I am pleased to announce that the goals of this campaign have been reached! Welcome back to Hudson and Rex, John Reardon! I hope they'll treat you and Charlie well, this time. If not, then we may have to do this again.

This is a win for fandom in general. Everyone who thinks our voices aren't heard, yes, they are. For those who said we wouldn't accomplish anything, well, looks like we did. And it was done both organized and unorganized which is heartwarming. So, cheers to everyone.

I had a thought about keeping these for when Hudson and Rex S8 would air but there was a better suggestion to make that day John Reardon appreciation day. Since there was a very badly put together BTS video of Temu Hudson and Rex today in which they're trying to get us to "see how everyone gets along" (no one cares and the reaction from the fans was never about that), I think it's time to remind the production who this show is actually about and what we care to see.

Use these on any social medium. They are optimized for Instagram.

You can make posts on instagram, and tag them

#hudsonandrex (mandatory so that people will see it)

And then you can add any other tag you like, you can tag the productions and network, don't overtag, though. Yes, we want them to see it, we don't want Instagran to think we're spamming, though.

Spread the Message - Inform Fans - Make Shaftesbury Pay Attention

They are counting on a quiet transition, and they are counting to announce on their own terms and when they think it's best that they won't be bringing back John Reardon. They are probably coming up with their own campaign at this moment to promote it. Charlie won't be mentioned anywhere and they'll be talking about Mark as if he's the new big thing.

We need to get as many fans to realize that Charlie won't be coming back and the show as we know it is no more. A lot of people are unfortunately convinced that all is well due to all the bogus videos and articles out there. We need to get them to see what we know but not attack them for their ignorance. We need to gently inform them.

Things that we can do:

The Message: "There is no Hudson and Rex without Charlie. It's appalling that after John Reardon's battle with cancer, the people behind the show were so callous to not bring him back to the show when he's an integral part of it. We will not be watching, and we will also make sure that everyone knows what Shaftesbury and CityTV did." (Do not copy-paste, come up with something along these lines or construct your own message from scratch. That's just a sample.)

Instagram: That's where most of the cast and crew and production have accounts, so it's good to make waves there. Some people are already seeing what we're saying.

a) Make comments on the official Hudson and Rex account. They have imposed restrictions due to the large amount of comments from fans demanding John Reardon's return. While you might be able to see your comments, Instagram hides them from anyone else. To check if your comment has been hidden, you'll have to log in from a different account. If you can't see it, it's hidden.

Make comments on Shaftesbury's account, on Beta Films account. If you live in a country other than Canada and you know who broadcasts Hudson and Rex, and their account has any kind of comment activity, you can also comment to their Instagram account.

b) Pick a picture of Charlie and Rex (google Hudson and Rex, make sure it's not AI). Make a post about it. Because it's Instagram, and a lot of people do not see the actual description, write "Bring John Reardon Back" or "Bring Charlie Back" on it. Big letters. The description will further clue people in.

c) Hashtags to use: #bringjohnreardonback #bringjohnreardonback #bringcharliehudsonback is what I propose and what is already in use. I also saw one that said #norexwithouthudson which was also clever. For the posts, write a short message explaining what you want as a fan.

d) Tag Shaftesbury and CityTV's accounts. Don't use them all the time as I've noticed that the more you tag, the more Instagram thinks you're a spammer.

Twitter:

I don't know how many people pay attention to twitter anymore, and I mean from the fandom and the people behind Hudson and Rex. You can use the same tactic as Instagram.

Facebook:

The Official Hudson and Rex account has quite a few people there but the trick will be to make them realize what we're saying is true. I'd say, reply under comments asking when the show will be back and inform them of the situation.

I don't have information on how to do this on other social media, I'm hoping for suggestions. Tumblr can be our "base of operations", I don't see many unsuspecting people over here, and not many people come here in general to seek stuff about the show, which is good if we want to share information such as this without getting anyone in trouble. I've also checked the "discourage google from indexing this blog" to make sure no one accidentally stumbles on this.

