The Best Looks From Coachella 2017

It’s April again and not only my favorite month of the year but also the month when the sun begins to shine, shorts are coming back for purchase and people are laying by the pool again. This month is about the preparation of summer and as highlight of it all, Coachella. The one place where fashion, music and the arts come together to give us all a sneak peak of what is coming for this year's summer fashion trends. three days of boho chic and denim fibe’s. one again it was a living runway, so here are some great Coachella looks you will be wearing this summer. 

To start it all of with the queen of fashion Chiara Ferragni, the girl who travels the world in the most amazing clothes to attend the most amazing places for her self-promotion. Obviously she was part of Coachella. on her first day she wore this see trough mini dress with a black bathing suit underneath. the look was something totally different then we are just to see from here. it’s more modern then here normal vintage clothes. besides from that, the dress looks great on here combined with here blondest hair ever and her neck full of jewelry. It almost gives me the fibe of Kim Kardashian at the VMA’ s last year. a great look from here and appropriate for a crazy festival. On the second day she wore my favorite look from her, a all Dior look, a big fluffy see-through Dior skirt with white Dior shorts underneath and a kind of corset Dior crop top. Super fancy and super dramatic what I love of her. We all know Chiara loves the new Dior looks and ones again she presents us a dream come trough last week with this all white fantasy look. To make the weekend, and Paris Fashion Week, complete, Chiara wore an all Fenty by Rihanna look. It included a cream bikini top and bottom and an flower see through, loose fitting cream dress over it, combined with the neckless's from Friday it makes a beautiful third look. Her Hair was in two small buns to complete the look. 

Talking about Rihanna, She didn’t choose from within her on french collection. Rihanna who wasn’t performing and not even on the festival grounds at all, came only to Coachella to show off here straight of the runway Gucci look. A look that takes Rihanna and Gucci to another level. the super extra look included an oversized Gucci logo tank top, super short denim shorts, bulky black boots and the sparkling skin-tight suit to complete the look. If you would like to look like Rihanna for Coachella 2018, obviously you can for a whopping 8.480 dollars, not bad.   

A girl who did attend the Coachella festival ground in summery outfits was Victoria Secret Model, Sara Sampaio. Instagram blew up after she posted a photo of herself wearing this slightly see-through jumpsuit. She took the bohemian theme very serious with this black suit. the stars combined with the braids and the 00′s sunglasses it is a free and fun look. although it’s a great jumpsuit, the most loving part of this outfit must be the simple neckless's, big but small at the same time, I personally hope to see far more of it this summer. 

The Englisch girl who posted Coachella pics for over a week before the event, Jourdan Dunn, obviously was part of the craziness. I can proudly say that Dunn is one of the most beautiful models at this point in time, to my taste.  this year she went for a more simple look. An Afrika inspired look. the white high waisted denim shorts combined with a very short oddly, but beautiful, white printed crop top must be a combination from heaven. It’s casual but playful at the same time. in contrast with her rich skin, it screams summer at daytime but also at nighttime. Jourdan is here to stay.

I think there is a new Coachella queen in town, Vanessa eat your heart out because Shay Mitchell is in town. No for real, I really think Shay may be the new Coachella queen, with her long goddess hair and amazing lifestyle. I am quite obesses with her because you cna really follow her life trough Instagram and youtube. So ccan you see what is behind all the insta pics. Shay rentend the biggest mansion for this years madness to have enough room for her glam squad, including a make-up artist, hair stylist and her personal assistant, sammy. besid that Shay took here whole closet for only two days because she was to fancy to be there for the thirth day. For day 0, she wore her goddess hair combind with a pink high waisted bikini bottom and a pink unicorn pool float. I think it's the best insta pic of the year, she is just the most beautiful girl in the world. For Coachella/Revolve day 1, Shay wore a perfect denim short with a black belt, so perfect that it must be expensive combined with a vintage T-shirt cut in half so here belly was out and about. To make the look more perfect She braided her hair in some part. For her second day she took it more denim with a straight fit ripped denim jeans, a bikini top made of wool, why not, and a matching denim jacket. A look that couldn't be more perfect for Coachella. To make it even more perfect she made her hair look like it were tiny dreadlocks and obviously it looked amazing. 

