Aftermath
"If thatās what you want, then yes," She breathed out, hugging her sisterās body close as she leaned forward for another kiss. She didnāt have much resolve when it came to intimacy with her sister and there was no way she was going to deny her now, especially not when they both needed the comfort.
Santana followed Sara's lips as she pulled away, dragging out the contact for as long as possible before kissing her firmly one last time and settling down. Her eyes dipped closed and she held Sara just as closely as Sara was holding her. "Just a quick nap, ok?" she said, already feeling sleep begin to take over.
Aftermath
Sara took in a deep breath as Santana closed the distance between their lips once more. I didnāt last long, but she reveled in the softness of her sisterās lips. She couldnāt deny the fact that the kiss had helped distract her, even if it was only for a moment. A large part of her wanted moreāmuch more than either of them would be able to handle, but she knew that she had to hold back. Santana wasnāt just one of her casual sex partners, she was her sister and she was hurt.Ā āI wish it was that easy,ā She muttered, her gaze lingering on Santanaās lips.Ā
Santana cupped Sara's cheek and nodded in agreement. "Yeah. Me too." She lied back down and rested her head close to Sara's. "Can we please just pretend for a little while?"
Aftermath
"How am I supposed to do that?" She sighed, tightening her grip on her sisterās uniform. She wanted so badly to be free from the thoughts that plagued her mind, but there was only one thing that helped her forget and Santana was not going to let her have it while they were in bed together.Ā
Her hand rubbed up and down Sara's back, trying to soothe her. She didn't know what else she could really do--there was no way to take away her sister's pain and Santana learned that the hard way. She would have to find another way, one that kept them both safe. "Like this," she said, lifting up and fitting her lips against Sara's, kissing her softly and letting her lips linger. She pulled away and looked at Sara. "Just you and me."
Aftermath
Sara followed Santana down onto the bed, automatically curling up against her side as they settled into a comfortable position. She couldnāt say that she felt completely okay, but she at least felt better than she had before. And sheād feel even better once her dad got home from work.
"He ripped your uniform," She said as she ran her fingers over the tear in the fabric. "This is all my fault. Iām sorry I got you into this."
"It doesn't matter, I have more," she murmured, finding a place to tuck her head and hide her face against Sara shoulder and kissing it. "You didn't do anything wrong. We'll figure it out." Santana gently pulled her sister closer. "Just focus on me and you."
Aftermath
Sara turned towards her sister and bit her lip. It was hard to ignore the dull ache in her chest that accompanied the sight of Santanaās swollen cheek, but she managed to push through without crying. She leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on her sisterās lips, her arms immediately wrapping around Santanaās body in search of comfort.Ā āIām not going to,ā She mumbled quietly. āIāll stay just⦠Please, donāt leave me.ā
Santana felt some of her fear subside with Sara's kiss. It didn't have to mean anything, but it comforted her nonetheless. Her hands smoothed down her hair and rubbed her back before pulling Sara to lie down. Santana made sure they were still able to hold on to each other. "I won't. Don't worry, I won't. You have me."
Aftermath
"It was not and you know it," She protested, biting down on her lip as a new tears formed in her eyes. She wasnāt sure why Santana wanted her on the bed but after several long seconds she reluctantly complied, her arms wrapping around her torso. "What are we going to do now?"
Santana felt steadier now that Sara was sitting down, like her sister wasn't going to run and find a drink as soon as possible. She didn't know how to answer her question, either. "Can we please just rest for a sec? If you take off I won't be able to chase you. I'm tired, baby."Ā
Aftermath
"Youāre not going to let it happen? Just like you didnāt let him punch you in the face, right?" She muttered bitterly as she watched Santana move closer. She knew her sister was only trying to help her feel better, but she no longer found comfort in a false sense of security. Tyler was faster and stronger than both of them combined and he would be able to overpower them if he wanted to. "You canāt stop him, heās already proven that."
"It was a lucky shot," she muttered, sitting back down on the edge of her bed and burying her face in her hands. Her knee jumped anxiously and she tried to rack her brain to make this situation better, but it didn't look possible. Not when Sara was so upset and so damaged. "Sara... Please. Just come here. It's okay right now. We're both okay right now. Just come sit next to me."
Aftermath
"That doesnāt matter!" She yelled, shaking her head as she stared at Santanaās bloodied knuckles. She wanted to reach out and take her sisterās hand but her body was frozen in place. She couldnāt protect her sister from her boyfriendās impending revenge and it terrified her. "Itās not okay! Donāt you get it?Ā Heās not going to let this go. Heās going to find you like he found me."
Santana bit her lip, feeling her emotions swell as Sara continued to lose it. She thought about how she shouldn't have told her, shouldn't have fought him in the first place. Her own eyes welled up and she stood, her hand still extended to her sister. "That's not going to happen. I'm not going to let that happen. Please... just come here. I'm sorry, Sara. I'm really sorry."
