See, I'm in love with how your soul is a mix of chaos and art. And how you never try to keep them apart.

Until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.

My ideal neighborhood
Just over 20 years ago, I met a tiny, curly-haired girl in my ballet class and we decided to become best friends. Little did I know that leaps across the floor supervised by our dance teacher would turn into leaps into the lake countless times each summer, leaps into new places as we pursued an education & followed our dreams, and leaps into adulthood, which both led us to Chicago, the second city that we've called home together. A happiest of birthdays to the curly-haired little girl I met in that dance class, the refined woman in this photo, and all the versions of my best friend that I've gotten to know in between. Love you to the ends of this earth, Han. 💕 (at Chicago, Illinois)

Feeling rooted. 🌱 (at Nairobi, Kenya)
This is a refugee camp. While humanitarian aid is provided, most of these people hustle everyday in an informal economy to meet basic needs for their families & little ones. After arriving, sometimes from three-month treks across the desert, they can appear to bounce back quickly. It's so important to remember that while we are resilient creatures, trauma buries itself deep into our bodies. External and internal healing are not always parallel. I am so proud to be part of an organization that believes in the holistic health of those forced into vulnerability, and grateful to be a small part of a project that aims to empower refugees here with the means to become economically self-reliant. There is no price tag for dignity. (at Kakuma Refugee Camp, Northwest Kenya)