Reddit:

There is a subreddit, that's where everyone gathers to post about Hudson and Rex. r/HudsonandRex you can just search "hudson and rex" and you'll find it. I need one person to make a post there about the situation, they can copy my own words if they want. I'd like to post it myself but I currently have an issue with my Reddit account, so if someone could start the conversation there, that would be great. I can even provide the full post, if someone wants to contact me to do it via DM. There is not a peep about it there, back when they thought something was wrong with Diesel, they were writing and writing (and had inside information on his passing, that's where I found out). Edited to include new information. Also, I added what I believe to be the general Beta Film e-mail, I hope at least they read this.

International fans, please send e-mails to Beta Film. We've left them alone for too long and I'm pretty sure they also have a say in decision making about the show as well.

A few things you can mention (not all of them in one e-mail!!!): How your whole family watches Hudson and Rex (time for the family friendly label to come in handy, you don't have to be watching it with your family, obviously, you're just letting them know that they've got an audience, not just one person who types this e-mail) when they bring a new season to your country, how S7 has not even gotten there yet (if it hasn't) but you already have been informed what happens because fandom is a community. Mention that you already know they're filming S8 and that John Reardon won't be there, as your Canadian friends in the fandom have sent you pictures from locations (lets not mention casting and definitely not Meghan Ory's comments). Mention the reasons that you and your family watch, how big a part Charlie is in all this, how getting rid of him would ruin the show. Tell Beta Film that it's not too late to make the right decision and in the end, that since S8 will only be 8 episodes they can still get Charlie towards the end and bring John Reardon back for another season (since it's clear to me that they're planning way too much ahead already).

Mention that you and your fandom friends have been trying to reach all the other productions and have gotten the cold shoulder and worse, they have been deleting your messages and how you find that disrespectful for the core base of their fandom. We are, after all, the people who consume their product. This might even cause friction between the productions, the handling of what are essentially costumers (even those who in their eyes are difficult) is something that every company does different. Say that it would have been more honorable to end the show rather than completely change its identity and cast aside seven year of character building. You can also mention how you feel about learning about all this when you know about John Reardon's cancer and how it has affected your perception towards the production companies involved. Be emotional but not rude.

I put these together real quick. They are the optimal Instagram size, 1080x1080. (Tumblr, please don't ruin them.)

I hope to have more images soon. I welcome any suggestion regarding the styling, I chose yellow on the font because it's the more striking so it easily catches the eye when scrolling (and highly recommended for promotion). I didn't think a lot about the font, I'd love suggestions but it would have to be something to be easily read and to look okay in all caps. No calligraphy. The purpose is not for it to look pretty, just to be read.

I am also posting the photos without letters so that anyone can write their own message. Please, don't leave the photos without a message! We are not promoting Hudson and Rex, we are asking for John Reardon's return.

The post: Write a few things about the situation. No need for proof and such, if someone wants to ask in your comments how you know about this, then you can further elaborate. But it should definitely include the fact that a) John Reardon is not coming back, b) it's not his choice, which will put the blame on Shaftesbury, CityTV and the rest. You could also add the fact that they've been completely silent about this, secretive even, and that they are now deleting/hiding any comments asking about it.

Tags: Tag the Hudson and Rex official instagram account, Shaftesbury, and Beta Films. From what I know, Pope Productions doesn't have a company account.

Make sure to use #hudsonandrex along with any other tag that you want, so that it can appear on the tag! It's important. The goal is to have a lot of these posts so that they will eclipse the normal posts. It's not that easy because of Instagram's algorithm but it could be done.

If you can like each other's posts, it would help with their visibility. Liking comments inside your posts dies the same thing. You can also put post links on this post's replies if you want so that other fans can like them.

You don't have to be using these images, these are a suggestion and to help people who either can't make them or don't want to.

If you can, use a Hudson and Rex image for your profile.

