Of course for my Simon Snow mugs I have to have tea! These are the Simon and Baz teas from adagio teas and I highly recommend them both! The small boxes are the sample size (now in use holding paper stars), then they have larger bag options. Perfect for enjoying with some sour cherry scones ;)

This is my Simon Snow mugs collection! I painted the white/green and the blue Watford coat of arms mugs myself at a local pottery painting place. And, though I did not win the Fangirl prize pack, I went out and got the Raygun mug :). Then of course there’s my mug from the DFTBA store currently in use as a holder for paintbrushes and pens! Which one is your favorite?

I found the Simon Snow series in the time I needed it most.

Though Carry On was avidly recommended to me by a friend in 2017, I didn’t actually read it until almost a year later and it was because I was admitted to an in-patient mental hospital for suicidality and there was nothing else to do. You see, I wasn’t a reader, I’m not sure I’d willingly picked up a book for all of middle school, but this changed that. In 2019 when Wayward Son came out, I didn’t wait to read it this time, and I was hooked. I thought about Simon and Baz constantly, I couldn’t wait for the next book even though it would be the last, and when Anyway The Wind Blows was released I had to force myself to set it down in intervals so I could savor it and not finish it all in the same day! Throughout reading the series, I was able to relate so much to Simon’s battles with his mental health, with PTSD, his journey to discovering his identity as a queer person, and especially his struggle with accepting love. When the series ended the way it did, without a big bang where magic solved all their problems and granted them a happy ending, I was heartbroken. And while I know Rainbow has said that if you were looking for a big conclusion like Avengers Endgame maybe the series isn’t for you, my struggle with how things ended was exactly what I needed. As someone who always reaches for escapism this was my push towards confronting challenges in my life, and as cheesy as it sounds, highschool me was able to learn and grow with these beloved characters.

Today, I’m an avid reader with a shelf full of books who recommends Carry On at every oportunity, I’ve discovered my love for writing (especially fanfic), and I’m learning how to love. As a socially anxious, fanfiction writing, college English Major (I swear I didn’t pursue my degree just because of the series) who adores Simon Snow, I relate so much to Cath. I’m currently doing my annual reread of the manga in preparation for the new school year, and at the same time, I’m so excited to be starting to share some of my achievements as a Simon Snow fan with all of you XD! From recreating Lady Ruth’s cooking and the infamous sour cherry scones to taking the Wayward Son road trip to a walk through of my table of merch, there’s lots more to come and I hope you’ll stick around!!!
