This year of night vale took me on a roller coaster of emotion with Carlos and Cecil's relationship even with my knowledge of their future relationship it just hurts sometimes listening to their ups and downs as they navigate their romantic relationship

Not to mention all of the really cool stuff that happened like the list coming back I never really expected that to become relevant again such a bizarre thing That when I first heard the list I was like this isn't really going to come back but it did and I would have been one of the unfortunates that met a grizzly end because I didn't know the list lol

And then all the Cecil lore that got dropped in the best of episode was incredible like complete and total mind blown

Also I've always really liked the weather section because it introduces me to cool new music my music taste is pretty much everything so I'll like most anything but the sheer joy I got when true trans rebel soul started playing during WE MUST GIVE PRAISE was undescribable That is one of my most favorite songs ever it's the one I have going full volume with the windows down after work it's just one of my songs and it just brought such a smile to my face to hear it on nightvale

BAD LANDS COLA | A STRANGE AUDIO DRAMA

this was a very interesting podcast it was in my recommendations the other day and it was a really interesting concept an Eldritch Fossil horror as someone who was once a dinosaur kid growing up it was really up my alley and I binged it so hard I think I finished it in just a few days I was hooked it's really short with only like 12 episode one is a two-parter

It is definitely one of the ones that got to me more than others like the sound effects and the voice acting really made me jump out of my skin at times with the danger and the creepiness but I'm also a chicken who scares easily lol

Even for such a short first season it had such a good story I really enjoyed all of the characters and how they interacted with each other

Also the main character Sunny is non-binary I'm pretty sure I didn't notice at first because to me using they then pronounce is pretty regular as someone who uses those pronouns themselves but I noticed that none of the other characters referred to Sunny with any gendered pronouns or terms so that's awesome it's very rare to find a podcast where the main character is non-binary

Overall it was definitely worth the listen and I really hope that Badlands cola releases another season even if it's a different set of characters because they made a really good story

WELCOME TO NIGHT VALE YEAR 2 REVIEW

This is a little out of date I actually finished year two a while ago and I'm almost done with year 3 there have just been dips in my listening where I'm just not really in the mood to listen to any podcast so there could be days or even weeks in between me listening to one episode and the next Plus I binged like two other podcasts that were really short intermixed with episodes of night vale so it's been a mishmash of audio during my work days

Anyway I really enjoyed year two things are really picking up between relationships forming and the actual background plots gaining steam and culminating in such big narrative arcs it's really interesting seeing all of these loose thread slowly being weaved into a very complicated tapestry that is still being made even to this day because I have heard of even now things that were said or done in these first couple Year's are still being picked up even in current episodes so I'm really excited just to see this keep going All in all I really love this crazy little town and I hope one day I'll actually catch up lol

WELCOME TO NIGHT VALE YEAR 1 REVIEW

I fairly recently started listening to welcome to night vale because I listen to the magnus archives and this was in my more like this section on Spotify and I had heard about it before and that if you like the magnus archives you'll like this so I decided to give it a try

And I got to say I am really enjoying this shit it is absolutely batshit crazy balls to the walls if I stop paying attention for even one second I have no clue what is going on and have to backtrack but it is so weird and interesting it's not as structured as the magnus archives is but there is structure there is continuity there is reactions to things that happen in the episodes but it's also a bunch of crazy shit and a town where all the conspiracy theories are true The ordinary is extraordinary and the extraordinary is ordinary

I just finished listening to the first year of episodes because it's not really divided by seasons and I really love where this is going definitely going to keep listening

I especially love that literally from episode 1 Cecil has such a huge crush on Carlos freaking love it not to mention all the other characters and I know eventually that some of these characters will get voices so far there's only been one other voiced character but it will be interesting once some of them have voices besides Cecil

It's nice that it's still ongoing but also bad because it's going to take forever for me to catch up lol it's got like 200 something episodes currently out with more releasing every other week we'll see how fast I can catch up

THE MAGNUS ARCHIVES SEASON 3 REVIEW

I finished season 3 fairly quickly granted it took about 20 days but I can only really listen at work and only when I'm doing something that allows me to listen lol

Overall this season was fantastic was it emotionally traumatizing and a roller coaster that never stopped Yes but it was amazing

We're really starting to dig into the lore and the how and the why of how this world works and the interconnectedness of a lot of the statements plus the meta narrative is getting really intense

Now it wasn't non-stop action all the time there were some light-hearted moments in this season but damn is it getting serious up in here even with the plots spoilers I knew before starting this podcast I'm on the edge of my seat for what's gonna happen next

Can't wait to start the next season!!!

