It’s getting more and more common. I’ve seen three posts about it in the last 24 hours - patreons where you’ll get “exclusive” fanfiction stories if you’re a subscriber.

Don’t.

Don’t do it.

It’s annoying, but mostly it’s fucking dangerous.

The whole fanfiction community prosper on someone else’s turf under “fair use” laws. In simple terms: we can play with other people’s creations for as long as it’s done for our own amusement, and that of our followers.

Once any kind of financial benefits are made, it becomes another abuse of someone else’s rights.

And look, I get it. It sucks, especially seeing the artists take commissions while the authors get nothing, and it takes hours and hours of our time, and I understand people are looking for a side hustle to make ends meet in this monstrosity of a capitalist society, but if we don’t stop it from happening, the rights owners will stop it.

And they’ll stop it for everyone.

It’s not worth it. Don’t do it.

Hermione hadn’t expected it the first time Draco visited the Order of the Phoenix. He was sitting at the long table of the war room in Grimmauld Place with Kingsley, McGonagall, Blaise and Bill, but somehow, Hermione was more stunned by his casual clothing than his presence.

He wore a navy polo with black jeans and black trainers. She only ever saw him in his death eater robes, but he clearly had come straight from home for this and was deep in conversation with the others when he noticed her in the doorway. “What’re you doing here?” she asked.

“Hello to you too, Granger. I’m doing well, thanks for ask—you’re bleeding.”

Hermione saw the way his expression shifted as he stood up to inspect her bleeding eyebrow.

“I’m fine,” she insisted as he tilted her chin up so he could get a better look.

“The bleeding hasn’t even stopped,” Draco said as he took out his wand and healed the cut. “Shouldn’t scar. Who did that?”

“Thanks,” she said. “Don’t worry about it.”

Draco narrowed his eyes and Hermione realized her was still tenderly holding her face in front of the highest ranking members of the Order. Draco rolled his eyes. “When we get married, we can just do it the muggle way. They seem much more inebriated afterward.”

Hermione whipped her head in his direction to stare. “When?” she repeated.

Summary: Bucky asked Natasha to come to Wakanda after he woke up. She didn’t realize how everything would change after that. Takes place before, during and after Infinity War. Length: ~900 words (one-shot)

She kept hearing Rhodey and Bruce talk about how unbelievable Wakanda is, but Natasha wasn’t marveling. This wasn’t her first time in Wakanda. This was, however, her first time going to war in the country. That was the only thing that was unbelievable for her.

The first time she’d been invited here was with Steve. They’d just finished some work in Japan, ending another plan to bring Hydra back to power. Steve had gotten the call that Bucky was awake, and he wanted to go straight to Wakanda.

When they got to the farm, they were shocked to see Bucky feeding goats. She had expected to visit a hospital or something, but there wasn’t much recovery time needed, apparently. Shuri said he was good to go, and he wanted to see Steve and Nat. The latter hadn’t realized that she was invited specifically.

They all hugged and sat down for tea. Bucky and Steve did most of the talking, but Cap eventually excused himself. “Shuri said you asked to see me,” Nat mentioned.

“I remember everything, you know. Everything,” Bucky said.

“You didn’t want to block out all the bad parts?”

“You were the only good part,” he smiled before sipping his tea.

“I’m not that person anymore,” she warned.

“I know. Natalia and James are both gone. So, I just--I guess...” Bucky took a deep breath. “I would like to know you, Natasha, and I’m really hoping that you would like to get to know me as Bucky too. You could even stay for a while…if you want.”

It was going to be a few days, and then Steve got a call from Sam. He said it was a quick mission, and they could handle it themselves. He left her with Bucky, and when he came back, he found that Natasha’s belongings had moved from the guest room into Bucky’s room.

She stayed for two months, but it was clear that this wasn’t just recovery for Bucky. “Look, if there’s a fight that you need me in, I’m there. But I don’t go looking for that,” he said. “And you don’t have to either.”

“Yes, I do. We’ve been over this,” Nat sighed.

“Yeah, I know. I’ve got red in my ledger too. But this is the only place I’ve ever been for more than a couple weeks where no one has been killed because of me. I think I do more good by staying here.”

So they came to the conclusion that Nat would come and go as she pleased. They never labeled the relationship, but if you asked any of the farmhands about the White Wolf’s love life, they’d simply say his wife works a lot.

Natasha started to think of Wakanda the same way Bucky did. It was a sanctuary. Even when she dragged him off the farm and into the city for a play or to a nightclub, it never ended in anything more dramatic than figuring out how to fly a hovercraft. 

Coming to Wakanda with the Avengers made her nervous. After getting the rundown from T’Challa of who was joining the fight, she finally had a moment with Bucky. “Do you like the arm?” she asked.

He sighed. “Fine. You were right. It’s a lot easier to have a second arm.”

“My three favorite words,” she smiled. She understood why he resisted taking the replacement, despite having the port ready in his shoulder. It was a symbol for him of all the violence in his life. He didn’t want that. She felt bad that he had to take it now.

“I’m sorry we brought the fight here,” she tells him.

Bucky kissed her forehead and wrapped both his arms around her waist, a strange feeling after getting used to his one-arm hugs. “This isn’t your fault, and whatever happens today doesn’t ruin anything for us, OK? We’ll rebuild the farm if it gets destroyed. I’ll break you and Steve out of jail if the U.N. comes after you for saving the world. We’ll be fine, OK?”

Natasha ignored the nervousness in his voice. “Yeah, we’re going to be OK.”

“I know you think love is for children and all, but I love you, Nat,” Bucky said. It wasn’t the first time he said it, but it was the first time she said it back.

“I love you too,” she said quietly before pressing her lips to his.