Some advice on how to comment on posts:

First of all, no matter how we feel, we are commenting under someone else's post. In most social media platforms these days, this means that the original poster has the power to remove our comment if they deem it unsuitable for their content. So, we shouldn't give them reasons to do that.

So it's important that there's no swearing in your comment.

Do not be overly aggressive. And that goes towards both the original poster and those who might reply to you. If the replies are the ones who are aggressive, don't bite.

Too many tags or tagging too many accounts might be perceived as spam. There's no reason for that, especially if you're thinking of commenting more that once. Yes, we want their accounts to constantly be pinging with new notifications but not to the point where each social media platform labels our accounts as spam.

As I said before, if someone already has a nice comment, start a conversation with them. Example: Someone has commented on the situation with some basic facts. Your response: "I know, right? It's awful..." and then you add more facts. More replies usually place the comment higher.

We are not aiming to get Shaftesbury change their opinion on whether John Reardon will be in the first part of the season anymore. That window is gone. However, that doesn't mean we can't say things like, "Hudson and Rex without Hudson is an awful idea and I won't be watching it". But you can also say, "I still believe that in the end you guys will see the light and bring John Reardon back even later in the season". A lot of the comments will already be angry comments.

The accounts should be the relevant production accounts plus CityTV. The productions are Shaftesbury, Pope Productions, and Beta Films. You can also tag Rogers Sports and Media. Please don't tag the actors, they are not part of any decision making and this is an awkward time for them too.

So, I don't claim to be in charge of this campaign but I'll be happy to provide any necessary information, and hopefully help with the intended goal, which should be:

a) To get people who are in integral decision-making positions to realize that they need to bring John Reardon back to Hudson and Rex,

b) To demand an explanation regarding Shaftesbury's illogical decision,

c) Failing A, to make sure that everyone knows what happened.

They made the mistake to give us the time to figure out what's going on and organize, thinking that it would help with the transition. Now they're going to reap what they sowed.

What We Know So Far (Updated June 3rd)

All the information below is still valid but the fact that there now exists a poster makes the point moot. It's not about proving it to anyone anymore.

John Reardon is not scheduled to come back for S8.

How do we know this?

It has been confirmed by John Reardon's wife Meghan Ory that he is currently at home and not in Newfoundland, in a video they did a week ago in their Youtube channel, Iplay1ontv. She mentioned that she would go do a movie and he was going to be at home taking care of their kids.

Later, in the comment section of said video, she also replied to other people's comments who were worriedly asking whether he'd be back on the show (having done the math), and trying to not outright say that he wouldn't be back at first, but reinforcing the fact that John Reardon had not been called for the eighth season of Hudson and Rex. When fans suggested a hashtag to bring him back, she said it was a good idea and while she was referring to the specific hashtag that was proposed, that meant that she had also confirmed to the fans that he hadn't been called back.

Detective Mark's name (as officially credited on IMDb) is mentioned in a casting call for the episodes that were supposed to be aired last season (two of the episodes initially scheduled for S7 were pulled, resulting in an unusual casting call). Source: https://castingbymaggie.com/job-detail/345

The casting call mentions the correct dates for this season's filming, so they will be filmed THIS SEASON. The casting is for guest roles but one of the descriptions for a role (ROLE 5) clearly states: "Something feels off about her involvement, and Mark and Sarah work to discover what that is".

He is also seen from afar in the above video that I linked from Instagram, in a car that suspiciously resembles Charlie's make and model (but not color, they're so original).

There is no other reason for Mark to be there if Charlie was to be there. Moreover, this episode, if they keep the order, would be the second episode of S8, which means that Mark stays and is not there to make the transition to get Charlie back. And the case is a run-of-the-mill case anyway, not referencing Belize or anything connecting to Charlie's disappearance.

All these, plus S7's finale, lead to the fact that their planning on completely changing the show, John Reardon won't be back because he's not been asked back, all of Charlie's stories will cease to exist, as well as his partnership with Rex (which will be passed on to Mark) and his relationship with Sarah.