The butch lesbian/trans man "funky printed button down" stereotype is true but you must understand that the men's section of so many clothing stores is a bleak and miserable place. Clothing manufacturers are simply convinced that no one who wears men's clothes wants anything besides the most boring outfits possible. Often stripes are the most exciting it gets. If you want to wear clothing designed for men but happen to like "color" and "joy" in your life then often the funky printed button down or the hawaiian shirt are simply your only options, especially off the clearance rack.

THE MAGNUS ARCHIVES SEASON 2 REVIEW

I finally finished season 2!! The way this story is going is incredibly interesting things are starting to come together we're starting to see the pattern and the greater powers at work in this world

We also see Jon take the downward tailspin into conspiracy and paranoia real fast I understand some crazy shit has happened and if it happened to me I would have handled it just about as well as him but still I feel like it's just going to get worse from here

I really love them introducing more people voicing different characters instead of it just being statements Jon reads with the occasional guest not that I don't love the statements especially because Jon just embodies The people who gave their statements sometimes I can't even Tell that it's not a different person that it's still Jon reading it

All in all I can't wait to see where this crazy train ends up next

You know how after time if you experience the same thing again sometimes you gain perspective about why you felt so strongly about it before I just experienced that rewatching treasure planet

I was borderlined obsessed with the song I'm still here and with Jim Hawkins in general I just loved his style ( I actually wear my hair in a similar hairstyle now an undercut) and I wanted to be him when I was younger I didn't really get why but I knew that was what I wanted

But here I am 27 years old and I realize this song just really spoke to my experience of gender of who I really was even if I didn't fully understand at the time

Just not feeling like I belonged anywhere that I would let people down because I wasn't who they wanted me to be and that no one really knew who I was at the time hell I didn't even know who I was

Honestly looking back it's no wonder I so heavily imprinted on this movie this song when I was younger it was my most played song on my iPod growing up it just spoke to me and how i felt and now I'm in place where I am happy and accepted by most everyone so it's nice to look back

THE MAGNUS ARCHIVES SEASON 1 REVIEW

I am person who very much avoids scary movies TV shows and books I hate scary things and will not watch them voluntarily I'm the person that was scared Just watching the meg which is not a very scary shark movie And have only watched one actual scary movie ever by myself and it was during the day

blood guts gore and horror of any kind is not something I enjoy consuming media wise not to mention medical type of medias because I'm super squeamish

But I love this podcast so much!! This is the second time I've listened to the first season I haven't finished the podcast yet because I get distracted and then I forget what was happening so I have to start it over

but I really enjoy it a lot and I don't know why because it's such a wide range of horrible things that usually scare me but this is so compelling and so good that I can't help but listen to it not to mention characters are so interesting

Going to do my best to actually finish listening to the whole podcast this time around

Minnesota governor signs executive order protecting rights to gender affirming care

Gov. Tim Walz has signed an executive order protecting the rights of LGBTQ people from Minnesota and other states to seek and receive gender

"Gov. Tim Walz signed an executive order Wednesday protecting the rights of LGBTQ people from Minnesota and other states to receive gender affirming health care, as he slammed the tide of other states rolling back transgender rights.

“We want every Minnesotan to grow up feeling safe, valued, protected, celebrated, and free to exist as their authentic versions of themselves,” Walz said. “Protecting and supporting access to gender affirming health care is essential to being a welcoming and supportive state.” ...

Walz’s executive order parallels legislation awaiting a floor vote in the state House to make Minnesota a “trans refuge state” by protecting trans people, families and care providers from a range of legal repercussions for traveling to Minnesota for gender affirming care, which includes a wide range of social and medical interventions.

While sponsors said they’re optimistic about passage in the coming weeks, the governor said the accelerating trends against trans rights in other states made it urgent for him to impose protections immediately.

The bill is authored by Democratic Rep. Leigh Finke, of St. Paul, Minnesota’s first openly transgender legislator. It would prohibit the state from enforcing court orders or child protection laws from other states if they interfere with a person’s right to seek gender affirming care in Minnesota.

The importance of the governor’s order to LGBTQ people across the nation can’t be overstated, she said.

“The lives of trans and gender expansive people this nation are under attack,” Finke said. “There is a full-scale movement in this nation against trans, nonbinary, two-spirit and gender expansive adults and children that seeks to make our community disappear.”

A separate bill banning so-called conversion therapy for LGBTQ children and vulnerable adults won approval in the Minnesota House last month and is awaiting a floor vote in the Senate."
