Had a blast hiking into Lake Valhalla this weekend with @thewoodsarecalling What was supposed to be a hot and smokey weekend turned into cold with rain and everything was absolutely gorgeous! Saw a bear, ate some wild berries, stayed decently dry. News Notes 8/20/18

Airbus Megaplane - Dying or just getting started? - 

Is the Airbus 380 dying or just getting started. As someone that grew up in the Air Capitol of the world I still have a fascination with how planes are made and the amount of money that exchanges hands for these giant beasts. US air carriers are going with small efficient planes while International carriers are tapping into the philosophy that bigger plane means less congested airport and (when full) more profit.

When you got a good coach, you keep him. Even when he's over 80 -  

Kansas State just signed a new deal with their head coach Bill Snyder that would lock him in until he's...83.

Looking for some articles on the NFL preseason games. I'm seeing a lot of complaining about players being hurt in these meaningless games and that Commissioner will soon reduce it to 2 games. But I have a theory that the NFL preseason is a massive hype machine to get bad teams to look good. We see it every year where the teams that make the playoffs look ok and sometimes even bad in the preseason while teams that will go on to not win a single game look great. So while the NFL might be saying that they can reduce the games, doing so will hurt their bottom line a lot in an era where they're already faltering as "America's Passion". 

If you can't beat them, buy them. Pepsi Purchases SodaStream for over 3 Billion -

Sugar drinks should and hopefully soon will be the new cigarette. It's terrible. Pepsi is tripping over itself to become "healthy" but does buying the self-avowed anti sugar drink company really them become the new face of healthy drinks?

The boom is bust - The crypto hangover is here to stay - The $100 I put in December is worth about $40 now and I'm the lucky one. Lesson that needs to be learned, don't believe they hype, understand the economics, don't put in more than you can afford to lose.
