May I please ask for a cute fluffy one shot between Lettie and reader where the reader is her girlfriend and is getting harassed by protesters and it gets so out of hand to the point where she gets injured and Lettie is PISSED so she helps her get healed and calm her down (And reader has to tell her not to murder the protesters lmao)! I survived the last year! My New Year’s Resolution for 2021 is to write and post here more frequently. Hopefully I stick to it this time!

- Y/N is in the back alleyway having a beer with some of the other circus performers

- Protesters show up and start cursing and yelling at the performers

- Y/N tries to ignore them, knowing it’s safer and smarter not to engage

- A drunk Tom can’t keep his mouth shut and fires back

- Tom’s comments start to rile up the protesters, who begin throwing bottles at the performers

- One bottle ends up hitting Y/N in the back, causing a full on brawl to ensue

- Lettie comes out to see what all the commotion is and sees her girlfriend bleeding from her right shoulder

- Enraged, Lettie starts fighting off the protesters, to the point where P.T. and several other performers have to pull her off of them

- Lettie holds Y/N’s hand the entire time the Golden Lady is cleaning and wrapping up her wound, Lettie’s own hands shaking to much for her to do it herself

- Lettie holds Y/N especialy tight that night as they fall asleep

I'm not dead! I can't apologize enough for the ridiculously long hiatus. I know anything I say at this point will just sound like excuses, so all I'll say is life is crazy, grad school is hard, keep wearing your masks, and Black Lives Matter. Now onto this amazing headcanon!

- While there is no word yet for how they feel, they’ve know in their core their entire life that they’re different from the people around them

- When they finally try to explain all of this to their parents at fourteen, their parents are at first dismissive at what they call “teenage silliness”

- Once their parents realize how serious they are, their parents are horrified, immediately worrying about what society will think of them

- At first P.T. is utterly confused when the family shows up at his office, seeing no physical uniqueness in the child, and fully believing that parents should let their children express themselves however they please

- Once he gets a whiff of how this child will likely suffer under such judgmental and strict parents, however, P.T. agrees to take them in

- P.T. creates a colorful, gender neutral costume for them and has them help O’Malley sell merchandise after the show

- While he fully trusts the cast of the circus, P.T. figures the child might not feel comfortable living around adult strangers, so has them stay with him and his family

- They end up becoming a bit of an older sibling figure for Helen and Caroline

- The cast is a bit confused about the random kid hanging around, they have enough experience with being different to know that they child will open up when they’re good and ready

- A few months later, when everyone is milling around, a slightly buzzed Tom loudly asks how he should refer to them

- Everyone immediately shushes Tom, but the child surprises them by saying it’s ok, and that they don’t really feel like a man or a woman, and they’re most comfortable just being referred to as “them”

- Both Lettie and the Woman in Gold end up taking on a huge mentoring role, both having different experiences with not fitting into their assigned gender roles in one way or the other

Hey! So sorry that I've been gone you guys, grad school has really been kicking my butt! But I've only got a couple weeks left for the semester, so hopefully I'll be posting headcanons regularly then!

- He bonds with the Irish Giant over hating rehearsal and the dancing part of performing, since they both have to dance with props attached to their bodies

- He was especially excited to see Jenny Lind sing, loving the idea of the opera growing up but never being allowed to go

- He bonds with Philip over their upperclass upbringing, and how they never seemed to fit in

- He helps Caroline with her ballet, having watched his sister practice it growing up

- Tom always teases him about how well-groomed he likes to be, with Tom calling it a rich man tendency

- Tom loves to challenge him to a drinking match, though he loses every time

- The Lord of Leeds has tea with Lettie once a week

- He helps a lot with coming up with the male vocals for the shows

- He and the Dog Boy sometimes camp outside of the circus as a date, and lay underneath the stars

- When he eventually proposes to the Dog Boy, he does it in carefully practiced Russian

Please can I have head canons about the homeless girl who gave PT an apple when he was a kid?

You have no idea how obsessed I've been with a character that appears for literally two seconds

- Her parents abandoned her at an orphanage as a baby, unable to accept their child's abnormalities

- Her life at the orphanage was a lonely one, with nothing but distant coldness from her caretakers and outright bullying by the other children

- When she was ten she was the first kid kicked out when the orphanage became overcrowded

- Lost and alone, she soon found company with a group of other homeless people rejected for their physical differences

- With them, she experiences the warmth of love and care for the first time in her life

- When she sees a young P.T. Barnum, scared and hungry, she feels a kinship with this other kid who is also obviously orphaned

- After offering him food, she introduces him to what she describes as her "family of rejects", and offers him a place with them

- P.T. kindly declines, stating he has someone else waiting for hin

- Barnum's experience with the young girl is why he cherishes his circus family so much, his own little "family of rejects"

- One day, she and her family wander by the circus, and she smiles at seeing people embraced for their differences

- Despite being raised by stuck up parents, she finds the whole affair fun, and enjoys seeing her brother find his place in the world

I'm not sure which one you meant to be nervous and insecure, so I hope you don't mind me making both of them super nervous!

