A number of people have mentioned the swords and scabbards, and postulated what would happen to the body part(s) in close proximity to the exposed blade. Thanks to @marbienl13 and @castillon02 for inspiring for the following, and kudos to @stopmakingthosedecisions for identifying the sword!

What is a fest?
A fest is an event where people submit prompts related to a certain theme and/or claim which prompt they’d like to write about or draw. At the end, all the writing and art is revealed on AO3.
What’s the theme?
Trans characters in Dragon Age — anything about them.
Do nonbinary/genderqueer characters count as trans?
Of course! That’s who the white stripe on the trans flag is for, y’know. This event is for all non-cis characters and creators.
I’m cis. Can I participate?
Sure, as long as you’re respectful and have done your research.
How do I participate?
Fill out the interest form if you’d like to be notified via email when prompt submissions and claims open, and/or join the Discord if you’d rather be pinged there. (You’re not required to do both, but you do have to pick one of those options.)
Make sure you have an AO3 account, because that is where works will be posted.
Submit prompts via a form that will be shared on February 1st.
Claim a prompt via a form that will be shared on February 16th. Prompts are claimed on a first-come, first-serve basis. You will receive an email or Discord DM confirming which prompt you have claimed.
You create something based on your prompt.
Post your work to AO3, and make sure that you post it to the Trans Thedas Fest 26 collection.
What do I need to write for a prompt?
You can be as vague as “something about [character name],” or as elaborate as you like. But try to be detailed enough to give writers/artists something to work with.
What characters can I write/draw/write prompts about?
Any of them, as long as the focus of the work is on a trans character—one of the canonically trans characters (such as Taash, Maevaris, Krem, etc.), a trans OC, or a canon character that you headcanon as trans.
(However, please consider creating something for one of the canonically trans characters first, especially Taash. There were no works about them last year, which is really a shame, because Veilguard having the first nonbinary companion was a big part of what inspired the mod to create this fest!)
What are the requirements for what I create?
Fic: at least 500 words (no maximum word count)
Art: completed line art
Use of generative AI is not allowed.
Fanfic should be standalone, not part of a series.
Make sure it’s rated and tagged appropriately.
Please wait to post your pieces on social media until after they have been revealed on AO3.
Where is the 2026 AO3 collection?

Where is last year’s AO3 collection?

Who are you?
I’m JJ (they/them). My main blog is @lordlaidir and my AO3 is undeadpirate.
I have other questions! How do I get in touch?
You can send an email to [email protected], DM the mod here on tumblr, or send an ask. If you join the Discord server, you can also ask in the #questions channel.