from the new Coachella queen to the former one, Vanessa Hudgens. The true queen who doesn’t go to Coachella for one weekend, no, Venessa does it all and also goes to the second. We all know she basically invented boho-chic and the flower crowns so here is a rundown what she wore to Coachella, SO FAR.  on day 1 of weekend 1 she wore this love black on black combo with a whole blanket and a big hat to finish the look. Yes, very Coachella. On day 2 she wore a see-through knitted wool oversized dress with a french hat and a Chanel bag. I really think that Coachella would move locations just to fit Vanessa into the theme. On the last day of weekend one she wore my favorite look of her, a metallic tank top and green shorts, so everyone would know that miss Hudgens is in town. a week later Vanessa was back with a with floor length farmer dress. To make a conclusion, Vanessa Still rocks the job of Coachella queen. 

I personally thing Coachella 2017 was a great year with lots of Coachella trends that are her to stay. Hope to see more this summer and obviously next year at Coachella.

This weeks look of the week goes to Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid after the Alexander Wang fall winter 2017 show yesterday. The two models rocked the all black winter collection from Wang with ASAP Ferg, who sat rond row during the show.

NYFW Calvin Klein

So, Calvin Klein showed up again. On the second day of fashion week in New York we got introduced to the new Calvin Klein. Calvin Klein by Raf Simons. The   famous Raf Simons came to Calvin Klein mid-2016 and he was sepostto show his fist collection for Cavin during New York Fashion week in September. There was a lot of prasure on him because he is THE Raf Simons. people were wondering about his breakthrough by Klein, and so was I. Until the news came that Raf wasn’t going to show the collection. He dissited to pass this one because he wasn’t proud of it. only a hand full of people saw the collection in private, but nothing has every come out to the public eye. A shame because now there is a summer season without Calvin Klein. 

But Friday the 10th of February was the day that Simons did show us what he could do with Klein. A-list People all came to New York to witness it, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julianne Moore, A$AP Rocky, Naomie Harris, Millie Bobby Brown, Connor Franta and of course Anna Wintour. The Show presented during Woman’s Fashion Week also included Men’s Fashion what made it kind of a unisex collection. with under 65 looks it’s all captured in a small and powerful collection. I had the highest hopes, as I always have, for this show. 

That is was designed by Raf Simons was clear. The minimalistic 90′s that Simons loves was so clear that is was almost written on the chests of the models, who weren’t covered at all, by the way. The skinny male and female models walked the runway in totally sheer fabrics to show the world their nipples. For a winter collection you could say it was a bit inappropriate. But the coats. Oh may. The coats were amazing. Perfect tailored suit coats and fur coast all covert in sheer plastic raincoats just slightly longer to create a pleasant layering effect. There also were a lot of high turtle necks and a bunch of male/female/unisex suits, just to share, I guess.  It was a great first time collection for Raf Simons bit next time he has to impress me even more, but I think he can do that.

Tommy x Gigi SS17

Fashion week fall winter 2017/2018 is just around the corner and we’re dying to see the newest trends from Victoria Backham, The Row and many more. But before that will happen, Tommy Hilfiger showed us his (and hers) spring summer 2017 collection. Yes, spring summer. for over decades all the big fashion brands showed their summer collection in September and their winter collection in February. This is because the big brand and the low street brand, like H&M and Zara can prepare themselves for the season, so you as a customer can shop the newest trends anywhere as soon as the sun hits the sky. Showing the spring summer collection in February and the fall winter collection in September, isn’t unknown in the world of fashion. So does Burberry for over two years and Prada with some of their bags, that sold out in seconds. The past ten years the internet and the online world has exploded what means that it is much easier for people to get on with the newest trends like this Tommy Hilfiger collection. It’s something different And I don’t know what I must think of it.

