Title: An Army of Children Summary: Just a little sneak peek at life in the Puckerman residence, where cartoons and children are involved. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARIAHHHHHH
Laughter fills the air as their two children giggle, and Rachel huffs in annoyance. She’s getting too big for this; her belly is really starting to show. She blames Omri for the big, wriggling child that is still growing inside her.
Rachel stares as they all turn back to the TV, completely consumed in an episode of... Quite frankly, Rachel has no idea what they’re watching and she’s not interested in knowing. It’s not until Omri spots her, lingering in the door frame, that he comes over and pulls her into a hug.
“Come watch,” he lures her away with a chaste kiss, smiling as he manages to manoeuvre the kids to the corner of the couch so Rachel has enough space.
It’s still fairly cramped, as it always is in their tiny apartment, but it’s homey and cosy and they all love it.
Ava cuddles against Rachel’s side whilst Noah leans his arm against the arm of the sofa, his hands tangled deep in the mini-mohawk he’s sporting. He’s about as mischievous as his late uncle and Rachel smiles, and then tells him to stop putting his feet on the table too, a habit he learnt from his father.
His sister giggles and they start arguing, causing Rachel to just press herself against Omri a little tighter and sigh. He laughs, kisses the top of her head and focuses back on the TV.
Rachel learns that they’re all watching Spongebob Squarepants and finds it fairly entertaining; she blames her husband for her sudden decline in taste.
After their fifth consecutive episode, Rachel tries to pull herself up and get away from the living room, disappointed in herself that she spent so much time watching a silly television show. Luckily, Ava happens to like her musicals, which gives her all the more reason to watch them, but seeing as Omri has full control of the remote now, she’s avoiding the TV at all costs.
“I think it’s time for me to start dinner,” she announces and is met with a series of groans from the 3 Puckermans.
She hears Noah say something about Spongebob being more important than food and she rolls her eyes, Ava giggles again and Omri just chuckles.
“I blame you for this, you know,” she leans down and glares at him.
“No you don’t,” he grins and kisses her again, planting a wide hand on her stomach before getting up and following her into the kitchen, leaving the kids watching the next cartoon again.
They kiss again once they’re in the safety of the hallway, just so they’re not met with the usual ewwing noises their children like to make. Rachel takes his hand and lets him lead her to the fridge, his giant steps causing her to waddle even more than usual.
“They’re more like you every day, you know,” she points out as she’s cutting vegetables and sighs. She always hoped she’d have someone to follow in her Broadway footsteps but Noah and Ava are exactly like their father and she’s a bit worried that no-one will live up to her legacy; though, she appreciates her children having different aspirations, Like Noah who seems to want to be a brain surgeon because he thinks “brains are funny looking.”
“And I bet that little girl’s just like you. Maybe we should call her Rachel jr.”
He’s met with a firm no.
“I mean, Rach, we’re gonna have a mini-Rachel one day or die in the attempt,” he winks and Rachel’s taken aback by his joke, though she caves and laughs eventually.
She finds more ways to love him each and every day.
“How many children are we planning on having then, Mr. Puckerman?”
“As many as we can have, but I’ll settle for 5, Mrs. Puckerman,” he nuzzles her neck from behind and Rachel drops what she’s doing and turns around to kiss him.
Nodding, Rachel smiles and tells him, “Okay, 5. Just as long as there’s no more feet marks on the tables or towels left on the bathroom floor.”
“Deal.”
They seal it with a kiss, then the couple both go back to cooking, the Spongebob theme song becoming the soundtrack of the evening. Rachel doesn’t mind it so much because they all know they’re going to be watching Funny Girl later tonight.
