“Maybe yours didn’t want to scare you. Mine didn’t tell me until…” It doesn’t really hit her until then that in order to drop this bomb on him, she’ll have to explain that she’s one of them. What if he hates her? “Until they told me that Patrick wasn’t actually my dad. Allison had an affair with some guy from a rival firm, and it turned out…” she inhaled slowly through her nose. “Turned out he was a werewolf. So… so am I.” She waits anxiously for his reaction, ready to answer questions but expecting to just be told to get the fuck away from him.
“Yours didn’t tell you until—“ he started to talk even before she finished, mostly because he couldn’t believe that this was happening and it was like his mouth couldn’t control himself. His face dropped for a moment, only because that explained why her parents were so shitty to her. He still doesn’t expect the next confession, though, but between seeing Melody’s dead twin sister, and being attacked by a vampire, he doesn’t react with as much surprise as he thought that he would. “Oh, so, what does that mean, exactly?” He wasn’t afraid, this was his little cousin.
James feels more relaxed as time goes by. There’s not exactly a pressure by any means anymore. He just wanted Theo to have a comfortable and memorable experience even if it’s confined to the smaller space of his neat little apartment. He’s put cards on the table he probably wouldn’t have last month. Or last year. He held them close to his chest until the right person came along and Theo was, as it seemed to him, just as excited about getting to know him as James was him. It’s the right amount of giving a take that he wanted. James didn’t think he was that cool. His achievements weren’t really done for the bragging rights but for his love for learning more and taking a grip of the things he could control. “Staycation. That’s cute.” A soft laugh. He’d definitely use that in future. James usually spoke so formally even when he didn’t have to. It’s out of practice really and his presentation in front of friends of his family whereas James was an outsider. He always had been and was very comfortable with that label too. James boldness didn’t really stop with his questions but followed threw in his actions too, to much success at that. He kind of felt like a high schooler again. He didn’t really get to hands with boys back then. Guys just teased him and girls thought he was awkward so not many hand holding back then. He missed out a lot of things until college came around. He shuffles upward in his slump position, just to face him more head-on. No distractions. A smile matching Theo’s own. Not even the food had him right now. “Have you kissed another guy before?” He asked in his own curiousity. “Because I really would like to kiss you right now.” He tilts his head. “I mean, well, only because I can’t risk the food getting cold for too long but I can’t risk haven’t bad breath if I wanted to do that later.” He laughs at it but he thought it was semi-logical.
He can’t stop smiling. Theo’s extremely youthful in that regard--he can never really stop smiling, especially when he’s around someone that he’s vining with. When it’s romantic, the smile only grows bigger, and now Theo was full-on cheesing. His face would hurt later, he thought to himself. It was worth it, though. The thing with James was, even though this was his first time on a date with a guy, he was no longer nervous. Well, he wasn’t nervous anymore that he was a guy. Theo now was just nervous in the kind of way that he was always nervous with someone he was just starting to get to know, and like. He’s in awe of the other’s accomplishments, just because they seem so much bigger than his. It scared him because that brought up the thought in Theo’s mind that he probably wasn’t good enough for the other one. While Theo tried to be optimistic and strived to be the best person that he could be, he’s noticed that in his past, people haven’t really wanted more than just his face. It was as if his personality was so average that his face was the only thing interesting about him. But so many people seemed to have both the face and the personality, and Theo wasn’t going to not be himself just so he could get more dates. He just had to find someone who didn’t mind that he was a little bland. He was hoping James didn’t mind, especially because he was talking so much and showing that personality that he thought was bland. “Well, thanks, I don’t think it’s an actual word but,” he shrugged. The next question made him nervous, but Theo’s honest about it, “Not seriously.” Sure, there had been hazing in his frat where it happened, frat parties where it happened. But the guys would always pretend it didn’t happen the next day. “But I would like if you did. For logic’s sake.”
verses ;;
verse 1 (postiotd!theo): right after where the rp left off. theo has just figured out about the supernatural, but doesn't know all too much about it. he's still falling in love with basically everyone he meets, and...being theo.
verse 2 (college!ltheo): it's 2013 and theo is a sophomore at college at the university of virginia (or whitmore, who cares). he's the typical frat guy except for the fact that he actually respects women. threads in this verse can either be on campus or when he's in town for breaks.
