The 22nd February saw Pompeii celebrate the Caristia, a festival dedicated to family love which was characterised by banquets and exchanges of small gifts (such as wine, bread, modest sums of money and tokens known as ‘sportulae’). Families gathered together to dine together and offer incense, flowers and fruit to the Lares, household deities who protected the house and to whom domestic shrines were dedicated in the atrium, in the garden and even in the house kitchen. What if when Rhys was looking for Feyre when she left him to go the cabin he was wearing a hoodie or bummy clothes? I like to think maybe he was too disconcerted and stressed to wear his High Lord clothes. Like the only thing on his mind was finding Feyre.

A tarot spread for finding the light in the darkness of the forest.

I like to use my photography as stimuli for tarot spreads and their tones, and today I rediscovered a collection of photos from forest walks which inspired me. I looked at them and I saw a deep forest with obstacles eventually leading to light. And so, that’s how this tarot spread came to be.

It’s a really simple spread which aims to give hope and realistic encouragement to people facing difficult hurdles right now.

Overall, in this spread, you’re taking on a journey. Your path is obstructed, but you find a new route, until eventually the exit is found.

Card One: The Tree Blocking Your Path

This is the initial hurdle facing you, the one you’re currently facing. The card pulled will help describe what that issue is.

Card Two: The Diversion

You’ve made your way around that first tree and have continued on, until you hit another snag, another tree stands in the way. This card shows the route you’ll take forward to move past that initial hurdle, but not the long term solution. Think of it like walking two paces to the left, but eventually needing to turn right away.

Card Three: The Light Through The Leaves

This is the final step that needs conquering, the way you’ll know you’ve made it through to the end. This is the sign to look for to know you’re out of the woods now.
