sorry for writing a new post abt the same thing

my friend, v, has been in an abusive situation and have managed to relocate (see: couch surfing, paid hostels, cheap hotels). the bathroom would be locked at all times, their stuff was thrown out, their cat was left to wander around etc etc

i have been fostering their cat, and have been helping them with groceries.

their parents cut them off as well recently and it has been dire for them. they are doing freelance but it is not helping much, and they have applied to multiple places and hoping to hear from them soon

The mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, was unlawfully arrested yesterday, and is being detained by the Turkish government. İmamoğlu was set to be nominated on March 23rd, just a few days from now, to run for president by the CHP, Turkey's main opposition party.

TO MAKE THAT CLEARER: the Turkish government is unlawfully detaining their only real political opposition for the next election.

Here is what I have been told, by someone in my inbox who is from Turkey themselves:

Yesterday the government unlawfully arrested their only rival in the next election. People are trying to protest but the police are almost attacking the civilians. Especially the metros and other public transformation has been closed. And the schools are still open, the school busses were dropping the kids off half an hour late to school. The Turkish lira is dropping in value every second, I’m talking about this anonymously hoping that i won’t wake up with police next morning.

Also theres one thing i forgot to talk about but the internet is off. It's slowed down, tiktok youtube twitter and instagram won't open if you don't have vpn on. They do this on every single instance, the big earthquake, no internet. Which made people die because of it. People were sending their adresses saying they were under the rubble and any help was needed but they couldn't make their voice heard because of the internet being slowed down.