“Well, there’s a way to stop them controlling you and make your blood taste like shit.” She went to her bag and grabbed her notepad making a note of a store name for him. “If you drink vervain every morning in your coffee or whatever, This shop on the outskirts has it and you can get them to deliver it every month for you.”
He gave her a grateful smile, although there was sadness behind his eyes. The world was already a dark place lately, and with the discovery of more dark things, his optimism waned. “Vervain. Okay, sounds easy enough. Any other uh, herbs I should be taking or is that all?” Because she did mention other supernatural creatures.
“Shut up.” She chuckled. “I’m an only child too but I got it pretty bad in terms of strict.” Saying that wasn’t too much to say. She didn’t like to talk much about how exactly her dad was because it opened a can of worms in her head that shouldn’t be opened. “Maybe you just got the okay kind of strict.”
“That’s a bad word,” Theo raised his eyebrows in amusement, because that’s probably what his preschoolers would say if he said the phrase. “Yeah. But now that I’m an adult, I can eat all the ice cream I want, and stay up as late as I want, so everything I missed out on, I think I’m getting,” he grinned.
“What?” She asks as if the question came out of left field and wasn’t directly implied by her last statement. It was only proof that she really was as naive they come when speaking romantically with anyone. “Ah. Aha. You know? I’m going to stop. It’s probably best.” In general as well as talking so much. She was certain this was the first time in her life that someone asked her to speak more.
He shook his head, before raising an eyebrow, “No, don’t stop. Because otherwise, I’m gonna start talking. And I can go on a mean, out of the way, tangent,” he told her honestly. He talked when he was nervous, and girls made him very nervous. The only reason that he hadn’t spoken more is because she was talking a lot. He hadn’t even brought up another Mountain Dew flavor yet, which was impressive.
“well, i’m pretty much exactly the same as my mom, so probably.” caroline said with a laugh, smiling at the fond memories of her mother. “no way, my mom would probably have helped you steal the dessert. she never liked mrs lockwood much.” caroline couldn’t help but chuckle. “she wasn’t.. scary, she was just.. she cared about her job, a whole lot. i just hope i’m as good at my job as she was.”
“She was amazing. I was really sorry to hear about her passing,” Theo gave his condolscenes but left the talking about death part there, because that’s what he would want, especially with all of the deaths in his extended family lately. “Oh, word. I was just scared of all of the adults, honestly. And I’m sure you’ll figure it out, if you’re not already as good as she was.”
* “Glad we agree.” She agreed. “If you’re really appreciative though, you can always buy me a drink.” She was joking but at the same time she did have a feeling he would do it. She was just testing her luck.
“Of course I’ll buy you a drink. Even though I feel like that’s not enough. How about just a night of drinks on me?” he suggested, slightly aware that she might be joking but still feeling like it was a fair offer to give for her kindness.
* “I don’t know. I reckon I could take you if I had to.” She considered with a smile behind her words. “I’d only done what anyone else would have done or at least what you’d hope anyone would do I guess.” She told him. It wasn’t a big deal as far as she could see. It was just right place right time.
“I have no doubt about that. You could definitely take me,” Theo commented, mostly because he felt like the other could be scrappy and catch him off guard, and Theo didn’t know if he could actually fight a girl, or even a guy, just because he wasn’t a fighter. “Yeah, but still. I appreciate it.”
“no, they’re probably totally true. but i guess he’s not.. totally unbearable these days.” caroline said with a lopsided smile. against all odds, she had ended up becoming quite fond of damon, after all was said and done. he had been there for her throughout some difficult times. “wow, that’s amazing. i always thought i’d become a teacher, but then somehow i ended up becoming a police officer like my mom.”
