Back to some basics, back to some stretching.
And so is Bunny.
Did chores, had an ok time with much of it. But there are points where you just need… floor time, ya know?
I am, in fact, very tired of the news.
I am sure we all are. This timeline has many problems.
But this is one glimmer of good. Bless.
24Hour comic - January
I decided in late 2024 that I wanted to make more comics. I really enjoy doing the 24Hour comic day on social media. So I decided to combine these goals.
A personal 24Hour comic. I decided on documenting events around the middle of the month.
These are being posted first on Patreon
((Found this in the drafts, so cleaning them out))
Sketch commissions - Late April/early May completion
The world is weird. I feel odd soliciting commissions while the world is -waves general hands at The State of Things-
But bills are still due. I am taking graphite and watercolor sketch commissions for late April/early May completion to help bridge the gap in hunting for larger projects, conventions and more conventional work.
Graphite sketches start at $45, is done at 5.5”x8.5”
Watercolor sketches start at $60, also done at 5.5”x8.5”
A hi-res scan is included. Originals can be shipped domestically or picked up at in person events. (I can figure out international shipping on a case by case basis)

Different perspectives from different places can offer insight a local connection could not.
New character unlocked?
The weather is doing limbo stuff and I am itching to do some yard work.
It is green now.
Dreaming: Cycles
I had high hopes and was fully of dreams about attending RISD; perusing illustration and becoming another artist with a BFA by 2018/2019.
remember working on this image, curled up with my cats and an elevated knee (lift gate at work broke.)
I had high hopes and was fully of dreams about attending RISD; perusing illustration and becoming another artist with a BFA by 2018/2019.
I did not get into RISD. I kept working away at my community college. I now stack my two associate degrees in a trench coat. My baby sibling got into a good 4 year school. So, I tossed my coins hard into furry art and conventions to help raise their tuition. My mother was hip deep in a nasty, prolonged divorce related issues due to my sperm doner choosing to (financially) starve us vs pay his part of our tuitions and higher education costs. (She never did get paid back.)
I am now in my mid 30s, revisiting this piece which I only have iPhone 4S photos of because we had to mail in the originals as part of the application. I remember being laid up because the lift gate at work failed under me, a coworker, and a flat of dishes. I was given a week to be off my very swollen and colorful knee, so curled up to work on this application piece.
The original was done with a loving cat curled up under the drawing board, many pens, and poor posture.
The rework was done on an iPad, curled up with slightly better poster (took breaks to stretch) and the ability to erase and redo some bits. I did rework elements of this piece a little bit. Tweaked the aspect ratio, added some filler bits… swapped some parts around. But it lives again. One of the largest Dreaming style pieces I have ever done. (All in pen at the time.) I think it is still the largest piece (file was so big I only got 10 layers to work with).
I spent time reflecting about the life cycles most animals go through. Birth, growth, life, death, reentry to the soil. Only one thing is promised once you are born, that someday you will die. The rest is up to instinct, chance, and (for some animals <hard eyes humans as a whole>) choice.
The Dreaming series has always been meditative for me. I can see where I can just let my mind loosen a little bit. Almost like on autopilot, I can know how I want the piece to work and twist, and nudge it the right ways to do so.
I also reflected on the Dreaming series as a whole body of work. I have done several animals, both common and unique. I rarely revisit an animal once I have rendered it. I did a Wolf; have not done a second. I rendered one frog; never came back for another variant. Did a kangaroo, haven’t done another. Horses are an exception; I think I have rendered them 3 or 4 times. Dragons are another, people like them.
Cycles has two requested animals: Fox and Owl. Each deserve a solo image. They will get one. But for now they live again, along with many, many rabbits.
This work was posted to Patreon / Ko-fi first before the wider internet. If you would like to help support the creation of works like this one, please take a look there.
We can’t all be mad… we can’t.
This sounds so much like my childhood. I remember walking out of my bedroom at night and telling my parents in the dinning room “We are at war.”
Gorge W Bush had announced it, and it was reported by the rock channel DJ.
The news right now sounds very similar. I am catapulted back to being 14 and aware the world I thought I knew was madder than I expected.
I just keep being shown, the world is madder than I expected.
Parts of this script feel like a repeating nightmare.
I did not realize how nice the quiet was of not being in a military action in the Middle East was.
I did not realize how loud that roar was as background noise.
(I know the Latin from The Handmaid’s Tale is not like, correct. But read your banned books)
Patterns I (Starfox VI)
Still plucking away at these little creatures. This one is on loose canvas, and full of shifting patterns.
This is maybe the closest I have come to how I see them in the wild… more in the shifting nature in person than the shapes. And the shapes are good too.
I am taking this little fellow with me to the EuroFurence art show in about a week!
The Runner
More colorful rabbits; to complete the trinity of long ears.
The green halo was inspired by the first rabbit, and the pinks pulled in around the descending paw are pulled from The End rabbit. Nice little balance between.
I know I am not the first, or last, artist who will pull inspiration from Watership Down by Richard Adams. I have been in a rabbit phase since college, and I do not see it ending anytime soon.
We are kicking into a new lunar year (always exciting)
I, like many kids of the ‘90s, grew up going to Chinese buffets with those fun placemats showing the 12 zodiac animals and their associated years.
In my youth I was always a wee bit salty about being more in the year of the Snake. If my parents had pushed off things a little bit I could have been born in the year of the Horse. (How cool would that be? My zodiac would be one of my fav animals and SO COOL) ((I have since grown up and come to love the Snake as much))
I have still bought things with the horse on them when offered among the Chinese zodiac offerings. Because horses are still rad as hell. I was happy to visit the Horse during my 2020 Eastern Zodiac project, and I am excited to visit the Horse again for 2026.
Last year was finishing some cycles for me. Crossed some items off the bucket list from my teens (Mongolia was SO rad)) <Yes I am still working on a write up of that adventure for you all. Editing text is always such a time>
(
So here we are, moving into the year of the Fire Horse with renewed vim, vigor, and the energy of a mare in the shoot.
I did have this image sketched before leaving for FC, travel delays due to weather and the cold when I got home have lead to miserable dry times. I used to almost exclusively draw horses or equine creatures (see: Dräl) but over the years I render them with less frequency. It felt really good to give my inner child some art they would have loved.
We about to be buckin’ 🔥🐎🔥
New work going live on Patreon/Kofi this week
In the mean time, enjoy the horse I did during my 2020 Eastern Zodiac animals
Each one had a corresponding element, horse just happed to be fire
The world is very scary right now. We are watching horrible things on electric rocks.
There were not video cameras in the camps last time. There are cameras now.
Woke up to a true snow day. So I am enjoying it.
Revisiting some older text with a newer purpose.
I was accepted into a show of miniature work and decided to draw and send a pair of Positivity Bunnies in some tiny tiny frames I have. (I think I bought them to try and continue the No Foxes, but they are just a little too small for that.)
I will share details about the show later this week!
