Donna Tartt, The Secret History
"Why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself?" Oh haha okay, if you insist :)
I was born in the mud and darkness, long before the first trees. The stars had yet to open their eyes before I crawled from the dirt, starving and crying out. I come from a time far beyond the memory of humans, for what is humanity compared to such eternity? I am made of wolfsong, of fallen antlers and mycelium and the first winter snow. I have no name, and yet the animals know me as I pass by, bowing their heads towards my gaze.