“That’s nice. Especially because you all are family, now. Kind of cool that three of the Founding Families are all also related now. The Forbes-Gilbert-Salvatore Clan has a good ring to it,” he chuckled, before nodding with a small chuckle. “You just as scary as her at the station? I remember I was terrified of your mom. There was no way I was sneaking extra dessert at the Lockwood’s when she was around.”
* “Or maybe you’re just a psychopath that likes to kill sims.” She questioned while trying to keep her face serious but ultimately ended up giving in to a laugh. “Maybe one day I’ll show you. High emphasis on the maybe.”
“Hmm, you better run. Maybe you should have left me alone that other night. Now you’re talking to the epitome of a psychopath,” he chuckled, before raising an eyebrow, “Hey, I can’t even complain. You’ve done enough for me, already.”
To be honest, it did make her wonder how he had stayed alive this long. “Yeah there are more than one vampire around. Not all vampires are bad though. Some drink animal blood or just drink blood bags. That’s not to say there aren’t the ones who would harm you and others in town.”
“There’s more than one. Okay,” he kept nodding, “Cool, cool. That’s fine. As long as they aren’t hungry, I guess.” he kept nodding, unable to stop as he processed all of the information. “So, I could get eaten. Anywhere. That’s—thought the only thing that could me was a bear. Or a shark. Not Edward Cullen.”
* “Depends on each situation. Sometimes it is unavoidable like self-defense.” She suggested because primarily, that was how she chose to feel about her own murder. She hadn’t meant to set the guy on fire but he was also attacking her and killed someone before her. Did that make her a bad person? Sometimes she didn’t know anymore. “I mean, you can just use cheat codes or go to manage world and just delete them from your household.”
“Yeah, of course there are those situations,” Theo nodded. He didn’t realize that she might have been talking about something personal—she was a little edgy looking, but she didn’t look like a murderer to Theo. Theo’s mouth practically hinged open, eyes wide in disbelief, shaking his own head at himself, “God, really? I had no idea.”
“’Course you do. The crushee always has the upper hand over the crusher.” Not that she was implying she had a full-on crush on him, hell she probably wouldn’t even recognize if she did let alone announce it. Still, she felt pretty at ease with the guy enough to have a playful conversation about it. “Your self deprecating stunt isn’t working. In fact, it’s somehow making you even more likeable.” She admits pulling a face,
“You’re crushing on me?” he asked innocently, a bashful smile appearing on his lips. Despite the attention that he did get from others, he was always surprised when people liked hm. Mainly because he’s never sure if it’s due to his face, or his last name. He felt like it usually had nothing to do with his personality because he was kind of boring. “You know the more you talk, the more I want to hear you talk.”
“It wasn’t - shit,” Charlie mutters, the muscle in her jaw working against her skin as she tries to find the right words. “All those stories they told us when we were little… vampires, werewolves, and all that. You remember those?” She looks over at him, trying to put as much honesty and intensity into her face as possible. “They weren’t stories. It’s real, all of it. It wasn’t an accident or a heatstroke that bit you, Theo. It was a vampire.”
Theo pressed his lips together, giving his cousin a reluctant nod, afraid to where this was all going, “Yeah, I remember.” Theo looked blankly at Charlie for a moment, before just asking, “What the fuck? Maybe they could have, I don’t know—told us when we were that age. Instead of calling them freaking bedtime stories.” He didn’t curse often, but he felt the need to right now. “What the fuck?” he repeated.
“None taken.” He chuckled. “You’re not wrong. Teaching would be much more fun than social work and teachers are just as important as us because you guys can actually flag stuff up to us that we might not see.”
“I mean yeah, I think it’s just important that the collaboration in schools and with CPS in there. I don’t think we have a social worker at the preschool, but I remember having them as we got older. So, what made you leave Australia to come to this little town?”
