The iPad 3 is coming!
Are the rumors true? Is the iPad 3 being announced on March 7? The new iPad is rumored to have a retina display, a new quad core processor as well as new cameras. All sounds pretty good to me, coming in the same form factor as the iPad 2 but possibly a millimeter thicker. So do you believe the rumors?
Hey there - cool blog you got going! Hope you don't mind if I use some of your content later down the road, great stuff. New follower, can you please follow me back?
Hey thanks! That's absolutely fine! And yup will do :)
Apple VS HTC
For me this is the real question, not the standard "Apple VS Android".
ANDROID
Although this is basically the same question for me it's very different. HTC's devices look and feel great. They feel quality and not junk. For me personally looks are rather important so this is why if you're going to choose Android you have to choose HTC. HTC's Sense interface makes Android a real contendor for me in this decision. Any other UI (User Interface) just looks plain ugly in my opinion. For me I often find they can just look cluttered and not sleek and elegant like HTC's interface. I am well aware that HTC Sense has a real impact on the speed of the phone but I still find that without it I just wouldn't be able to use Android because it's just straight up ugly without Sense. One of the major downside of android for me is the apps. 99% of them are plain ugly. This really puts me off coz apps are such a major part of a smartphone.
APPLE
Lets continue on the point of apps, Apple definitely takes the cake in terms of apps for me they're all really we designed and function very effectively. This is to do with a few factors, firstly Apple doesn't allow much freedom with the design of their apps and so most of them look very similar which I personally like because it provided uniformity. Another reason why Apple has better apps is because of their screening process. All apps are screened by Apple very thoroughly which provides a consistant level of quality apps. Something that I don't like about Apple is their messaging app, it's ugly. I really don't like those tacky bubbles that the messages are in it just looks cheep and like its come straight from some old windows instant messenger. On the other hand the design and build quality of Apple products is extremely good. But as always this come with a price. And you're paying for a smaller screen too. I'm not sure about you but that doesn't make a lot of sense to me..
CONCLUSION
So which is better? Well it's not quite that simple. It depends on you! Do you want a simple user interface with lots of quality apps or a somewhat more confusing interface with average apps. But of course android provides a lot more opportunities for customization. So do you like things handed to you on a platter, Apple or do you want to work for it a bit more, Android? It's up to you but personally I have an HTC Sensation right now and I'm just getting sick of it because everything seems a lot of effort for simple tasks. Maybe I need to make a change to Apple? What do you think?
Quad Core HTC Phone coming?
HTC had the internet going crazy late last year when a leak revealed the beastly "HTC Edge". Now called the Endeavor, it will supposedly come equipped with Nvidia’s quad core Tegra 3 processor. Yes, monstrous quad-core goodness all in a smartphone package. A report from "MoDaCo" claims the device is set to be unveiled by the Taiwanese company as soon as Mobile World Congress.
Aside from a Tegra 3 processor, the Edge will reportedly pack a 4.7 inch 720p display, 1GB RAM, 8 megapixel camera, 1.3 megapixel front. In addition, the device will come preloaded with Android 4.0 and HTC Sense 4.0, wrapping up the next-gen hardware with the next evolution in software.
4.7 sounds very big for a screen but having held one for myself I can asure you that it is perfectly workable and you won't have any problems putting it in your pocket. Now we await HTC's new flagship device, hopefully not too long! So will this be the phone for you?
Why don't you update this?!
I've been very busy with school but I hope to get back into it very shortly!
iOS 5 Coming Soon!!
iTunes 10.5 is out. iCloud is live. iCloud has a link directing to to a page on Apple.com on how to install it which unfortunately isn't live yet... But everything is coming together!!
Another photo show how close we are!
Apple shares drop.
iPhone 4S a disappointment.
iPhone 4S is a bit of a disappointment. Apple's shares have dropped since the announcement. It's no better that a lot of the smartphones already out eg the Samsung Galaxy S 2 or the HTC Sensation. Only cool features is the voice control, which is already on android but that's not even part of the 4S that's iOS 5. Disappointing Apple.
The new HTC Rhyme
HTC Rhyme
At HTC's most recent media event in New York they unveiled the HTC Rhyme, directed mainly at women (it's purple by the way).
The Rhyme will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread on a 1GHz single core processor with 768MB of RAM, as well as HTC’s latest and greatest version of their Sense UI (3.5) on top. The phone features a 3.7 inch display, slightly smaller for the women would don't particularly fancy a big 4.3 inch display or similar. On the back of the phone there is a 5 mega-pixel camera with 720p HD video recording as well as a VGA front facing camera. Probably the phones biggest selling point is its "charm". The phone literally has a little charm that you can attach to it which is meant to hang out of a woman’s purse/handbag and will flash whenever the phone gets a new notification, ie. a new message or a phone call. The phone also comes with a nice simplistic charging/docking station and a pair of "tangle free" headphones.
So the HTC Rhyme is basically the perfect women's phone. It's not too big, yet big enough. And it's got a nifty charm to draw them in as well. Not to mention that the specs of the phone are pretty good too, although now we've got dual core phones coming out and speak of quad core (unlikely for quite a while I think, it would drain the battery too fast) this phones is still a very decent phone by today's standards. With it's 1GHz processor and 768MB of RAM it certainly shouldn't have many issues. And it's aimed at women, so it's not like they'll be testing its limits. Overall I think the HTC Rhyme is a very good phone, perfect for women especially with that charm!
"Let's talk iPhone"
It's official! October 4th is iPhone day! Apple has announced that on October 4 they will be holding and event for the release of the iPhone 5. Or is that the iPhone 4S? Or both?
Let's take a little look at the evidence, or theorise. Seeing as the date, time and map on the picture Apple has released all correspond to the event, what does the 1 above the phone icon mean? Does this mean only one iPhone? Another thing to suggest that Apple will only announce 1 iPhone is that they're saying "Let's talk iPhone". This is not plural so does this also imply only 1 iPhone? Lets look at the evidence that points to more than 1 iPhone. Al Gore, a member of Apple’s board, has said "new iPhones" are coming using the plural form. Also Case-Mate accidentally published a page on its site with new products clearly labelled as being for iPhone 5. But we've also already seen iPhone 4S cases show up in some AT&T stores. So basically nobody really knows. We'' just have to wait and see what Apple comes up with on October 4!