They weren’t discussing the fact that people were going to die today, but this wasn’t their first time on a battlefield. They knew the risks. They knew that their sanctuary was about to become a memorial.

What Natasha didn’t know was that there wouldn’t be any bodies to count. She didn’t know what it would feel like to watch the only place she felt safe become the setting for the worst day of her life. She didn’t know how defeated Steve would look like after watching Bucky fade to dust. She didn’t know how her heart would sink down to her stomach when she realized he was gone. She didn’t know what the world looked like without Bucky in it. 

“We’re getting them back,” Natasha said as she piloted the quinjet back to New York.

“I know,” Steve said. “I just don’t know how.”

So when Scott Lang turned up with a plan, they were ready. “I can’t guarantee how safe this is, but I think it’s our only shot,” he said.

“Whatever it takes,” Natasha said.

Author’s Note: I’ve never posted my Marvel fic before, but @fuckyeahbuckynatasha​’s BuckyNat Week inspired me to finish this (I think I initially started it after seeing Infinity War last year). I haven’t written for fun in FOREVER, so hopefully, I’m not too rusty. Sorry, it doesn’t follow today’s theme. I should’ve done it for MCU Wednesday, but my muse was a little late to the party. Let me know what you think!

“Does he know about the baby?” Mercedes asked.

“Yeah, of course,” Blaine said. “Quinn set us up. She said he watches the baby during Cheerios practice. So he knows … She had to have told him that Beth was mine, right?”

“I honestly don’t get Quinn,” Mercedes shrugged. “With her mood swings, I’m not even sure she thinks about other people.”

“‘Cedes,” Blaine admonished.

Mercedes held her hands up. “I know she’s your baby mama, but I don’t get her. Sometimes I think you and Kurt are the only people she doesn’t hate.”

“So I guess she’s currently the Queen B of McKinley?” Blaine asked. He wished he could go to school with Quinn. He worried about her sometimes.

“Yup. Sometimes I think she forgets that my family took her in when she needed it.”

“Mercedes, I promise Quinn loves you more than she loves most people. She just has … unfortunate priorities. Plus, if you hadn’t taken her in when she was pregnant, I would’ve never met you, and that would’ve been a tragedy.”

Mercedes laughed. “I really hope you and Kurt like each other. He could use a friend.”

Blaine went to the Lima Bean to meet Kurt the next day. They chatted about musicals and fashion, and Blaine found himself utterly fascinated by Kurt. And then Kurt asked the question.

“So how do you know Quinn?” Kurt asked.

Blaine felt his heart jump into his throat. “She didn’t tell you?”

“No. I was just wondering since you never went to school with us.”

“I can’t believe she didn’t explain this to you,” Blaine sighed. “Before you came out, did you ever pretend to be straight?”

“Yes,” Kurt laughed. “With Brittany Pierce. So she was your first girlfriend?”

“Yeah,” Blaine said and took a deep breath. “And I got her pregnant.”

Blaine was pretty sure Kurt’s eyeballs would fall out of his head if he opened them any wider. “You’re Beth’s dad?” Kurt asked.

“That’s me.”

“Wow, I thought I had run into every possible issue a closeted gay teen could have, but … Wow.”

“Yeah, our families went to the same church, and my dad said I wasn’t allowed to be gay. My stupid brother said that maybe having sex with a girl would change my mind, so I gave it a shot. It didn’t work, obviously.”

“Wow,” Kurt repeated.

Blaine saw the dumbfounded look on his face. “I should go. I’m sorry, Kurt. I really assumed Quinn would tell you beforehand.”

“No don’t go,” Kurt said, but Blaine was already bolting out the door. Kurt followed him into the parking lot. “Blaine, wait!”

Blaine stopped and turned around. “Kurt, you don’t want to date a gay 17-year-old with a 2-year-old baby girl, and that’s totally okay.”

“Maybe I do,” Kurt said indignantly.

“Seriously?”

“I don’t know, but I don’t think you should decide that we’re over because I’m shocked for a couple minutes. Look, I know that I like you. I know that I love your daughter because I’ve been babysitting her every Tuesday and Thursday for a year. Maybe we could work out, or maybe I’m in way over my head, but I’d like to find out for myself.”

“Would it be okay if I kissed you now?” Blaine asked.

“Very.”

Blaine pulled Kurt close to him and pressed their lips together. It was a little messy, with too much enthusiasm and tongue, but he’d never felt more sure of a good thing.

Blaine went back to Quinn’s house to see Beth before she went to sleep. He found Quinn on her bed with the baby asleep on her chest. “I know I should put her to bed, but I just want to stare at her like this for a few more minutes,” Quinn whispered.

“She’s going to be too big for this soon,” Blaine noted as he laid down next to her. “You didn’t tell him I was Beth’s dad.”

“You thought I was going to make it easy for you?” Quinn smiled. “I’m guessing since you’re not sulking that he took the news well.”

“He did. He’s a good man,” Blaine said.

“I knew he would,” Quinn said.

Blaine sighed. “I might like him too much.”

“Good. Fall in love with him,” Quinn said.

“What?”

“Fall in love with him. Doodle your last names together on notebooks and makeout in cars and go to prom. Let yourself fall for him Blaine.”

“Quinn, we don’t get to be—“

“No, you get to be a real person. Beth doesn’t mean you have to give up your life. I’ve been the one taking extra nights for dates and socializing for two years now. It’s your turn. Be a teenager a few nights a week.”

“You think it’ll work out?”

“I think Kurt is a person who will understand your life. And I think you could make each other happy. I wouldn’t give up dates with football players if I didn’t believe that.”

Blaine squeezes her hand. “Love you,” he said.

“Yeah, you’ll love him too soon,” Quinn smirks.