Then for the show itself. The New York based fashion brand took it international by flying to Gigi’s hometown, LA. Venice Beach was the location for this years spring summer fashion show. A beautiful location that fitted perfectly in the Hilfiger feeling. the rough environment with the fun-park in the back, it couldn’t have been better. But flying to LA for it?  I don’t know.  The fashion complemented the looks with the biggest 90′s vibe yet. Everything you saw could have been 90′s vintage, something Hilfiger is known for. I personly like the Tommy 90′s vibe very much but the Gigi influence and the 2017 part were strongly missing. there were lovely crop tops and super oversized polo shirt that  I loved, but baggy cargo pants, no thanks. those were left in 2005 and should have stayed there forever and ever. as lovely the bathing suits were in SS16 as ugly were they now. so boring and just not it. The same goes for the maxi dresses, yes Gigi wore a beautiful dress but that would be the only one. 

I am not that impressed by the collection. the good hopes that I had for this collaboration were for no goods. Yes, there were some thing that were great and will sell but overall it wasn’t worth flying to Venice for it.

MFW men Dolce & Gabbana

Let’s say it was a great night for men’s fashion last night in Milan. Men’s Fashion week just started this friday and already we have seen more fashion in two days than we have seen this past month. 

Normally I’m so into Men’s fashion week. I don’t know why. I’m a man, I like fashion and I wear clothes. Could be the perfect formula for someone to dig deep into Men’s fashion week. For no reason it hasn’t came up, until yesterday. I saw Dolce & Gabbana Post a invitation for their men’s fashion show. When I also saw many celebrities coming to Milan, I thought, why not. So I set my alarm at 2PM and watched the Dolce & Gabbana show followed by Versace, Moschino and Plein Sports. After watching al the shows back, I thought, why not write a review... So here it is. The review of the Dolce & Gabbana men’s fashion show FW 2017/18.

I always watch the Dolce & Gabbana show but never think that’s it that special but also not awful, so I don’t write about it. Yesterday when I watched the men’s show I did find it special. let me explain. Dolce & Gabanna is an Italian brand in every way. with all their Italian habits. the gold details, the over the top prints that don’t match, the search for online attention. They are trying so hard but they aren’t succeeding. I researched the men’s fashion throughout the years after I watched the recent show. It’s much better then the female shows. As I write this review I am thinking that maybe Dolce & Gabbana is one of a few brands that is better in producing men’s clothes than woman’s. Normally if a high-end brand as Dolce & Gabbana or Moschino or Valentino produced a men’s collection it is bad, real bad. It’s just a loose end. It’s feels like it is there backside hotel room and the women get the sea view one. 

For this year’s show Dolce & Gabbana also tried to get more success only. but this time with success. they had internet celebrities as Cameron Dallas, Marcus Butler and Jim Chapman walking there show. this had mature impact on instagram, snapchat and youtube. everyone was talking about how Cameron rocked his crown. what by the way was an epic crown, if you ask me. The Fashion itself was cool extremely fun and winter approved. the dark green bomber jackets with the bold letters and floral prints where mouth dropping. some navy and black silk suits were to die for but others with weird prints D&G should have better left it private. some shirts were beautifully cut and made the man while others like those Jim Chapman were baggy and looked like grandma’s pyjama’s. also the furry Rihanna bad slippers were horrible, we have seen them and we never want to see theme ever again. then the pants, some were to cropped and other to skinny. I don’t know if I should get just to them of that it’s not something to find beautiful. but overall I thought it was a great men show and I’m looking forward to the next one in june. 

for the rest of the men shows. I think I will be watching those too. so stay tuned for more reviews.

PFW Valentino

Paris is disappointing me, so far. Balenciaga took back weird things from the 80′s, Loewe saw fashion in homeless people and Givenchy dissed the glamour and went full colour. Now my favourite brand of all, Valentino, presented a collection that wasn’t there best.

