Ugh no lie, running that ask blog healed some part of me. I had so much fun making it and interacting with everyone. That blog brought in so much unexpected kindness, I still think about it sometimes and get a little weepy. Mm. What a time. That being said, it isn't an ask-blog per se, but coming this late February/early March I'm going to start posting an original comic I've been working on here.

Right now the blog is just character doodles I didn't want to lose track of, but I'm really excited about getting my pages on there come spring. The comic is like.... the care worn, morally complex, world weary first cousin of ask-teacher-francis. And one of the main protagonists is very obviously based off of Francis, so there's a win there.

Hey, internet stranger about to get a little personal in your inbox here. Be forewarned I guess?

I've been a fan of your art and comics for years! Truly am such a sucker for the teacher!France au. But the one I always think about is where America and Russia are at the top of a ski slope and America confesses he wants freedom more than he wants to love someone. It's just a sentiment I really relate to, and lately especially with my friends getting married or otherwise coupled, I start thinking again if I should too, but I just don't want the ties that come with a relationship because even good ties keep you in place. So the fact that someone out there understands that and made a little comic about it that ends with the reassurance that having and acknowledging such feelings does not make you a bad person, but brave, well, it's just nice. I'm not so alone and hetalia America feels the same haha.

Anyway I hope you're having a great 2026 so far!

And what is anon for if not to get a little too personal? I’m so glad my comic resonated with you; it’s still one of the most honest things I’ve made to this day. AND I SEE YOOOOOU, ANON. I HAVE FELT THIS, I HAVE TREAD THESE PATHS. I know these waters. I always worried I was missing something very important because I was never really concerned about being in a relationship, so I’d muddle into things I had no business muddling in and putting on performances I had no business putting on. Aaaaand all that got me was nowhere I wanted to be. And all the people I was trying to get approval from through my muddling and performing gave me a thumbs up and then went on with their lives. And left me with a life I’d built that I didn’t even really want for myself!! Don’t get me started on the collateral I racked up. The whole time I thought I was bad because I couldn’t feel the right feelings, but the actual problem was that I couldn’t be honest with myself about what I wanted. Mm.

All this to say is you sound much more self aware and know yourself enough to know how you want to spend your one precious life. I deeply admire that and think a life lived with authenticity is indeed brave, and perhaps one of the most kindest and worthwhile ways to go about a life. Have a gentle 2026, anon ( ˶˘ ³˘)♡

Hi!! i just discovered your account and all your beautiful art and i felt in love with it, how, HOW do you make comics that feel so close, so alive? And your artstyle looks so simple but so charming, i would like to know how is your creative process and how you get inspirated to do such wonderful work

First off, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR KINDS WORDS; I’m so glad you like my work and I am so flattered.

With my comics, they feel that way because they are emotionally honest due to my excruciating and inescapable earnestness. The earnestness doesn’t serve me well irl, but with the comics it does wonders LOL

For my creative process, I started taking myself SO seriously with my initial planning and I feel like it’s really been paying off, especially with this project. I write my script, make thumbnails, sketch, line work, color, and finish with inserting text bubbles and dialogue. Breaking the process into phases makes it less intimidating and helps me be more patient with myself/not give up.

For inspiration, I had thought this up for a music themed hetalia zine, but the comic was too long for the project ;u; I’d wanted to make something that got to the heart of what music/creative pursuits are all about which made me think of a story about Philip Guston (an American painter) who radically changed his art style from realism to a more cartoon-ish style after the atrocities of the Vietnam War. Guston said he’d initially considered giving up art altogether because it all seemed so pointless and absurd, but he felt ‘silence was betrayal’ and decided to capture the absurdity of evil in his paintings instead. I always think about that choice when I look at his paintings... Thank you for the thoughtful ask, anon!

Everything, Anon. I think everything about rusame. LOL, but real talk, I'm actually slowly piecing together an entire comic based on that one I made with them in the mountains that I'm hoping to release in like.... 2 years. I could write LITERATURE on canon rusame/amerus, but to keep this ask on the shorter side, for their relationship in the upcoming comic, they're two loners with peculiarities that sing to each other. Do they necessarily like each other? Naaaaah; but the crazy shit that one does makes perfect sense to the other one while every one else is standing around with their hands out like ? ? ? ? ? ? ? In the mountain comic, Ivan and Alfred operate by the same code, game recognizes game. And down below is a lil scrap from the comic so it looks like i still post art ⊹ ࣪ ˖

Yoooooo, I'm so glad you liked it! I wish I could take credit for the writing, but that was all @oumaheroes coming in HAWT with the aches and the feels You can read the actual fic Famous Last Words and have even more feels abuse. It was fun getting to focus solely on layout and the drawing aspect of the submission. And interesting to see how the medium changes the vibe of a work!
