Keep On Truckin'

Recently, the corporation reduced their budget for the coming year by a significant percentage. The same sort of reduction was instituted for the current year, accomplished by repositioning responsibilities from contracted assets to their in-house assets.

With that particular strategy already exhausted, the next step was to reduce expenditures for in-house assets. Approximately 400 "assets" were actuarialized and determined to be the least necessary of the asset pool. To their disappointment, they were given 90 days notice.

The management script was right out of "Bull Durham".

"This is the toughest job a manager has… the organization has decided to make a change."

Anger was not expressed regarding this decision, but there was no small portion of disappointment. The (no longer) assets are informed that hiring will not stop, and in-house applications will be accepted just as at any other time. Those released, were provided a list of open positions. It is unknown whether hiring managers were provided a list of the displaced.

Financial reduction of human assets, combined with continued hiring creates a large window for change. Change promotes growth. One of the actuarial parameters probably related to time passed since an asset applied for, or was considered for advancement.

Change is good for people as well as big corporations.

The skill used to acquire the work to begin with, was a combination of education and experience. Those skills were poured into the desired production mold, and benefitted the corporation. The worker was compensated for his efforts and eventually was able to sit back and do the work like he knew what he were doing. This is a distinct warning sign of resistance to change.

The corporate "change" announcement was just what the comfortable needed.

Embrace change. Be thankful for the opportunity to prove yourself.

Inspiration

... comes from many places.

It does.

One never knows for certain which thought to pay attention to. After-all, most of them are pure rubbish. Just their presence in your mind is wasting more time than they could possibly be worth. They should be ignored immediately, dissuaded from their efforts grab the attention that comes with consideration.

Inspiration.

Occasionally you have time with the source and take away that little bit of ... wow.

And the questions begin. Who is this person? Yes, this little bit of inspiration, pestering me for several days now, comes from a person. I was exposed to this contagion by "listening" to one of this person's books. Their second book ... who is this person? Publishing this second book at 21? Who does that happen to?

Not me. Never me. Never will be me.

First off, the main male character's alias is to die for. Did I think of that when I assumed the fantum alias. back in the day? No. And not since either. I would use it now but I have some small sense of pride, and some direct training and practice regarding plagiarism.

And it would probably require a five digit numerical suffix to get by the "already in use" parameter restrictions.

The inspiration bit I am purloining from the story, is the use of Tumblr as a blog. I had to Google a "how-to"... and here we are.
