “Can we just talk? That’s all I want to do, talk.”
Careful fingers threaded through the ends of her curls, wrapping them around her knuckles as she listened to his muffled voice. “About?” she prodded carefully, the broken note in her voice giving away her uncertainty.

Noah shook his head to himself not knowing whether to laugh at her reaction or stare dumbly at her door. What the hell was she doing? Opening the door and now acting as if she’s not at home? Women. “Celeste, I just saw you,” he finally said as he knocked once more. “Come on, open your door.”
Behind the door, her lower lip pushed forward in a pout. “Why should I?” she asked, now turning to face it. One hand rested on the wood of the door the other on the cool metal of the doorknob. Against better judgement she pulled it open just far enough to peer out at him. “There, I’ve opened it. Just don’t ask to come in, because I’m not letting you, after all, it’s been how long since you’ve wanted to be here?”

“It’s papercuts,” he deadpanned, and lifted up her shirt. (on another day, that might be fun - today, he just realised that she was still bleeding.) “Well, it could be this too, but only if there’s no one like me around. Now, that kind of treatment’ll give you scars.” The steps were simple enough - get the cloth, fold up the cloth, press it on the wound. That was good, since his nerves were sticking.
He hadn’t noticed the scar - he was far more concerned with her bleeding. His gaze flicked to it then, though, and he grimaced a moment at his own words. Better keep talking. “This guy.” He referred, of course, to the right-now criminal, the guy who gave her this. “Do you know him, or was it just since you’ve got money?“
She’d been kidding, her nose wrinkled at his flat response as she decided that he was one of the serious ones. He’d likely take everything at face value. The babbling had been more of a distraction for herself more than anything else. His remark was punctuated by his pulling up her shirt, Celeste was unable to help the hiss from between her clenched teeth as the action pulled the shirt away from the wounds where it had been buried in them with the blade.
“Well, I can’t really answer for him.” Celeste pointed out. “It could have just as easily of been because a petite, clumsy, girl, looks like an easy target.” she sighed. “Though to answer your first question, no, I didn’t know him. At least not that I know of.”
