Saying goodbye forever to my best friend in person would mean everything to me. Unfortunately since I'm homebound it'll take a lot of resources, and others who would be able to financially help the situation have already done what they can.

The current conversion rate from Canadian says I need about $400 usd. Timing is up in the air but I should have at least until Wednesday, possibly longer (posting this early Sat 25th Jan '25).  If I don't end up seeing her, money would go towards expenses with my health, so this is definitely a goal that even if not specifically met, every single dollar would still be very helpful and very appreciated.

I'd also really love it if you'd like to share with me happy memories of your close friends. I'm trying to move forward in celebration of my friend's life and the happy things she and I have shared. Reblogs are helpful to donation posts of course but this isn't about that, I would welcome replies or asks too, and I'll try to respond when I become less preoccupied.

Apologies if this is considered too personal of a question, but are you planning to get a new passport in light of the executive order Trump is expected to sign not recognizing X on official documents? I currently have an X passport and I'm reading that it could legally be useless in terms of getting me back into the country if I leave.

Also, I'm gonna amend this and say that Executive Orders are not laws, nor are they commandments from a king. There are a few, very specific things which can be affected by executive orders, and those are the things already under the purview of the President (and his cabinet, presuming they do what he tells them to do). Since what gender markers are on a passport and the procedures for changing them are totally under the purview of the Secretary of State, an EO can affect those.

I am begging everyone to stop treating EOs like they are passed laws or judicial decisions. They're not. The entire point of this is to scare everyone and get them to comply in advance. This is 'Shock and Awe, Executive Order edition.' Will Congress comply? Maybe. Will the courts bow down to him? Maybe. But don't act like you assume that they will, don't obey in anticipation. Make plans to keep yourself safe if Congress does roll over and the courts do just suck up to him, yes, but don't comply in advance. Fascism expects you to do this.