Valentino will always be the best. They have something magical that other brands don’t have. When you see their clothes of watch their runways shows you feel like you are in a not existing magical world. This time Valentino changed locations, an historical building in Paris, how original. The models walked almost on the feets of the people on first row. The dark misterical fibe was gone and replaced with boringness. For the collection itself, it was casual. Normally I don’t mind casual but Valentino has to be dramatic. there were coats, for spring summer, are you serious, cocktail dresses and simple tops. Oof course there were some evening dresses and flowy skirts that were amazing but the real Valentino kept hiding. In contrast tot the clothes, the bags  were amazing, cute little and detailed. There were some rock studded and some awesome colours.

Yesterdag Valentino showed us the whole collection in there showroom in Paris. I had a second look at is. I will say that some looks were pretty nice, not all of them of course but I was pleasantly surprised. Now it’ s hoping for Valentino to show a better collection next season. Everyone deserves a second change.

PFW Balmain

The Balmain nation arrived, again. The brand that can’t live without publicity. But it deserves the attention. I personally love Balmain, I can’t say It my favorite brand becouse Valantino will get that one but the second place is free for Balmain. 

I think we can all bow down for how Olivier Rousteing, how he literally ‘made’ Balmain. in 2003 he began working for Cavalli and made it to Creative Director. After five years of Cavalli he jumped to a new adventure: Balmain, a old and dusty french fashion brand that needed a change. That change came in 2011 when Rousteing made it to ‘Creative Director’ and changed the whole astetic of Balmain a risk that payed him well. Everyone was in love with the new Balmain, It was new, innovative, modern haute couture but stayed french. He brought Balmain back into the fashion industry. I could have stopped there and made collection after collection every year but he didn’t. After a while celebrity's like Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Doutzen Kroes, Rihanna and Rosie Huntington Whiteley so he included them into Balmain using Instagram, big adds and frond row seats. So after a while the whole world was in love with the expensive fashion brand of Balmain what by the way also is beautyfull. 

For this Season Rousteing choose the theme ‘secret garden’ and made a 81 piece collection with safari themed looks and lots of cut-outs and strange silhouettes that surprisingly worked well. The colours were beautiful and complimented each other. The stiff and harsh Balmain Look we saw past years wasn’t anywhere to be found what can be scary but Olivier replaced it with some great alternatives. The textures were original and beautiful and I am dying to see some looks on the big celebs.  Of course there were some downsides. Like the collection wasn’t one. some looks were more solo’s and because everything changed there were some dresses where I hope for nobody will see theme again. we will forget those because the collection was epic and I hope I will meet the master mind: Olivier Rougsteing one day.

PFW Saint Laurent

New York was edge, we saw a classic Victoria Backham and a not so classic Michael Kors. Then it was Londen who gave us a sneek peek into Versace with the Versus collection. Last week everyone went to Milan for a week of Italian fashion where Gucci runned the runway. Now it is time for Paris, the capital of fashion where high fashion can be on for years but the next years you’re out. Saint Laurent started the madness.

Saint Laurent may not be by ‘the big tree’, as I call it, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Dior, but Saint Laurent is a brand that lives forever and will live forever. In the 60′s there was Yves Saint Laurent, the founder of YSL. He mad one of the best statements in the fashion history after the ‘new look’ of Christian Dior, the business suit for women. People were upset, a suit for our stay at home woman. It was so revolutionary, Laurent was the genius of fashion. after everyone was calmed down he introduced the world to the ‘safari look’, a trend that has never been out of style since that day. Yves took some risks but only the best ones. Yves then had a life of ups and downs with this lover until he died in 2009 and a legend died. I have always loved Laurent and he will always be by favorite designer.

The spring summer collection with the creative eye of Anthony Vaccarello represented the undying YSL look in a 2017 version. Leather looks with the best-tailored suit jackets. we all know that Saint Laurent can mix leather and denim the best, we saw that. perfect deep heart shaped leather crop tops with the best boyfriend jeans, that will probably sell for over 2 grand, but who cares. I also love it when a designer shows us some skin, in a way it is sexy but not to much. Saint Laurent did that with the ‘free the nipple’, ultimately sexy but so sexy. combined with the leather you would think it would be tacky but no sine of tackiness in this collection. a great collection of Saint Laurent and we all know what we ar going to were for our next dine out date.

