Why Bianca Belair’s Marching Band Entrance was Not Only Cool, but Important

Corey Graves “what the hell is this” outburst during Bianca’s entrance bothered me and a lot of (black) fans last night so let me do a little educating & explain why.

The marching band that performed Bianca’s entrance last night was from Texas Southern University. It is one of the largest Historically Black Colleges/Universities (HBCU) in the country. Megan Thee Stallion recently graduated from there.

Marching band is a huge part of HBCU culture and therefore a huge part of Black culture that dates all the way back to the 1940’s.

If you know anything about Bianca, you should know that representing Black culture is and has always been significant to her as a wrestler. That’s a huge part of why she is so beloved by Black fans and Black wrestlers alike. She took something that is an art form in the Black community and put it on a platform as huge as Wrestlemania.

Regardless of Corey’s outburst I think this moment should be celebrated and go down and history as one of the coolest and historically BLACK Wrestlemania entrances of all time.

*note* forgot to add: watch Beyoncé’s Homecoming Documentary/Concert if you wanna learn more. It’s a phenomenal concert but also gives an important perspective on HBCU culture & its significance to the Black community.
