I've just realised that TMA passes the Bechdel test. If you don't know what that is, then if a work has at least 2 female characters having a conversation about something entirely else than a man, it passes. The test helps to measure how active female characters are in a universe. And I think that Mary and Gertrude's conversation is such a good example of that (it's probably the longest female conversation there - if I remember well - but I know there are more fantastic women than just these two).

I love TMA for letting female characters take the lead and be a big part of the plot

Been thinking a lot lately about that TMA episode with the cannibal restaurant where the guy is super freaked out after assuming the guy who kidnapped him can’t speak English and he’s super scared of his last thoughts before death being racist