- When P.T. first hires Y/N, he makes a point to show her around and introduce her to the entire cast

- The entire time P.T. is telling Y/N that she's gonna love Lettie, and how she's the glue that holds the circus together

- Before Y/N even sees Lettie, she hears her beautiful, brash laughter from the other room

- When Y/N finally meets Lettie, she realizes P.T. wasn't exaggerating about how amazing she was

- Y/N let's out a small "hello", too mesmerized to properly introduce herself

- Lettie isn't much better, having turned pink underneath her beard

- Lettie stutters through an introduction and quickly excuses herself

- Y/N is left confused and saddened, afraid she's made a bad first impression

- Whenever Y/N tells another cast member about this, they just flash a knowing and amused smile at her

- It takes about three weeks before either musters up the courage to speak to each other

- Lettie organizes a monthly family meeting for the entire cast, where anyone can get anything off their chest and they can talk it out together

- Lettie makes sure to remember everyone's birthday, and always makes sure to do something special for them

- Lettie convinces Philip to create a kid's day for the circus, where the kids can interact with the cast, be entertained by them while also getting a chance to see them as people

- Letrie always let's the younger kids tug on her beard for fun

- Sometimes Helen and Caroline will come just to see Lettie and the rest of the cast

- Members of the cast (mostly Tom) always joke that Lettie is running the show more than Philip

- Lettie always makes sure to assure Philip that everyone respects him very much

- Lettie always gets shy whenever the Woman in Gold makes her the center of a performance, and insists that someone else take the lead

- Lettie and the Woman in Gold always work together on new acts, with Lettie writing the songs and the Woman in Gold choreography with what Lettie gives her

- Lettie bursts into tears when Charity eventually asks her to be the godmother to Helen and Caroline

Omg, I can’t believe I’m actually the reason someone ships something! That’s such an honor!

- Jeremy was born to a lower-middle class family in Virginia

- His skin condition began developing at a young age, at first thought to be a small mole or scab, but soon began to grow

- The local doctor couldn’t find the cause, and suggested it might go away on its own

- When it became clear this wasn’t going to happen, his parents became vegan limiting his interactions with other kids, ashamed of how their son looked

- Jeremy’s sister (the redheaded cast member of the circus) was the only person who showed him any kind of love or kindness growing up, and they became inseparable

- When he was ten, his father brought him to work in the mines with him, happy to get him away from the judgemental looks of their small town

- After his father died from a lifetime of breathing in coal dust, Jeremy knew that he couldn’t put himself through the same fate, and he and his sister left for New York

- His sister convinced him to audition for Barnum’s circus, and he in turn convinced Barnum to hire his sister on as well

- He doesn’t have as much rhythm as some of the other members of the cast, but his years working in the mines have made him strong enough to do lifts in the choreography

- His sister loves to tease him about his crush on one of the albino girls

Again, this character seemed to be based off of a real person, so I tried to keep the headcanons as aligned with reality as possible, though I couldn’t find as much information on him as some of the others. Hope that’s alright with you!

I'll admit, I was pretty nervous about my first ask coming back, especially with this one being about one of the ensemble members of the circus. Hopefully this still comes out alright!

- Julius grew up in a lower-middle class family, more stable than what P.T. grew up with, but still no where near comfort

- He was the youngest of five brothers, though his dad refused to let his mother baby him

- Julius learned very early on that being anything other than hyper-masculine like his brothers would lead to punishment

- Still, he always dreamed of being a ballet dancer, and would practice in secret every night

- When his father caught him, he was immediately kicked out of the house

- Years later, Barnum hired him on as a dancer, needing someone to balance out the Lady in Gold's skill

- When Barnum suggested he wear gold glitter to perform, Julius had never felt happier in his life

- Julius had a crush on Prince Constantine when he first started at the circus, blushing whenever he would flirt with him

- It wasn't long before Julius began to come out of his shell, coming out and making friends with the other performers

- Soon he and the Lady in Gold were co-choreographing the routines

Mini Hiatus

Hey guys, so I've been trying to come up with some sort of schedule for headcanons, but it just doesn't seem to be working. I've been trying to post at least once or twice a week, but I recently started a new position at work, and I'm in the middle of grad school applications, so I feel like the quality of my writing has suffered because of it. I haven't been fully happy with the last few headcanons that I've put out and I know it has to do with how distracted I've been.

Unfortunately, the only solution I see is taking a small break from this blog for a bit. It won't be too long, I'm thinking around a month. Hopefully by then I'll be settled into my new position and my applications will all be sent out.

I'm really sorry you guys. I know I haven't been the best with posting, but I just really want to give you guys the quality headcanons I know you deserve. I really hope you stick it out with me, but if not, I completely understand.

- Phineas' mother died during childbirth, being too poor to afford medical treatment

- His father couldn't afford to send him to school, and with no one to take care of Phineas, he decided to bring him to work to teach him a trade

- His father was a very cold man, experiencing the harshness of the world throughout his life

- However, he always loved his son and was very protective of him

- When his father started working for Mr. Hallett, he was immediately smitten by Charity

- Charity is the one who taught P.T. how to read and write

- When his father fell ill, they finally opened up to each other and better understood each other

- P.T. always made sure to find a way to stay clean even when he was homeless and living on the streets, strongly believing that appearance is everything

- While working on the trains the other workers would make fun of him for always wearing gloves, since he didn't want to have the hands of a poor man

- The first thing he bought with his first paycheck was a fancy top hat
