I adore TFC, but if I see one more mainstream youtuber talk about it like it's the peak definition of yandere I'm gonna backflip off a balcony.
TFC is lovely, but besides it NOT being a dating sim, which I see repeated so many times, and it actually being a visual novel.
It's also not just a dry and cut "yandere" story. There are plenty of 100% unquestionable yanderes out there, Pierrot just managed to slip and slide into that category, but if we were to grade him, he'd probably be just about a 5 out of 10 on that scale. (Mileage may vary, I've encountered some pretty harsh yandere, amputation, rape, "close friends/family murder", arson, mindbreak, etc, Pierrot is pretty tame in comparison, especially when keeping in mind the "cultural differences" of monster vs human. (I did grade him on the human scale.)
I also feel like the mainstreamers are calling it yandere under the wrong understanding of the word, in the context of visual novels, especially the adult yandere visnov space. 18+ yandere is not "Aww he extra likes me and is a bit scary! teheee" it's not the same as the shounen manga presentation of yandere either. VisNov 18+ yandere are NOT for kids, obviously.
This is a problem you don't know what you're saying, you don't understand the basics around the yandere trope in this context, and are now presenting it to minors and people who hate dark themes, like it's a perfect little safespace for them. When it just isn't.
And you're, arguably, using a "yandere" like Pierrot to make it seem even more harmless, because it's not as aggressively overt as in other parts of the visual novel space.
Like "Oh Pierrot isn't so bad... that means the rest of the yandere visnovs out there..."
No, no no no. (Not to mention, we had people throw entire meltdowns because the green pervert with boundary issues, turned out to have boundary issues. Wow, shocker... if you don't know yandere visual novel standards.)
Stop making it sound like it's a trope and space that's open for "all ages."
I don't know why so many youtubers with a young audience feel comfortable playing an adult oriented, 18+ game for their audiences, but it's weird. Just because people aren't flopping big fat cocks around and dripping pussies, doesn't mean you can just ignore that this game isn't intended for minors.
The average visual novel yandere is not for children. You wouldn't advertise a fucking dildo to children by talking how "fun the colors and texture" is. So why are you talking about yandere like it's perfectly fine to just dip your toes in it, despite the numerous warnings, and it clearly being labelled as adult/NSFW/18+???
Honestly this devolved more into a rant about how much I can't stand irresponsible youtubers/influencers/content creators opening the doors to 18+/Adult spaces, and then creating an environment that encourages kids to seek out 18+ content because "well it didn't seem that bad when POPULAR YOUTUBER, with a YOUNG AUDIENCE played it."