The Fashion capital of the word. where there are more fashion boutique's  in Paris then there are public toilets in Los Angels. from Lavin to Chanel and Louis Vuitton to Kenzo, the best fashion brands are based in Paris. MFW Moschino

We already have seen a few shows, some were  blast but others weren’t something to remember. Last night Jeremy Scott showed us a new Moschino collection and we could have imagined how it went. 

In New York Scott presented a good collection for his own brand ‘Jeremy Scott’ and we all wondered if it was a preview of the Moschino show, a 80′s inpired humoristic collection. That wasn’t quite it. There wasn’t anything 80′s about the collection. Jeremy left the ages aside and went full out with the ‘paperdoll’ theme. Every girl, including Gigi and Bella Hadid and Romee Stijd, walked the runways in dresses with printed on dresses. It a unusual process. Of example, Gigi wore a simple evening gown, printed on the dress was another dress with shading and details. To add more paperdoll to the dresses there were big labels all over the clothes to represent the glue parts of the doll dresses everyone had as a kid. It was something totally original, as usual. I liked it, and I was totally impressed by the idea but would you wear it?

MFW Philipp Plein

Philipp Plein, a 38 year old man from Germany who likes to show us sexy on the edge. For six years Philipp is with us on Milan Fashion Week and every time it’s a ride on itself. If you have a fear of roller coaster, moving runways, robots or concerts you aren't safe at the Philipp Plein show. 

For my taste it’s getting out of hand. Last season the models walked on moving plates in kind of a moving factory. This time, a whole candy store village was build. I am wondering if the assemblage is more important for Philipp. What I totally get because the collection wasn’t something to be remembered. 

The show started last night at 9:30 PM europian time, with Fergie riding in the back of a classic car showing us her killing vocals, a better beginning you can’t get if you ask me. half a minute after Fergie came on the runway the first models walked out in reviling denim outfits combined with big golden jewelry, a little tacky you can say, but it can get better I thought. It didn’t. Every model coming on the runways was dressed in ordinary clothes and big tacky jewelry. Normally Philipp Plein knows the border between fashion and trash but this time he went past the borders. It just wasn’t flattering. many big dog collars and short denim skirt with golden emballagemets. After 59 horrible looks with a few items I thought could be something, all the models went on a big carousel and Fat Joe got also in a Classic Car and performed on the runway followed by Philipp Plein and Fergie. I would miss it and I hope It will all be better next season.

MFW Gucci

We all waited for six months un-till now, Milan Fashion week has begon. For starters there was Gucci. Gucci is a staple in the Italian fashion industry for decades. The signature Gucci pattern and the bags, during the 00′s Gucci went on great but it wasn’t spacial. in 2015 we met a new Gucci style, ‘grandma chique. 

Grandma chique made it to a new era. It was original and risky. The spring summer 2016 show was a revolution that could have gone two ways, really good or really bad. luckily it went great, everyone loved it. Innovating, creative, new, exciting and great references to the 60′ s and 70′s. on that note Gucci went further. The fall/winter collection made the new Gucci image a standard and brought Gucci back on the map. 

You can imagine the presure, Alexandro Michele, the creative director of the Gucci label, felt before presenting this seasons collection. It was bolder than ever. First of all, the room was poorly lit with purple lighting whereby you couldn’t make out the colours of the clothes but it gave a special effect. The collection itself was very inspired by the 60′s with short dresses with colourful tights underneath. Colour blocking to the next level, bold prints with bold colours combined with big shades all in one outfit but nothing tacky. The whole collection was genius. I can not get it, how can someone design a collection with everything we assume to be ugly but we kind off love it. This is only something Alexandro can do. It was miraculous. A living circus merged with your best fairytale dreams. I haven’t seen such beauty in a long time, I could talk about it for over hours, I was a living wonder. we now hope Alexandro Michele will keep taking risks and we will be surprised even more next time.

NYFW Jeremy Scott

You want to party? You can party with this new Jeremy scott collection. Jeremy always gets you back on track halftime New York Fashion Week with a fun, happy and optimistic show. some call it a lightweight collection, others call it a smart preview for the Moschino Show in Milano.