Aftermath
Sara could practically feel the color drain from her face, her heart hammering in her chest as fear began to set in. The tears formed almost immediately and she shook her head, taking a small step backwards. She didnāt want to believe that Tyler would come after Santana too, but now neither of them were safe and it was her own fault.Ā She opened her mouth to speak several times but no words came out. Instead she looked over at her sister in horror, her breathing becoming labored.
"You canāt go back."
"Sara..." Santana said sadly, watching her retreat into herself. "It's not like that. I attacked him. I just... lost it when I saw him. Please, just try to breathe." She didn't stand up but instead extended her hand in her sister's direction. "It's okay, just come sit down."
Aftermath
Sara tried not to gasp as she took in her sisterās appearance, but she could do little to keep the look of shock off of her face. She knew that her sister liked to play things off, but there was no way that this fight was minor. She reached her hand out and gently cupped her sisterās cheek, searching her eyes for some semblance of the truth. āWho did this to you?ā
"Sara, please," she said, pushing her sister's hand off the hot bump on her cheekbone. It was hard to keep her gaze when she looked like that, and Santana instantly felt guilty for giving her a reason to. She dropped her eyes and tangled her fingers together nervously. "It was Tyler," she finally said barely over a whisper.Ā
Aftermath
"What?"Ā She asked in horror, her eyes widening as she gently tugged on Santanaās top. It wasnāt the first time Santana had gotten in a fight and she usually won, but the fact that her sister was still refusing to look at her made her stomach twist up in knots. She needed to see her to make sure that she was okay, nothing else would put her mind at ease. āItās not nothing. What happened?ā She said frantically as she leaned up to try and peer over her sisterās shoulder.Ā
"Chill out. It's just like the time Zizes wiped the floor with me last year," she said with a shrug, letting Sara get in her space and check her over. "Sometimes I pick fights I can't win. It's not a big deal." She grabbed Sara's hands and tried to get her off her shoulder. "Will you relax?"
Aftermath
"Look at me," Sara pleaded, her heart rate starting to increase as she grew more anxious. The last time sheād seen Santana act like this was when she was in the hospital and it was beginning to freak her out. She reached her hand out and gently rested it against her sisterās back as she kneeled down on the floor next to the bed. "What happened?"
Santana fought the urge to jump when Sara's hand was against her back, and instead she deflated further, looking at her fists and shaking her head. "It was nothing... I just... got into a fight at school," she mumbled under her breath.
Aftermath
Sara frowned and stepped further into the room. Santana was acting strangely and she couldnāt quite put her finger on it, but she knew something was off. Usually, her sister would have at least given her a dirty look by now but she refused to even turn around. āWhatās going on, Santana?ā She asked as she carefully stepped closer to the bed. āWhat happened?ā
Santana sighed when Sara didn't drop it. Her hands were still clenched in fists and shaking. She just needed to cool down but it didn't look like her sister would accept another line. "I screwed up."
Aftermath
Sara cringed, instantly regretting her decision to check on her sister. She should have known better than to bother her but like always, she couldnāt help herself. āYou slammed the door. I wanted to see if you were okay,ā She mumbled quietly, hoping not to anger her sister any further.
"I'm fine," she lied, still unable to face Sara. What good would it do to tell her sister what happened? Santana didn't want to traumatize her more. "Just... tell mom and dad I'm sick if they ask why I'm not at practice."Ā
Aftermath
Sara usually spent her afternoons drinking but the sound of the front door slamming shut meant that she no longer had the house to herself and would have to wait a few more hours to get drunk.Ā She knew immediately that it was Santana stomping up the stairs and she was hesitant to ask why she had gotten home so early. Clearly, something had gone wrong at school and she didnāt want Santana to take her anger out on her.
Eventually, curiosity got the better of her and she found herself knocking on Santanaās door. āWhat are you doing home so early?ā She asked as she pushed the door open and peered inside.
When Santana heard a knock on her door she was quick to wipe her eyes and rub the back of her hand under her nose, trying to not look like she had just been crying. Seeing Sara's face wouldn't help though, it only made her stomach twist into tighter knots, so she didn't turn around.Ā
"Why do you care?" she snapped in a scratchy voice, compulsively straightening her Cheerio's skirt.Ā
Aftermath
Santana stormed into the house and marched up the stairs as quickly as she could. She was still angry and if there was one good thing that came from being sent home early, it was that no one had to see how emotional she actually was after the rage died down.Ā
Once she was in her room, she screamed into her pillow before falling back, deflated. Her fists her and her knees hurt, but it was the pain she felt inside for Sara that was the hardest to cope with. She wanted to kill him and she hoped she would have the option to try again the next time she saw him.
