A kinda related note i hope you don’t mind me adding on: one of the most life-changing bits of story advice i ever received was actually in a class on “Revenge and Vengeance in the Ancient World,” if you can believe it. The professor was talking about how everyone in ancient Greece knew all the Greek myths back to front and told them over and over again - and someone asked why they would keep retelling the same stories if they already knew they ended.

She explained that basically it wasn’t the ending that was the most suspenseful or exciting part, but how you got there. This is why The Iliad spoils its own ending in the opening lines. This is why we have so many different retellings of Shakespeare, of Arthurian legends, of fairy tales. 

There are no truly original stories or truly unpredictable endings. So, IMO, it’s better to focus on how you as a writer/filmmaker/artist/whatever can bring something new to the body of the story rather than trying to shock and mislead your audience.

As soon as he heard a feminine scream shatter across the air, Deadpool knew someone was in trouble. “Aw shit, here we go again.” He sighed, running towards the source.

He saw a dark figure. It was small and obviously a woman. Some burly men were surrounding her, grinning with malicious intent.

“Girly, you can either come willingly and make it easy for yourself or give us a hard time and end up fucked. We don’t like to damage merchandise, but there’s no policy about having fun.” The big-man smirked, holding a large knife towards you.

Before you could respond, another voice rang out. “Now that’s no way to treat a pretty lady, now is it?”

‘Shit. Deadpool is here?’ You thought, slightly annoyed. Your plan was to lure in the men in order to stop a prostitution ring you’d heard about.

“Who the fuck, are you?” Another man snarled, yanking out a gun from his side.

“The name is Deadpool, sweetie. And I always come willingly.” He winked and sprang into action before you could do anything.

Gunshots flew and shots were fired into Deadpool. Much to the horror of the men. One came towards you, while Deadpool was busying fighting the others.

“Stupid little whore.” He growled, and you quickly disarmed him.

“Hey, don’t call me by your mothers name, now.” You quipped and ran towards him, as you did a few of your infamous moves. Once you had the man on the ground, with his hands twisted behind his back, Deadpool came up to you with a shocked look on his face.

“Don’t know if I’m more impressed by your killer fighting skills or that smart mouth.” He spoke, turning towards you.

“You should be by both. But first, we have some unfinished business with some really nice pimps.” You grinned up at him. “What do you say?”
