Why do I only ever see dead black and brown bodies? Why are we dehumanizing these people like this? Why? I have never seen the dead body of a murdered white person in my life. But the burnt/sick/shot-up/stabbed/exploded bodies of Kenyans, Liberians, Palestinians, Iraqis and Somalis are seemingly ALWAYS present. Let these innocent people rest in peace and stop spreading pictures of their lifeless bodies all over the internet.
Isn’t one of the legacies of the Holocaust an awful quantity of pictures of dead jews? Have you never seen pictures of white victims of murder?
It isn’t a matter of skin colour. In my opinion, it isn’t even a matter of dehumanization as much of a matter of morbid curiosity. Some people fancy seeing dead people. Some other might believe that in order to understand the magnitude of a situation one has to witness it. At least, through a photography.
As much as I love The Flash, our fandom is becoming a bit ridiculous. We shouldn’t be making any of the cast members feel uncomfortable or attacked on any form of social media.
“Becoming ridiculous”…. yeah, it’s been ridiculous since Candice and Jesse’s casting announcement in February of last year.
Unlike some people, Candice actually gets attacked personally on Instagram and Twitter, (as well as every single Facebook post featuring her and/or Iris West on The Flash’s official page) and yet she handles it with grace and keeps doing her. The fact that she remains on the social media platforms, despite ALL the racial slurs, misogynistic language, and general disregard and negativity directed towards her makes anyone else’s “drama” pale in comparison. Just a bit of perspective, especially when that ONE tweet (and the subsequent tweets didn’t warrant him basically sicking all of his 700K followers on to one person).
But whatever…. let’s not make celebrities uncomfortable on Twitter.
Ariana Miyamoto was crowned Miss Japan 2015 this past March
At 20 years old, not only is Ariana Japan’s first and only half Japanese contestant to claim the title, beating out her more “Japanese looking” peers, but Miyamoto will also go on to represent Japan at the Miss Universe pageant later this year.
The sign reads “I am me.”
Ariana was born to an African American father and a Japanese mother, and spent most of her life growing up in the port city of Nagasaki. She speaks fluent Japanese and English.
In the articles that I’ve read about her she mentions how she was always verbally abused by other kids because of her race. Being half black she was the target for racial slurs and other mistreatment by her own peers. But to her she is 100% Japanese, and having the opportunity to represent her country is something that she is glad to have.
This man’s rants about racism are so unexpected and so brutally honest, they’ve sparked a movement and it’s growing fast.
Dixon D. White, who describes himself as “a simple southern guy, who was raised in a small country town in the south,” posted a video rant on YouTube, which he titled ‘I’m a redneck and I love America.’ It’s not the video’s title that gained the attention of the internet, however; it’s the subject of White’s rant – racism.
If you were to judge the video just from the title, you’d probably never watch it. When we think of America-loving rednecks, we’ve seen enough videos from confederate flag waving, NRA supporting, card carrying KKK members, who upload YouTube videos complaining about how poor white people, like themselves, are the real victims in racist America. But don’t judge White’s video by the title alone.
The content is hard-hitting, and surprisingly honest. So honest, that it may even make you cry.
After his first video rant got over 300,000 views, White uploaded two more videos to his YouTube account, W Honky.
In his second video, he sums up the underlying motivation for racism, white fear and greed.
He starts off by saying, “I’m here to talk about fear. Pride. Arrogance. Narcissism.” He asks the difficult question, “What is it that stops so many white people from wanting to change our hearts in regards to race?” Then he goes to answer that question, saying part of it is fear and part of it is greed. He says it’s greed because:
“We don’t want to lose power, we don’t want to lose dominance, we don’t want to lose privileges. We don’t want to lose benefits that the system of white supremacy has created here in America for white people.”
White goes on to talk about the fear factor.
“We’re scared. We’re scared of black vengeance. We’re scared of black retribution. We’re scared shitless, and we always have been, since day one, when we put our hands on black people. Grabbed ‘em, snatched ‘em up, put ‘em on a boat, made ‘em our own fricking personal slaves…”
He talks about how white fear and white greed is the driving force in our white supremacist society, before finally calling on white people to “Face your fear. Face your greed, so that we can have a more peaceful country.”
