wwwwwwWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!
She felt like she was being dragged out of some sort of Jello, and it took a second to remember that she was in her bed, in her room, in her house. This might have been affected by the pitch darkness of the room itself, lit only by the garish red numbers “5:45″ glaring at her from the corner. She groaned and sat up.
Michael had discovered his ability not three days ago, and he was already ecstatic about it. He was going through a dinosaur phase, and she had started to sleep with thick socks on to avoid getting chomped in the toe.
One of those dinosaurs, or possibly several, were roaring now from the sound of it. “At least it’s a Thursday,” she mumbled to herself. Thursday meant she could send Michael to school and sleep and still convince him to go to bed on time. She rolled over and tried to ignore the noise.
At least, until she heard the door slam.
Her mind caught up with her body somewhere in between her jacket and her second shoe, and once outside she saw something that made her throat catch. Michael, in his bright green t-rex onsie, holding a terribly familiar shoebox as a swarm of tiny creatures chanted his name.
