Veronica sat comfily in the library, reading. It was quiet, so she was in a pretty good mood. -officialveronicamcclain

James had made his way to the library for some peace and quiet of his own when he spotted Veronica. A grin spread across his face and he moved over to sit next to her. He plopped down on the couch as quietly as possible and leaned his head on her shoulder.

Veronica was suddenly startled by someone who had rested their head on her shoulder. “Hey-!” She looked at whoever it was to find James. “Oh, it’s you. You scared me!”

“Your shoulder looked comfortable.” He glanced at the top of the page she was on for a book title or chapter title. “Can’t blame me for being drawn to a comfy surface.”

She lightly kissed his forehead. “What are you reading?”

“Nothing right now. I just came for some quiet.” He closed his eyes. “Though, I suppose your voice is much better.”

She smiled. “You’re too sweet, Mr. Griffin.”

“Only for you, Miss McClain.”

She bookmarked her place and put the book down, resting her head on his.

“Don’t stop reading on my account,” James apologized. He took her newly freed hand in his own, though.

“It’s fine. I’ve been reading for a while now anyway. Now I have an excuse to take a break.” Ron buried her face in his soft hair.

“I love being an excuse.” He rubbed his thumb along the top of her hand. “Especially when it means I get your attention.”

“You’ll always have my attention.” She said, her voice muffled by his hair.

“Is this my life’s greatest accomplishment? Yes.”
