EDGE OF THE WOODS will be screened by Yeah, That’s What She Said at UnionDocs

Join Yeah, That’s What She Said for our 3rd annual GAZE FOR DAYS movie screening! We are proud to present a selection of 7 short feature films and documentaries that address how women’s bodies are impacted through experiences with institutional and structural systems of oppression. The films include stories of ---Disability ---Women's physical and emotional labor ---Body hair norms ---Transitions from the physical body to the spiritual body ---Border miliarization ---Queer & women of color resist dystopian state violence After the movie screening, we will have a short Q&A with some of the filmmakers. This event welcomes people of all genders. Tickets to the movie screening are $10-$20 sliding donation, with no one turned away! Tickets are available for purchase through Eventbrite and at the door.

EDGE OF THE WOODS is an Official Selection of the 2016 Blackbird Film Festival

The Blackbird Film Fest is an international film festival open to all film/video makers from across the globe. Blackbird Film Fest allows film/video makers from around the world to showcase their work and receive recognition from film educators and professionals. The Blackbird Film Festival was founded by a group of production professionals and university film professors who wanted to curate a festival based on two key ingredients: Theory and Practice.

So often, media makers separate themselves into one of these two groups and never look back. Our goal is to break free of this and expose makers to diverse forms of quality filmmaking. Documentary filmmakers should collaborate with music video artists, wedding videographers should mingle with experimental artists, etc.

Our mission is to get media makers thinking across genres and styles to bring out the best in their own work. At Blackbird, we also want to highlight phenomenal filmmaking and recognize films and talents that may have been overlooked by larger, profit driven festivals.
