Ozzy the dog travels around the Baltic Sea

Whilst in Vilnius they headed for a local eatery with a name that translates as Snow Cutie, where they tucked into local delicacies such as cold beetroot soup, zeppelins and deep fried bread strips with a ton of garlic. Personally I think they should have tried the strips of fried pigs ear- looked great to me!

Having arrived in Lithuania instead of letting me chase all the cranes, storks, deer and robot lawn mowers they shoved me on a couple of leads and headed into Vilnius, a day ahead of the national pink soup day (to be avoided at all costs with me apparently) and dragged me round the sights.

We set off across the border to Lithuania on Sunday May 24th, with both the landscape and housing changing quite as bit. Flatter, gentler landscape, all very green and serene, with plenty of dog digging opportunities en route.

They left me on my own today so they could go and fill their faces on good Polish fare.

We have now found ourselves here in the Polish Lake District which is perfect for me as there are loads of lakes to swim in and deer to chase. They don’t really like me doing that though. They’re also not keen on all the ticks I’ve found either.

Round here there is a legend about a mystical creature that steals the hearts from the recently dead. New graves were often found desecrated shortly after the burial and so the legend of the Masurian ‘whyspa’ was born.

Today on our journeys my parents decided it would be a grand idea to show me the cultural side of Gdansk. A massive city on the Baltic coast.

The city was 90% destroyed in WWII and has been painstakingly rebuilt in its original Dutch style, including the famous Gdansk crane.

We crossed into Poland on May 22nd and headed right along the Baltic to a seaside resort about an Hour NW of Gdansk called Karvieńskie Bloto Drugie.

This place was set back from the coast by about a kilometre and there was another opportunity for me to swim in the sea and collect up the sticks that the humans kept carelessly throwing in there.

After leaving the UK on May 20th we drove through the tunnel and then up through Belgium, Holland and Germany to a town called Koserow on the Baltic coast near to the Polish border. After a two day drive I was keen to frolic in the sand and dip my paws into a very un-salty sea.

Koserow's pier (Seebrücke) on the Baltic island of Usedom has evolved from a simple 1900s fishing structure into a striking 279-meter architectural landmark.The history of the Koserow pier spans three distinct eras:The Original Pier (Early 1900s – WWII): As Koserow transitioned from a poor fishing village into a seaside resort, the first pier was built to accommodate tourists and arriving ships. It was destroyed during a severe icy winter storm in World War II.The Second Pier (1993 – 2020): Following German reunification, the community rebuilt the pier in 1993 to restore its coastal resort charm. It served for nearly three decades before being demolished due to irreparable storm and structural damage.The New Wave Pier (2021 – Present): Built between November 2019 and August 2021, the current pier extends 279 meters into the Baltic Sea.