Jeremy Scott, a fun, optimistic, 41 year old men from Kansas City. He knows what people like and the knows how he can get to them with fashion. He never tries to do it on other terms, always on this own. With his own fashion rules, Chanel inspired MacDonald costumes and destroyed evening gowns, his gets away with everything and people love it. It’s original and something totally different from our usual fashion.

For his Spring Summer 2017 collection he went in different directions with an overall theme, the 80′s. he made some geometrical dress for aliens and others in that kind. the made some leather outfits and Las Vegas themed prints. All those thing he uses on normal silhouettes, simple dresses and regular fit pants. What makes it more original. Scott knows how to go all out without changing the garments from or normal silhouettes. It’s brilliant, in that way you don’t feel like: ‘who the hell would wear that!’, except for the alien dresses of course. Even more exciting were the men outfits, the were marched into the theme of the show but also pretty nice separate. the leather jackets and the fun pink pants, we all know what were are going to wear...

NYFW Victoria Backham

Our Sunday morning queen has arrived. Victoria buckram showed us her spring summer collection for 2017 and we aren’t surprised of what she showed us. 

I feel a little connected to Victoria because I share her son his age. So every time I see something about Victoria Backham I will thing about Brooklyn Backham. But anyway, Victoria Bacham... She showed us she could sing in the 90′s, in the 00′s she showed us she could be a cool mom and at this moment of time she is showing us she can be a fashion designer. I love here style. It’s minimalistic, chique and original. if you put ten dresses in a row you can see easily which is a Victoria Backham one. For This collection she didn’t step out of her comfort zone. maybe she tried it with new fabrics but the the shape of the dresses and tops are almost the same as her previous collection. what isn’t bad because both collection are good collection but it just didn’t surprise me. I think she has just a couple of shaped dresses in her mind and she will show us them every season. But you can say it’s lazy but you can’t say it isn’t pretty, because every outfit she presented this season is beautiful. So why should you change it up if you’re doing good already. 

There is only one item on the collection that i totally felt wrong about, the boots. there were ugly as hell and aren’t flattering at all. All those nice formal dresses with those farmer boots, that’s a no for me Victoria, and I ain’t sorry.

NYFW Alexander Wang

Things just happend. Alexander Wang showed us his spring summer 2017 collection and it looks like a comeback. Wang is with us in the fashion world for over ten years and you can say that he has made it. for the first seven years he played it cool,  with some god collection but his real breakout was in 2014. 

In september 2014 during New York Fashion Week we saw the spring summer 2015 collection inspired by sneakers. it was the bomb. sleek futuristic fabrics and new original fabrics. It was groundbreaking and it made me fall in love with Alexander Wang. I even wrote an essay about him after the fashion show. But there was more from him in the year 2014. In November the big collaboration with H&M dropped and within two seconds the world was obsessed with Wang. The collection was all black and grey, sporty, futuristic and totally cool. sportswear hasn’t ever looked better. It’s a shame I never got a change to buy an item. You can guess the expectation for his ten year anniversary in march of 2015 were high. I remember I was sitting for my computer watching the lifestream and hoping it was even better than ever. It wasn’t. Wang did something totally different, he made it more HipHop, steetstyle. Bye Bye modern fashion and hello homeless man. The collection that followed were all the same for me, just not it. 

For this year I had no good hopes. The show was at 3:00 AM european time, so I was sleeping when it all happend. It was until this morning that I’ve first saw the collection. I was plessendly surprised, it wasn’t bad. The same street style fibe was in the collection but in a good way. the crosslines and lace-up, I liked it. It was symmetrically what I absolutely adore. the blow-up shorts and skirts were something I’ve never seen before but I didn’t mind it, it was new and it was Alexander Wang, and it turned out well. He went all out, with the collection but also with the celebrity’s and models, including Kendall Jenner, Romee Strijd, Kylie Jenner, Tyga, Madonna, Jourdan Dunn and Tina Shenow. It made me Alexander Wang crazy again and I am already looking forward to the next one.