His second video is even more brutally honest than the first.
In his third video, uploaded to W Honky’s youtube account on April 6th, White issued a challenge to white people. He talks about the response from black people, who contacted him after his first video “with tears in their eyes, because they had never heard a white person speak like that.” He goes on to say that the black community has been deprived of the truth. He called on white viewers to talk honestly and openly about race, saying ‘get your cell phone’ and ‘point it at your face’.
The video responses to this challenge are flooding in. The level of honesty from the people in these videos is both touching and startling.
For example, there’s this video from a 20-year-old resident of Tennessee. In the comments section, Keisha writes:
Sorry it got cut short guys ♡ may make another video tomorrow. I’ve been catching hell all day about the racism discussion from family and friends just an FYI…. we have plenty of hate and bullshit in the world…. and it’s time we clean up this mess and realize that it happened because we let it happen. Nothing has really changed, nobody has opened their mouth because we have been spoon fed the benefits of our corrupt media, our corrupt government, our white washed nation.
Here’s another video that was shared to youtube by Cathy Thompson-England in response to the challenge.
These two videos are just a small sampling of the commentary coming in. New videos are being added to White’s Facebook page every few minutes. They’re coming in from all across the country, from places as diverse as Texas and Connecticut.
Anyone willing to make a video in response to the challenge can upload their own video to Facebook. Many people are using the hashtags #truth #racialhealing and #Dixonchallenge.
I’m sure that due at least in part to the overwhelming amount of support he’s gotten, White has started a public Facebook page as well as a Facebook group called The Video Racial Healing Challenge. There’s also a web page, where all of the video responses are being gathered. Most of the videos are still being posted to his personal profile page, however, due to the nature of Facebook tagging.
I have seen a lot of comments on my post and in my inbox about that National Geographic article and confusion about how Black people dating and having kids with White people don’t effect the Black race..
There are a few of you who actually believe that if a dark skin woman has a child with a White man, the child will still be dark. Tragic.
Let’s use real people.

Of course we know that Tia and Tamera are light skin even though their mother is dark (People really couldn’t grasp this concept)
Now, here’s the fun part. Let’s say I marry a White man and we have a child. The child is biracial. If my biracial child goes and marry a White person, 9 times out of 10, their child will look 100% Caucasian.
Just as Tamera’s child does.
He is absolutely gorgeous. However, I would never know that he had a Black grandmother.
That National Geographic article is referring to these situations. Also, for people who don’t understand how interracial dating affects Black genetics and features.
While Tia is biracial and had a child with a Black man, her son has more ethnic features.
Long story short, interracial relationships that lead to marrying White eventually erase Black features.
THIS IS WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT!!!! When people brag about wanting mixed kids with a White person and claim that kind of thinking has no effect on Black genes.
If your mixed child marries a White person, 9 times out of 10, your grandchild will look White. That’s all I was saying.
The comments on this proves a lot of y’all cannot comprehend basic biology and concepts.
This post is tragically ignorant of physiology, racioethnic identity construction, and anthropology, and I just can’t be bothered to correct your ignorance.
Perhaps pick up a book on the development of human physiology from birth until maturity.
Perhaps pick up a book on the diversity of the African diaspora, on the range of eye color, skin color, bone structure, etc that exists in Africa.
Perhaps pick up a book on how blackness works in the Diaspora given different cultural and social standards for mixing in different scenarios, such as how Mestizaje policy created this ease of racial mixing in Latin America that does not exist in the United States, as a small example
Ok Dr. Phil’s wife, Robin, (yes groan, but listen up) has this new app out (iPhone and Android) that’s for people in abusive relationships. It’s called Aspire News and it’s disguised as a regular news app, but when you go to the “Help” section of the app, it leads you to domestic violence resources and also has a “Go Button” that when you press it, if you’re in a compromising situation, alerts local authorities as well as local shelters and starts recording everything that is going on.
Now, if you’re looking up resources on the app and your abuser is near, simply press the X button and it brings you to a random news page. Same goes for the actual foundation site.
