Question: Do you enjoy God?
My answer: It’s difficult to enjoy God right now for me. John Calvin describes our heart as “factory of idols.” We are prone by our inclination to leave God and desire after our self-glorifying pride, our covetous desires, our temporal longings.
Pride. Desires. Longings
I enjoy God when I am learning more about who he is, how much he loves me, and his personal desire and longing of intimate relationship with me.

Preparing for Colossians
Our Home Groups will go through the book of Colossians in the coming weeks. As I read through the passage, I could feel Paul’s love for a church he’s NEVER attended. Colossians is one of my favorite books of the Bible. Studying in depth like this has taught me more about Paul’s heart and urgency for the Gospel to be spread.
Colossians 1:28-29
“Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.”
Colossians 4:5-6
“Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”
Why is this happening to my fellowship?
I’ve often found myself asking this question many times. Will our fellowship ever be not-broken? Can complete healing come to be? Why are there so many problems? Why am I suffering? Why me?
Brokenness.
It’s easy to find, so hard to mend.
As I pondered through these questions throughout the last two years, I stumbled upon this song while youtube was playing through one of my mixes. The song hit me like a hard brick. At the same time, it gave me such a comforting thought.
The answer to all of those questions above, my friends, I’ve found through Sam Ock’s song “Rollercoaster.”
He is a masterful lyricist and he eloquently expressed a fellowship in pain through his rap.

I hope you find encouragement through this song as well. Peace.

Heart Check
Isaiah 46:8-13 English Standard Version (ESV)
8 “Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, 9 remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, 10 declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’ 11 calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it.
12 “Listen to me, you stubborn of heart, you who are far from righteousness: 13 I bring near my righteousness; it is not far off, and my salvation will not delay; I will put salvation in Zion, for Israel my glory.”
New City Catechism #12
What does God require in the ninth and tenth commandments?
Ninth, that we do not lie or deceive, but speak the truth in love. Tenth, that we are content, not envying anyone or resenting what God has given them or us.
Covetousness has to do with the inward grasp of the heart. It breaks the line of desires; it breaks the line that “God didn’t give enough.” This commandment calls for bridling and controlling our desires and being content & not desiring this outside. When crossing the line, we think to ourselves “I need that in order to be content.” We become resentful of gifts God gave us.
“Gosh, if I just had that...” is a red flag. The 1st and 10th commandments tie together: We resent what we don’t have, we want something else, we have idols in our heart.
