Iâve seen some pretty messed up stuff in anime. Iâve seen
A girlâs own robot legs force her to walk off a cliff. (1)
A man essentially kill his dog and his daughter by fusing them together to make a quick buck (though, honestly, this one wasnât that bad and the fandom needs to get over it). (2)
A man perform an autopsy on his wife while she was still alive, screaming in pain the whole time as he slowly took her apart, piece by piece. (3)
A horde of civilians be reduced to nothing but piles of blood and guts by the police force. (4)
Someone dying over, and over, and over again as someone close to them tries desperately, but futilely, to save them. (5)
The nicest god damn person in the show commit mass genocide. (6)
The mass-rape of countless women at an underground sex club created for the sole purpose of satisfying the repressed sexual deviancy of the economic and political elite. (7)
Child soldiers forced to kill countless people and their families, kidnapping other children and forcing them into servitude. The women (even those aged only 10) get essentially turned into breeding machines to create more soldiers, continually raped by the men in the army. (8)
A girl get brought back from rock-bottom, just to be crushed by the one she most trusts and admires. (9)
A man drive a six year-old kid to attempt suicide. (10)

A woman almost kill herself because she would rather die than be raped by a gross, fat otaku guy (though I donât blame her). (13)
But the only thing that has, honestly, ever REALLY messed me up was the abusive relationship between the Yomi and Kagari in Black Rock Shooter. I donât know why, because itâs definitely not the most messed up thing on the list, but something about Yomiâs undeserved devotion to an obviously psychologically unstable Kagari, who goes so far as carve a heart shaped scar onto Yomiâs chest using a crochet needle, affected me, I suppose. I donât know quite what it was about that show, but Kagariâs whole character (before she changes when Chariot loses in the alternate world) messed me up. I think about it sometimes and I donât think anything else Iâve seen quite compares to how much that affected me.
